We used to joke that Auburn was the minor league system of Texas, not it seems like the entire SEC is our farm team.

How's it been working out for you thus far? ;) Muschamp just left for Florida, so I guess you had to return the favor sometime.

Chizik is back at Auburn as well. Just wait till Mack retires ;)

Don't worry, Auburn's going to have some significant violations in the next couple years and probably be on probation again, he'll start looking for greener pastures pretty soon.

I didn't mean we will hire Chizik back, but I can see how you read it that way. That guy is a walking Death Penalty. I meant we have two former coordinators that are SEC HCs now.

You tried to take our DC too. Surprised you didn't go for Chaney as well.

I think that was just one of the many guys we interviewed, like Shannon and the Florida DC. I guess when we interviewed someone, people thought it meant we offered the job right there.

Either that, or Deloss Dodds is an evil genius at misinformation.

Oh yeah, the smackdown is coming sooner than later. Rumblings already.

Auburn’s top-ranked football team, which is preparing to play Oregon in Glendale, Ariz., for the national title on Monday, has tumbled in the N.C.A.A.’s most important academic measurement to No. 85 from No. 4 among the 120 major college football programs.

The decline came after the university closed several academic loopholes following a New York Times article in 2006 that showed numerous football players padded their grade-point averages and remained eligible through independent-study-style courses that required little or no work. Auburn has earned a certain sort of praise from those who were its toughest critics in 2006.

And Gordon Gee engaging in some schadenfreude:

“Auburn was in a rogue position and they corrected it,” said Gordon Gee, who in 2006, when he was Vanderbilt’s chancellor, was stunned that Auburn was ranked higher than his university. Gee is now president of Ohio State. “When those loopholes are closed and the issue is dramatically different, it shows that the loophole was being used. I applaud Auburn. They really did make a concerted effort to curb those abuses. We should applaud them even if they dropped 80 points.”

Was it already mentioned that James Rodgers is back next year?
Oregon State flanker James Rodgers has been granted a medical hardship for this past season, meaning he can return for 2011.

Rodgers, a senior, played in four of the team’s first five games before he suffered a left knee injury that required surgery.
Bad news for my Golden Bears, but good for him. Good player, and the extra year seemed eminently reasonable. You never know with the NCAA, though.

What the hell is the Daddy Bowl?

Wikipedia said:
The game was previously known as the Mobile Alabama Bowl from 1999 to 2000 until it received corporate sponsorship from GMAC Financial Services, formerly a unit of General Motors.

Truly one of the best bowls.

Was bored.

Didn't he play 3 games this season? It will be interesting if the NCAA grants Case Keenum his medical hardship
Yeah, you're allowed to play up to 30% of the season, IIRC.

On Keenum... doubt they will. Didn't he redshirt?

I still don't know how the hell I got myself into having 27 on the line for this game:lol
Jesus, I've got a lot on this one too. O_o

Jordan Shipley redshirted and medical'd. That's why he was like 24 when he graduated.

edit: Mallet and Ingram are entering the draft.

I just saw the Mallet news scroll across the ticker on ESPN. I was sort of hoping he would decide to stay after the Sugar Bowl. From watching him play the last two years, he always seems to struggle pretty badly when teams are able to get pressure on him. Not that his receivers did him much help on Tuesday.

Edit: bluemax has a very good point below.

Did they show Tim Tebow going around campus on his little blue scooter?

"Come on! Do you know who I am? I'm Ryan Mallett!"

He'd be stupid to stay after Luck did. Luck staying just gained Mallet a bunch of money.

Continued silence from all quarters on Harbaugh.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the longer this drags on, the more I'm inclined to think he's going back to the Farm.

While not official links, sounds like Janoris Jenkins (DB from Florida) is leaving early (per The Schad) and from Georgia, AJ Green, Justin Houston and Brandon Boykin are leaving early (per KelinJohnson, a former Georgia player on Twitter)

Oh, and I think I saw that Will Hill from Florida was entering in early too, not sure if I saw that here.

Gotta love the announcers laughing it up over the old "Refrigerator Bowl."

Um, you guys are announcing for the "GoDaddy.com Bowl." Zero room to criticize.

"Dwight Dasher doing a great job of working the sideline and not throwing an intercep-....well except for that play. Dasher picked off at the 29 yard line.."

:lol :lol :lol
