"Classics HD", new brand for PS3 games?

Gettin' lost in the middle of a desert because I forgot about the sword guide button in 3D F*CK YEAH

Gosh, it's JUST packaging. If the game itself doesn't have tags like that all over the screen, I don't see the problem.

Also I guess this means we probably won't be seeing PS2 games on PSN for awhile if this is the new marketing direction.

The ammount of crap sony keep shoving on their boxarts is getting annoying.

Why is there a circle and the ugly bar needed to tell me that it has move support? Then they also have that stupid PSN circle. Why can't the stuff on the circles just go on the back of the box? It's not like there is anything important written in them anyway.
 
Wow. Now that they've devised an entire branding division for this, it really gives me hope that not just Ico, but plenty of other HD collections are on the way. Give me everything.
 
I hate that they killed backward compatibility, but I think I would prefer (all of) my PS2 games to be up-rezzed like the God of War games were, if I were to go back and play them.

Also, Sony is fucking nuts with all of that branding. It's ridiculous, disgusting, total and complete disregard for aesthetics. A pocket dimension should open up and swallow whatever overzealous marketing monkey decided that was OK.

I believe a Capcom staff member did say they were curious to see what kind of success the GOW Collection would have, and making money out of their old games with little investment has to be tempting to them. I wonder if they'd do the remakes themselves, and even go multiplatform.

Yeah I can't imagine why other devs wouldn't jump on this for some of their big games. The GoW Collection took Sony around 4 months to complete and it sold really well.

I disagree, I'd be annoyed if they weren't making it clear these are old games they've prettied up. It's a little banner, I don't see the big deal.

What I think is cool, is this is an indication there are enough of these coming to justify the banner. I don't think Sony alone have the games to warrant this, so third parties are probably in on it too.

This will actually be very interesting. If they fix SotC's FPS issues and somehow manage to keep Ico's looks while going HD (I could see this as the first game to use AF negative :lol ), those two games would be worth it to people who already completed them. I know I can't think of another collection I would buy (unless I don't already own the games, of course).

Thinking about it, I wouldn't mind an ape escape collection. I never played those games and isn't there a PS3 version in development?

Been said, but that is one horribly crowded boxart. Boxart is meant to be appealing, right? Get GAF's photoshop masters out of the Ad thread and on this shit, STAT.

X and X-2 would be nice too, I don't think I'd play thru them again though.
 
What's the point of that Move sticker anyway? I can't make out what it says, but isn't the point of the PlayStation Move Featured bar the same?

I think it means you can play it ONLY with Move. the other bar will be on Killzone 3 as well for example
 
god of war, sly are done. team ico collection is all but confirmed.
now sony, some kind of silent hill, zoe, mgs or final fantasy collection would be awesome. make it happen :D

It did get Greatest Hits so this means that GoW Collection sold more than 500k in NA only.

If it were just the little banner, then it wouldn't be a big deal. How many instances of "PlayStation" and the assorted logos and insignias do you count on that box?

Now it's time to bring it back :) Though to be honest I wouldn't expect PS2 BC or PSTwo classics on PSN anytime soon, not until at least next year, we've already known for over a year that we're supposed to get Turbografx 16, Neo Geo games have been rated by the ESRB and Dreamcast games are coming this year upscaled and with trophies. A PSTwo classics section done correctly like the Dreamcast games would overshadow everything, they'll give these other classics time to shine I think. Of couse I'd love to be wrong.

I think in retrospect I was too hard on it. The same happened last gen, I thought I preferred 7&8 to 9, but in fact it's the exact opposite now. I haven't played thru 12 since it came out, so I'd like to see it come out again so I could give it another try.

why would square do this, when gamers are more than eager to fork over cash for remakes one at a time? :lol

they still need to work their way through remaking FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX first anyway- you'll see the PS2 FF's sometime around...oh...2020.

Capcom USA's Christian Svensson dropped the hint on the official Capcom forums, stating that he'd be "first in line" for God of War: Collection and using the discussion to slip in some market research: "I don't want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I'm not saying anything like this could happen) but I'm seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment ... are there other titles you'd like see go this way?

I think this is a very good alternative to not being able to play PS2 games on the PS3. The GoW collection looks a lot better with the HD treatment they have done with it. I just hope it isn't just Sony first party games. Also, the question is what is going to be the price of these 'classic' collections.
