My question is, what other classic Midway franchise needs a revival? Area 51? San Francisco Rush? Gauntlet? Spy Hunter? Robotron 2084?

Just throwing this out, but I'd go with Carnevil. Remember that one? It's kinda like House of the Dead, but with a macabre sense of humor. That would make a good Wii port or a Move-enabled PS3 port. Maybe bundle it with Area 51, Maximum Force, and Area 51: Site 4 for good measure.

And of course, San Francisco Rush. I miss the high-flying moon gravity in my racing games.

So, what say you?

APB, I fucking love that arcade game. Would make for a great XBLA revival.

EDIT: oops I wasn't thinking, isn't that Atari? But it was on Midway Arcade Treasures so I got mixed up.

Spy Hunter got a reboot of sorts in 2001 on the PS2 that was pretty good. I wouldn't mind an update of the original arcade game on Live or PSN.

C'mon, Warner Bros. Let's do this right!
This and Total Carnage, though WB has nothing to do with it. WB only bought Mortal Kombat (and to their surprise for less than $50 million; they expected more bidders; which is why they put a bid quite fast); not Midway as a whole.

I use to think graphics couldn't get any better than this.

On second thought Williams games need to stay in the 80's/ early 90's. They have a special place in my heart there.

Would make for a great downloadble multiplayer title.
My friend and I would always try to beat that game in one sitting. Out of the hundreds of times we attempted to do so, we only succeeded once.

Finally making it to the moon level was the coolest thing ever to an 8 year old!

Yeah, I could definitely go for some of this. Even if they don't remake it, they should release the arcade and/or PS1 versions as a downloadable game.

OK, for remakes, well, there was a pretty slick update of Robotron: 2084 about a decade ago, called Robotron X (PS1/PC) or Robotron 64 (N64). How about an updated version of that game, with dual analog control and crisp high-definition 60 fps visuals? They'd also need online scoreboards, of course!

Klax is also ripe for a remake. Can you believe that game was created over 20 years ago already? Still one of the best puzzlers around.

Finally, this might not technically count as a Midway game (as they only published it on PS1 and co-published it on PC), but there was some discussion here a few days ago about Return Fire. That's a game that would probably be very successful in this day and age of downloadable head-to-head online games.

Is Marble Madness Midway? I vote for that.
It appeared on the first Midway Arcade Treasures compilation, so yes, it counts.

I think they got most of the other stuff, too, except for the licensed sports titles, Hydro Thunder (Microsoft grabbed the rights before WBIE did), and the Cruis'n trilogy (Nintendo owns the IP rights). Mortal Kombat is their focus at the moment, and I remember hearing that they also picked up the rights to the Spy Hunter movie that never happened.

Didn't they remake Narc already?

Wasn't it horrible beyond belief?

An updated Rush 2049 with online MP would make me a very happy gamer.
This this this!

Didn't they put Rush 2049 in a collection last generation? I totally forgot about it :(

ALSO, BRING BACK GAUNTLET DS

San Francisco Rush (preferably Rush 2 from the N64, or even California Speed since it played exactly like SF Rush), Mace: The Dark Age, maybe do a reboot of the Cruis'n series, and one more I'd like to see (and I might be the only one) would be a HD remake of Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero for XBLA and/or PSN. Just make it hi-def and fix up the controls and I'd pay $10-$15 for it.

I would love to see a straight up port of this, but I know it'll never happen. This was one of the best games on N64 imo.

Hell yeah. Best racing game on N64 that was closest to Gran turismo. Loved that game to death. :D

You're thinking of Midway Arcade Treasures 3, and WBIE applied for a trademark for the DS Gauntlet game, so there's hope for that one yet.

who bought the rights to rush after midway ate shit?

best levels in rush were the vegas one in Rush2 and the first level in the original Rush. turn on deaths then plow the cpu drivers into walls or give them love taps just before they get air. amazing crashes, so much fun winning by being the last one standing.
