COD MW4 reveal trailer - game launches Oct 23rd

4 years development time = 12 launch maps

weak.
Yeah not great but I remember seeing a rumor that IW is gonna take more of a MW3-type content release frequency. So hopefully we get a decent amount on a regular basis. I just hope they're good to begin with. Maps haven't been IWs strong suit in their recent stuff.

I mean its a fucking trailer of a game 6 months out, you looking for a job at DF or something?

I guarantee zero people who will be playing the game don't give 2 fucks if a building in the far distance looks a bit shit.
Well the buildings in the foreground also look like shit. Low geometry cardboard looking buildings.

I play the game and was excited for the graphical leap that was coming to MW4. It hasn't materialized according to this trailer.

I cannot believe these games are still popular.

They are the most mid generic boring crap that's been regurgitated for the last 15 years.

6 Hours SP that is the same as every other COD campaign. MP that is only good for 14 year old ADHD kids and sweatlords.

Warzone with Nicki Minaj skins.
cod was down to number 5 on the top ten list last year. its no longer as popular as it once was.

Yeah, i don't play COD for the single player campaign.
There are dozens of us! Dozens!

And funnily enough, MW3 and BO7 sold way less than their respective previous entries so the games with the worst singleplayer campaigns (or even lack thereof) kinda have the history of performing worse sales-wise...
My point being, sure MP might be the main dish but shitting on the singleplayer does not look like a sound business idea for this franchise.

Graphics look fine to me. The game need to hit 60 on base consoles. It's how the game feels and plays with these games they never push the graphical limits as they need a massive audience to be viable.

There are games with way better graphics that run at 60fps on console. That's my point. 60fps is not an excuse for these graphics. If you're ok with it, great for you.

I'm not ok with it and that's why I pointed it out.

Looks pretty decent, not gonna lie, makes me wanna jump back into the series. But, I'm not doing that if this is part of the call of duty HQ. They need to make this completely separate.

A good campaign helps for sure, especially with perception and review scores but if anyone is spending $70 solely for the campaign then the odds are you'll be disappointed more often than not.

Treyarch have been pumping out content for Bo7 at a very solid cadence so if they can match that would be great but I doubt it

Its not even released yet. Maybe wait until you get the game on your respective system and see it native before you write it off. I've never has an issue with how COD looks.

You can pause any game and point out shit bits. Especially from a YT video.

kinda surprised that there's a Switch 2 version, but no PS4/Xbox One version.

you'd think they'll milk those systems as long as possible

True.

With this game tho from what I'm reading the priority might've shifted to

1. DMZ
2. Campaign
3. MP

I do hope I am wrong

Depends on the quality of the maps my man. If the majority are bangers then 12 is plenty. If the are all Piccadilly or Boarder Crossing then yeah i'd tend to agree.

Black Ops 7 maps were a step in the right direction so I'll give them the benefit of doubt. Some of the best in a long time

Man, it's really disappointing to see Infinity Ward retreat on the minimap issue. They had it right in MW19/MWII. God forbid people should actually have to use their fucking ears to determine where enemy gunfire is coming from.

Removing bloom is an interesting move, though. Other games that have done that like Red Orchestra/Rising Storm have the weapon viewmodels detached from the center of the screen unlike practically every other FPS. I'm curious if IW are taking the same approach or have figured out another way.

This is possibly the 8th time North Korea invaded South Korea in a video game. Second time in CoD series.

These game writers can't write anything else when it comes to Korean peninsula to save their lives.

I bet the AI can come up with a better narrative than this slop writing.

The story and setting are interesting, and the graphics and cinematography look cool... Definitely a much more appealing COD than the previous one, which was an incomprehensible WTF.

Pretty cool to see COD back on Nintendo! Depending on what else is coming out around then I might grab it to support major third party IP on the platform again.

Quoting from the other thread for fellow graphics whores who aren't regulars there:

Game seems to have RT reflections and RT emissives. May include some low precision RTGI as well (not sure). Definitely no PT, that's for sure.

So much occlusion and disocclusion in this segment that anything short of RT would be a mess with SSR. Seeing the reflections change as well depending on what's occluded, so can't be cube maps either.

And a more obvious example later on:

And evidence of emissives. You can see it in the gameplay shot above as well, but the ones below are are a bit more obviously ray traced imo.

They are clearly showing it off with the complex light shapes and tubes all over the place (including the ceiling of the supermarket) that are accurately lighting up a la cyberpunk. The only way you are getting that accurate light contribution is via RT emissives or full blown RTGI. But several fine details are missed on the GI side, so I'm assuming either single bounce or probe-based GI. But you can see how each emissive texture affects the area immediately around it as they start going off.

The cellphones should be lighting things up a lot more, but probably not in the BVH as they are moving sources.

Asset quality and/or LoD could be LOT better though. Seems a bit jarring compared to the rest of the presentation.

You say this but we'll all be playing shipment and nuketown in 3-6 months time anyways to get the weapon unlocks.

It does look like the campaign will at least be story driven with multiple mission locales vs what we got last time. Fingers crossed they can recoup some of the magic from the 2019 game's campaign.

Yep, pretty much this, dude, even BO6 was terrible that I couldn't even get any motivation to play past some in the house by the ocean talking nonsense that you need to do before you start a mission from a mission board. It was cool in Cold War when they introduced it, but it got tiring very quickly in BO6. I didn't even bother with BO7 because of its futuristic look. CoD executives/stakeholders are so damn brain dead with their choice and decisions they make with guns/aesthetics/combat/gameplay etc.
I'm a Sony guy, you're a Sony guy, we're all Sony guys and girls.

If they remove the movement mechanics from the current version it's going to feel like quite the downgrade for me but I'm sure there are a lot of people who enjoy slower movement
Correct.

For me, for example, the movement in Battlefield 6 is "correct."

The Matrix-style gameplay with 40kg of gear on your body breaks the immersion.

In fact, COD feels more like Quake III Arena than a war game.

Seems like they're not fucking around with the campaign with this one thankfully. The bar is in hell but at least something on the level of BO6's please
