I've never played a WWII Shooter or any game in which you have to delegate team members and/or a whole team. (Do you even have to do that in COD2?) Will it be very hard for me to get into COD2? Is there some sort of tutorial or is everything self-explanatory?

I was thinking about getting PDZ instead, but I don't care much for multiplayer and the single player is supposed to be pretty disappointing. So what chances do I have to get a satisfying experience out of COD2?

CoD2 is very noob friendly. You dont have to bark orders to your squad at all. It's all controlled by the AI and they're pretty helpful in Veteran mode. There's a tutorial but very basic (how to fire a weapon, how to throw a grenade). Very simple to grasp


CoD2 is a great single player game. Multipalyer not so much cause of the online problems and only 8 players max.

Like the above poster said: there is no squads. Your AI controlled teammates are some of the best I've ever seen. Rarely have I see anyone do something completely stupid ala getting stuck in a wall (sometimes they DO step on grenades, though...) or shooting me in the back.

The game is just intense. I don't care if you're a huge FPS fan or have never played one. You'll ease into it quickly. I have nothing but the highest of recommendations.

But yeah, multiplayer sucks ass.

Thanks. Well, actually I'm a big FPS fan. But I'm just not into managing squads and I never liked the WWII theme. But in this case the good seems to outweigh the bad, so...

You can pretty much just play naturally and let your squad do their thing - as others have said the AI is very good. Given that you can just about imagine you're playing a co-op game with other decent players on your side, who all know what they're doing.

That part alone is what helps give CoD2 its intensity.

Thanks guys for encouraging me to get COD2! I'm really loving it so far. Great stuff! Very smooth controls, brilliant, extremely satisfying gameplay, beautiful graphics. Eases the pain I got from playing PDZ

The AI is fairly decent for the most part. Even the enemy AI is no slouch, as they usually will throw grenades into your area before they charge in and use cover fairly effectively.

It definitely helps especially on veteran to go slowly and let your squad do a lot of the work for you.

Yea, I'm playing it right now too. It can get really brutal on Veteran setting. Fantastic game. One of the best single player shooters I've ever tried.

Pointe du Hoc was owning me last night on Veteran. I am 2/3 the way through D-Day. Not sure how much more difficult this game can get. But it is absolutely a rush to play when things get intense. 5.1 FTW!!

Do you want to play multiplayer some time? I know it does not work well, but when it does it can be very fun. Just let me know.

Psst..... try the Brother in Arms series. Better and more intense in my opinion. Think of it as the "thinking man's" COD2. nice combination of RTS and FPS.

sure. I've only played deathmatches so far and it was not too bad, just that everyone looked for sniper positions and hid out. Sort of boring.

I prefer Headquarters. I have had some great matches in this mode.

I don't play many FPS games at all. My brother does, so we own both PDZ and COD2.

I never really played PDZ, COD2 is just amazing since I love history.

COD 2 is *easily* my favorite 360 game so far. Easily. I love it.

So I've finally finished it and I can say WITHOUT A DOUBT now that this is the best 360 launch game for me. It is also one of the best games I've played recently.

It has such a nice flow to it, the checkpoint system works great and even though it's fairly linear there are always several ways to tackle a situation. As soon as you start to understand how your buddies A.I. works it's really satisfying to work with them. It never happened to me once that I got stuck because of them or that their behaviour seemed strange in any way. There's a great feeling of immersion I got, walking, running and crawling through the missions, clearing objectives, getting new ones. I really like CoD's system and I'm already looking forward to CoD 3.

I never thought I'd get into a WWII shooter but it really was a surprisingly amazing experience. Thanks guys.
