CNN: Sega is refashioning itself as a PC game maker

40k is not really suitable for a Total War style game.

Why not? A campaign map was already in several Dawn of War games and makes perfect sense for the setting, the core gameplay should work fine with a few tweaks, scale down the squad size a little and add in some of the massive units etc. Seems like a pretty perfect fit.

Not that a 40k themed Total War game will come around any time soon. A fantasy Warhammer will probably show up sooner or later tho. Sega actually picked up the Warhammer license last December so Creative Assembly likely have a team working on something. If SEGA do a 40k game it would almost certainly be a Relic developed Dawn of War 3, THQ had one in develop at some point tho I am not sure if they canceled it at the end there the assets should still be around.

Sounds like more F2P online games and not good ol'Sega games to me... :-/
I'm not convinced something good will come out of this for fans of "classic" Sega.

Sega only have the Warhammer Fantasy licence, not 40k.

True but Relic have a good relationship Games Workshop and they seem to be licensing it out to just about anyone at this point Behaviour Interactive is working on an MMO with Activision, Full Control is doing Space Hulk, Slitherine are doing Warhammer 40K: Armageddon. So if they wanted I am sure they could grab the license any time they wanted.

I've been playing Sonic Racing Transformed on PC and it's great. 60fps, 1080p, etc. One of the best I've played this passing gen. I don't own a WiiU, but I'd like Sega and Nintendo to pair up. Their games just seem to fit together for some reason even though most of them seem vastly different.

...

Do you know the original Warhammer 40K? You know, the tabletop wargame???

my first 40k experience was with my neighbour who exclusively collected epic.

once you're used to playing around with titans, the petty skirmishes of vanilla 40k seem trivial.
