Child Abuse Scandal in UK grows to implicate MPs, celebs - Update Posts #900/#1100

This is pretty weird, more for my parents I guess. I remember my dad telling me he went to a Garry Glitter concert and really enjoyed it, and after the truth came out he feels somehow guilty for that now. You'd think in the paparazzi age it'd be easier to find out this sort of filth, but the fact that it's only transpired after his death (and a good twenty years or so after it occurred) is pretty telling of what a shroud showbiz can be.

Absolutely horrific. Definite feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg, there'll be more stores and allegations coming out about 70s celebrities and condcut at the BBC for months to come.

A 13 year old is not a young woman. A 13 year old is a child. So is a 14, 15 or 16 year old.
And no, there is no argument. He is a pedophile. A criminal. A low life piece of shit and the world is better off without him in it.

While I agree with your last sentence, 13-16 year olds doesn't really mean pedophilia, they're not prepubescent.

Age of consent is about mental maturity.
Pedophilia is about biological maturity of the body.

Taking advantage of girls of that age bracket doesn't technically make him a pedophile.

Still illegal, still wrong.

It's a pretty interesting discussion, though. The sheer widespreadedness of this makes me think that it wasn't even considered a deviance, just a bit of naughty fun.

The real question is, why can we no longer see the word British Isles, without the word PAEDOPH in front of them?!?

And the answe to your question is because now we have paedophiles going to extreme lengths to carry out their sick ways such as the paedophile disguised as a school!

Its complete and utter Nonce Sense.

The MET have to answer some questions. He was investigated in 2007 to which they were told they couldn't go any further as it would impact funding to one of Savilles charity's. Saville himself said this to the MET.

The investigation was dropped and now 5 years later we learn of a history of abuse. Fucked up world we live in.

That can't be true, right?

I wonder if this will re ignite the Haut de la Garenne stuff.

If you want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes just start reading up on that place.

Yup, same here. Funny how some people just raise your alarm, same with Jonathan King and Matthew Kelly.

I wonder how many more dodgy fuckers will be unearthed.

Matthew Kelly was found not guilty of the allegations. I suggest you look on Youtube and find the interview where he calls Frank Skinner out during SkinnersTV show on making jokes about it.

I didn't say he was guilty, I said he raised my alarm. Because he did. Because he's fucking dodgy. The allegations came as absolutely no surprise whether they were true or not.

Yeah, watched the ITV programme earlier and that was the main thing that came across in it. That seemed to be the attitude back then, with some people seen as uncriticisable. I expect a lot is going to come out in the weeks and months to come.

The clip from his show with Gary Glitter on it, both arms round 2 girls and Savile saying something like 'why's he got 2, he can't have 2! I shouldn't give away my girls so easily!' was a bit stomach-churning.

All his charity work looks so cynical.

The most recent Sunday Times included an quote from an article Peel wrote about underage girls offering to sleep with him and that he was happy to oblige.

I think it's from his biography. He talks about groupies offering sexual favours (never anything more than oral) and that they were never ID'd. He later found out one was as young as 13. It's fucked up, but pretty standard from what I know of the 60's/70's groupie scene.

Matthew Kelly is dodgy?

I mean, innocent or guilty, he never struck me as a potential nonce.

He always gave me the impression of a pretty tragic figure. Just something not quite right, artificial about him. More so than most people you see on TV. Sort of Barrymore-lite.

As a kid Jimmy Savile just creeped me out though.

Grim grim grim. Grim.

Tbh with all these allegations due to surface. I think Kelly could be pulled back into this.
I think he had a very, very lucky escape before. I think the investigation went to places the investigating team felt would be tricky, maybe due to other people involved so canned it.

Two music industry figures arrested in the same police child abuse inquiry as Matthew Kelly have been told they will face no further action.

Tam Paton, former manager of the 1970s pop group the Bay City Rollers, and music tycoon Steve Jolley were arrested by Surrey Police. They had been expected to answer bail on Wednesday.

The allegations against them dated from the 1970s.

Mr Kelly was told two weeks ago that he would face no further action.

The allegations were connected to Operation Arundel, the inquiry which led to the jailing of pop mogul Jonathan King for seven years in November 2001 for a series of indecent assaults on young boys dating back decades.

Following the King trial several people came forward to make fresh allegations.

That led to Stars In Their Eyes presenter Mr Kelly being arrested on January 15 in his dressing room after appearing as Captain Hook in a pantomime in Birmingham.

Paton, a millionaire, was arrested by Surrey Police at his home in Edinburgh the same day.

Jolley, from Barnet, Herts, who produced hits for Spandau Ballet, Bananarama and Kim Wilde in the 1980s, was arrested after voluntarily attending Guildford Police Station in Surrey.

All three men emphatically denied any wrongdoing

In regards to John Peel didn't he say he got his dick sucked by a 13yr old girl?

John Peel was like that GAFer who went on about picking up young girls in Thailand.

As a young man, John was a short, unattractive man with a large forehead, but he was also a British man (British accent) in the USA with a great knowledge of, and good connections with, cool bands of the time. ergo a lot of American schoolgirls adored him.

Huh, Tam Paton. Wasn't there at least one of the Bay City Rollers charged as well?

I recall that one of Bay City Rollers got arrested for DL'ing child porn. It was a seperate case.

A few members of the band have said that Paton raped them whilst he was their manager.

Weren't the Bay City Rollers adults? Or did they start as kids? I only recall vague footage of them.

It looks like any prominent childrens TV presenter from the 60s 70s and 80s may have been a member of an elaborate peado ring.

This all seems to coincide with the rise of the teeny bopper. Horny, impressionable teenage girls swooning over pop idols/tv personalities in the early days of TV.

All these guys thought it was easy pussy and Savile took it to another level, molesting teenagers in wheel chairs and those dying of Cancer. He was one sick/innovative peado....sickest of them all? Who knows.

former nurse said she saw Saville molest a brain-damaged patient at Leeds hospital, saying, "He kissed her, and I thought he was a visitor coming to see her, and he started rubbing his hands down her arms and then I don’t know of a nice way to put it but he molested her."

More than one hospital now:

http://news.sky.com/story/996237/fresh-abuse-claims-surface-against-savile

It comes after two hospitals spoke of their "shock" at the allegations made against the Jim'll Fix It star.

Nurses at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, told children to stay in bed and pretend they were asleep to prevent the TV presenter from groping them, it has been claimed.

Eight criminal allegations have been made to police against Jimmy Savile
They were also said to have dreaded Savile's visits because of his behaviour.

A statement from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust read: "We are shocked to hear of the serious allegations about Jimmy Savile.

"We are unaware of any record or reports of inappropriate behaviour of this nature during Jimmy's work with the trust."

Rebecca Owen, a former patient at the hospital, told The Daily Telegraph: "It was an air of resignation that you had to put up with.

"There was some sort of ironic chatter between the nurses about who would be the lucky one to go off to his room.

"And then, as one of the nurses was leaving or passing by my bed, she leant over and said, 'The best you can do is stay in bed until he's gone and pretend to be asleep.'"

Allegations were also made about abuse at Leeds General Infirmary relating to incidents in the 1970s.

The hospital said two people, thought to be patients, came forward to report abuse.

It said it was unclear whether the alleged abuse took place when Savile was a volunteer porter at the hospital, or when he was visiting informally.

In a separate incident, former nurse June Thornton said she saw Savile abuse a brain-damaged young girl at Leeds General Infirmary. Ms Thornton was a patient at the time of the alleged incident and was recovering from an operation.

She said: "She had brain damage, and Jimmy Savile came in and kissed her.

"He started kissing her neck, running his hands up and down her arms, and then started to molest her.

"Because I was laid flat on my back, there was nothing I could do."

A spokesman for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: "We are shocked at the nature and extent of the very serious allegations made against Jimmy Savile which were revealed by the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday.

And he had the keys to Broadmoor as well:

http://news.sky.com/story/996356/abuse-claims-savile-had-keys-to-broadmoor

The TV presenter helped out at Broadmoor, in Crowthorne, Berkshire, from the 1960s and would have been able to access patients' rooms.

One victim claimed the Jim'll Fix It star shoved his hand up her nightdress after walking in on a group of girls watching television.

Alison Pink, who has since had a sex change, told The Sun: "I felt absolutely disgusting afterwards - like I had been used as a piece of meat for his sexual gratification."

A statement from West London Mental Health NHS Trust, which now runs Broadmoor, said the allegations related to a time when it was run as a separate organisation.

It added that procedures and protocols, including security arrangements, have changed significantly in the last decade.

Three police forces said on Thursday fresh allegations had been made
It said: "We have not been approached by police or by any former patients or their representatives with any allegations of abuse by the late Jimmy Savile.

"If we are contacted by the police we will of course co-operate with any investigation involving the hospital.

"Jimmy Savile had keys because of his role as a volunteer at Broadmoor.

"We understand that Jimmy Savile's involvement with Broadmoor began over 40 years ago in a volunteer capacity.

"Our records indicate that his last visit into the hospital was in 2004 but there had been little contact for some years prior to then."

Former CEO of Broadmoor Alan Franey said he was "absolutley shocked and dismayed" at the allegations.

"I am feared in every girl's school across the country."

He calls his bed the altar...

I remember that line. I think Louis asks him to clarify and he pretends he never said anything. I think he loved the fact he could get away with it so easily.

I've also read on the DM website that he was a necropehliac and there are suspicions he molested his own mother after she died.

Oh shit, he addresses himself being a labelled a paedophile in the press and his tactics to protect against them. Louis even highlights that his approach makes him look more suspicious.

He volunteered as a porter in a hospital and there are rumors he did stuff to the bodies.

When his mum died, he spent 6 days alone with her in the same room. He is quoted as saying they were the best days of his life "as I had her all to myself"....

So work out the rest!

I only found these this week but there is no smoke without fire. It could be that he had some fasination with dead people and there was nothing sexual. But there are no witnesses to say what went on.

Very much the same for me. I'd switch channels or go and do something else away from the TV whenever they came on.

Paddy whatshisface from Take Me Out and Louis Walsh give me pause, from my adult perspective.

Not actually accusing them of anything however.
