I don't see him lasting long, but it would be nice to have a new face around.

Yea I have a feeling that Opress isn't going to last long sadly, but wonder what they would do with Ventress story wise, unless they just go back to status quo after this, which would be disappointing.

Yea it probably was one of the more violent episodes even with stuff being off screen at times. Liking the focus on the bad guys and Dooku's little revelation at the end. Silly Sith.

Love this episode. The fight scenes are top notch and the violent deaths (it ain't for kids).

Also the main focus are the bad guys.

I don't get that rule, because it is never practiced in the movies, except for the OT and Episode 1.

Only a master and apprentice. Sidious had Maul, then takes on Tyranus, then Anakin. Tyranus took on his own apprentice, then replaced her with now Savage. The idea is that one Sith does not rule many as in the old days. Instead of having one master sith with hundreds or thousands other sith following him, each master can only lead one.

The rule was created since for thousands of years of on and off fighting with the old republic, the Sith often turned on themselves with their constant power struggles and in many cases the failure to control the galaxy came from internal sith conflict. In the dark days of the republic some 1,000 years before the CW, the Sith ruled the galaxy and the republic was dying off, but the Sith warred with each other and eventually broke upon itself allowing the Republic and the Jedi to regrow and nearly wipe them out. Bane created the rule to try and bring the Sith under control as in a sense, they are their own worst enemy.

Oh Snap!

Liam Neeson voicing Qui Gon in The Clone Wars 3 part arc.
Liam Neeson is returning to that Galaxy Far, Far Away. EW has learned exclusively that the actor will reprise his Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace role as doomed Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn on Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Jan. 28 and again on Feb. 11. He’ll be voicing Qui-Gon, who appears to Obi-Wan Kenobi in visions, in a three-part arc about his former protégé Anakin Skywalker’s destiny as the Chosen One.

Looks interesting, and hes not transparent and blue glowy either, dark side trickery!

Tomorrow's final episode of the Nightsister trilogy will also have an appearance by the Republic Commando

That's pretty awesome, I'm not gonna lie.

If I just jump in where the second half of season 3 started will I still be able to keep up with things?

I would say yes overall. This half of the season looks like its going to mostly be story arcs. Like the current arc ends on friday then the new Qui Gon Arc starts next friday

You probably wont miss much or have any issue understanding. The whole anthology style of story telling kind jumps around alot already. I would at least start with the first 2 parts of the nightsister trilogy at least though since they are connected more so than past trilogy arcs.

Some things from first half of the season were supposed to be important in the 2nd half they said, but I doubt it's anything substantial other than "oh that's neat"

So tonights episode was pretty awesome and a good primer on why the rule of 2 is important. That ending though :O
Darth Maul alive?! I suppose they could be going for what was seen in a comic where Maul is alive but has a robotic lower half and is hunting skywalker but always just late at various events.

My jaw dropped too

hmm had a thought.
Perhaps it will be a Ghost Maul. We know the next Trilogy of Episodes Has Qui-Gon's Ghost. Qui-Gon even mentions others seeking Anakin on the world

Just chiming in to say I recently started watching this series and it's AWESOME. Next week's episode looks crazy. Two questions:

1) Is this all cannon? (It better be because it's better than the movies)

2) Are all the seasons in HD? (I know it's on Blu-Ray but was it made in HD from the start?)

1) Show is pretty much canon, Lucas is heavily involved in it's production supposedly. According to various episode commentaries from the main director Dave Filoni, various episode storylines were made by GL himself such as the experimental cloacked ship episodes, and the Mandalorian stuff, though the script writing and directing is handled by others. Katie Lucas, the daughter of GL is also a regular writer for the show now too. At Celebration V, Filoni made it clear that the show is completely under Lucas' thumb

2) Show is HD, it is broadcasted in HD and it looks amazing in it's recent 2 seasons which continually get better and better animated and artwork.

Yea that was a crazy ending, wonder if we will see any more of this storyline in season 3 or they are gonna hold it off for 4.
I imagine they will do the cybernetic bottom or have some kind of cybernetic that connected him back together. Though I think it would be neat if they gave him an entirely cyborg body. As long as hes not a floating torso of rage like the one sith Maw from Dark Forces II

Willy I just want to say how annoying I find it that you always CAPITALIZE your official THREAD TITLES.

Some pretty awesome action in the last couple episodes. Also:

"Hey, you're not supposed to be here."

I think that's the first time I've laughed at a battle droid joke, haha. Figures we would eventually get a writer with some comedic timing.

Unless this turns out to not actually be Qui-Gon, how is this supposed to work out canonically? Obi-Wan shouldn't know about Qui-Gon being a Force Ghost until Episode III.

Maybe the visions are part of meditation rather than a full ghost form that other Jedi can see too? Yoda hears him in meditation in Ep2.

I thought that comic was non-canon ... but I guess Lucas liked the concept so there'll be a canon version of it instead of
robo-maul gets killed on Tatooine
.

Also, Delta Squad showed up at the start of the episode. Goddamn, makes me sad there wasn't another Republic Commando game.

He isn't a force ghost, hes not blue, transparent, etc. From the preview info and such it sounds like theres going to be alot of illusions and trickery in the following series of episodes. It likely is not really Qui-Gon at all.

It's not a canon comic, was one of what if series of stories that they did for some time.

Just saw latest episode .

Holy shit. Best episode ever. The animation was top notch and the music.
The only thing that irks me was the cartoon network commercial. Zooples really.

Bluray get. Day 1

Preview for the next episode is up, believe this is going to be another trilogy of eps perhaps: http://www.starwars.com/theclonewars/guide/episode315.html

The bad guy focus of the trilogy was nice since we got lot of the Sithy sounding music. The animation was great and really the whole nightsister presentation was visually amazing in design.

Anyone else get a Force Unleahsed vibe from the Toydaria scenes?

Yea Opress mowing through the Toydarians, blowing out doors, I almost expected screen button prompts.

That was a great episode.

At various points through the final battle I wasn't sure who was going to die, Ventress or Savage.

And the twist ending was unexpected. Interestingly enough, earlier in the episode I was thinking of how Darth Maul would look like with the Clone Wars art style.

Also, Obi-Wan's new model makes him look a lot skinnier and older.

It is intentional. Thread titles with capitalized letters are easier to find when they are all bunched together than those who aren't.

I thought this too, but since what we have seen of it happens in a cave, I'm guessing it will be like Luke's vision in Empire Strikes Back.

Katie Lucas sent a link out in email to a story about the next 3 episodes. Its gonna be big stuff as far as star wars lore goes.

A mysterious force draws Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano to the distant planet of Mortis, where Anakin learns of his destiny from a family of exceptionally powerful Force-wielders. Convinced that Anakin will bring balance to the Force, the family's patriarch urges the young Jedi to stay and maintain the equilibrium between the light side and the dark side.

Prophecy of the Chosen one will finally be revealed in detail.
Pernilla August reprising her role as Shmi Skywalker
Liam Neeson reprising role as Qui-Gon Jinn

8 more episodes left in the season, so wondering what they are gonna pull out for the finale.

Katie Lucas involvement in the next stuff is good, so far most of the episodes shes been involved in have been some of the best.

The arc will likely be controversial to some but I have to say that first episode was pretty awesome. It does seem to totally change the assumed balance of the force at the end of return of the jedi

I think this arc will anger some.

Depends on how things go, lot of it seems to be nothing but smoke and mirrors. It's interesting, kind of reminds me of some of the crazy stuff we are seeing in the FOTJ novel series with a force nexus and all the illusions. Lot of wtf no doubt.

The "sith" was also played by the dude who was Starkiller in the TFU games.

Pretty good episode. This season is really up there
Anakin powering up was cool.

Next episode will be interesting
Asoka fighting both Anakin and Obi

The planet came across as almost like the Heaven of the Force. The Brother and Sister were practically Gods with their strength in the force. All that stopped them from waging a destructive war on everything was the Father.

The Planets name translates to Of Death. Do look forward to seeing where this goes. Katie is talking it up big time

I have to wonder if it even is a planet with the whole beginning and the odd shaped ship that sucked them in. The whole thing could be a crazy force illusion or they are just inside the ship the whole time.

Yeah The Vessel whatever it is looked like a giant Sith Holocron. Its interesting though cause the Old man pretty much says the Jedi are as bad as the Sith in wanting to exploit the power.

Maybe the Whills finally showing in the saga heh

The visual and audio design is so much better than when I stopped watching. Even the art is miles ahead of what I remember. I'm really liking these last few episodes too. It's not just 'Battle of the Week' anymore.

It's really great seeing Liam Neeson voicing rather than a probably not so good imitator.

How so?

The new character models are a big step up.

Darklord said:

The whole prophecy and the balance of the force thing is never resolved in the movies, the only clue that was ever given to what it all meant was interviews with GL about how Anakin at the end of ROTJ brings balance to the force when he destroys the Emperor.

Some are afraid this series might change that notion of what it all meant.

I don't think it really is an issue, as it was never resolved in the actual movies and it was largely forgotten in the prequels outside some toss away lines. Many have complained about the balance of the force explanation that GL put forth so perhaps we will finally get some real explanation or better explanation in the actual film.
