WVU should have been the BCS AQ from the Big East, but USF couldn'y have beat a jr high team saturday :(

my Cards are headed to st. pete for the beef o'bradys bowl, any southern miss fans on GAF?

all in all, very happy with the coach Strong hire, and look forward to rebuilding next year and being a good team in 2012

Its ok we are pretty terrible.

When does that start? Also I see that the Outback bowl is no longer at 11. I am glad someone finally realized that 11 is a terrible time to have a football game on new years day. Also Jan. 1 games haven't been a big deal since the BCS started.

Yeah I remember when we played Tenn a few yrs back and was like fuuuuu what is this bs

It really sucks that Michigan State is out of a BCS bowl while Va Tech and UConn are in. It's stupid, really.
Fixed.

Nebraska and Boise didn't get screwed. Michigan State did.

The two-team-per-conference limit is one of many stupid BCS rules.

:/ So much for that one.

Have to say, im really shocked by this news.
Word around the Farm is he's not happy about the poor attendance, but he's quite happy about the low pressure and not having to deal with much media attention. And he feels like he's built something sustainable. *shrug* I still think he leaves if Luck does. And if Luck's projected #1, he'd be a fool not to go.

Alamo Bowl stepped up with a *huge* payday.

The Alamo Bowl is now the Big 12 number 3 (behind Fiesta and Cotton) and Pac 10 number 2.

It's also been moved to a January 1st game. It's going to take a few years to get used to, but the Alamo Bowl is now a big boy bowl.

Alamo Bowl isn't a Jan 1 game.

concur.

shit is disgusting.

fine with me.

I put my money on RichRod having one more year to prove he can field a competent defense. That's how I'd prefer it, anyway. Here's hoping someone talks him down from the 3-3-5 cliff. But either way, he'll have been given a fair and full chance to get his system to work in a bigger conference. he'll sink or swim next season.

GO BLUE.

Season prediction time!

vs Western Michigan - win
vs Florida Atlantic - win
vs Notre Dame- win
vs Northern Colorado - win
vs Wisconsin - loss
@ Michigan - win
vs Illinois - win
@ Northwestern - win
@ Iowa - win
vs Minnesota - win
vs Purdue - win
@ Penn State - loss

I'm very optimistic about this season.

Think I did pretty well predicting. Thought We'd be 10-2, but ended up 11-1. Mixed up Wisconsin and Iowa, and Penn State was worse than I expected.

National championship: Alabama vs Ohio State - Very wrong

Big Ten predictions:

Iowa doesn't live up to hype. - True
Michigan goes bowling, but not to a good one. - True
Penn State will lose to a team it shouldn't. - True-ish?
Purdue will surprise people and win 7 or 8 games. - Wrong

Hmm. Not gonna go back and find mine, but IIRC they were:

Davis - W
Colorado - W
@ Nevada - L
@ Arizona - L
UCLA - W
@ USC - L
Arizona State - W
@ Oregon State - L
@ Washington State - W
Oregon - W (hey, we were close)
Stanford - W (ell oh ell)
Washington - W (...)

So I was spot on right up until Riley got hurt. If Riley doesn't get hurt, I could see us beating Oregon and U Dub. Furd played a flawless game; I don't think we could've beaten them with Aaron Rodgers in the backfield.

Auburn are going to be national champions. We will finally have redemption from being overlooked in 2004, when we were obviously the best team in the nation as we are now.

Suck it haters, Cam Newton's winning the Heisman and the BCS bowl.

Really?

I had to laugh at Husky fans getting excited about the Holiday Bowl. I guess they hadn't heard that it had been demoted. I need to read some of their reactions to being rematched with Nebraska now.

I'm just glad my alma mater managed to pull in the head coach and offensive coordinator they did.

Time to celebrate!

I predicted a 9-3 regular season record at the beginning but I had us losing to Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida. I had no idea we'd actually beat Bama and UF but lose to Kentucky :(

I'm pretty pumped about the match up with FSU.

Ho hum matchup for us. This will probably be the first time JoePa beats us, though.

Just noticed that Cecil is at the bottom and not Link. Can't stop sending this to all my Auburn friends.

What a bunch of stinker matchups for the bowls. You know it's bad when it's impossible to muster enthusiasm for the vast majority of them, and they're hard to make fun of.

Worst bowl of all time award nominees:

Insight Bowl: Nebraska vs. Washington -- We'll all be waiting with bated breath in front of our TVs to watch a rematch of a game that was even more lopsided than the 56-21 score indicated. Let's see if Locker can complete more than 4 passes this time!

Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. UConn -- Terrible mismatch on both sides of the ball... but the Huskies have those
worthless
intangibles of toughness and hustle on their side. This one's gonna be a battle down to the end
of the first quarter
.

Pretty happy with OSU's matchup though. Zona is a team we should beat, and it felt good to get the third best B12 bowl. 11-2 would be a nice steppingstone to next season's epic Round Robin battle! :P

well maybe OK seems to have a hard time with big east teams this year, well at least the one they played this year.
Don't get me wrong, OU has the capability of losing to UConn. Hell, they should have lost to Cincy and only beat Utah State by a touchdown at home. Not to mention that they laid complete eggs in their last five BCS games.

I would normally be rooting hard for OU to lose, but my wife's family is from Connecticut and they constantly talk shit about how UConn is a new football powerhouse and can take on those crappy teams from flyover country.

The tipping point will inevitably be when they make some comment about "us" playing "them" in the bowl game, as if OSU and OU are indistinguishable. Yes I got my law degree from OU, but I am not one of "them." :D

After much whining my wife has given me the ok to go to the Rose Bowl as long as the baby is delivered healthy by December 19th. So cross your fingers!

(I missed Opening Day for the first time in my life because of our wedding. This family shit sucks)

Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled at some of this year's bowl matchups either. Some could be good, though. Here are my thoughts on a few bowls that stick out to me:

Wednesday, December 22
Las Vegas
8 PM Utah vs. Boise St

I expect to see BSU slaughter Utah in this game. Aside from the NU/UWub game, this one stands out to me as having the potential to be the most lop-sided bowl this year.

Monday, December 27
Independence
5 PM Georgia Tech vs. Air Force

I hate Shreveport, and I hate this bowl. But alas, I'm just happy for Tech that they limped into a bowl game this year. Will be interesting to see two option-style offenses go at it. I would like Tech's chances more if they had Nesbitt, though.

Tuesday, December 28
Sports
6:30 PM NC St vs. West Virginia

This seems like a pretty interesting matchup. NCSU has looked really good at times, and pretty mediocre at others. Same with WV. If both of these teams play at the highest level they have all season, I can see this game coming down to the very end.

Texas
6 PM Illinois vs. Baylor
Alamo
9:15 PM Oklahoma St vs. Arizona

If I'm back from my skiing trip to CO by then, I may check out one of these two games since I live in-between them. I'm happy to see Baylor make a bowl, and I like their chances against a similar QB in Illinois. In the Alamo, I fully expect to see OSU pull away from Zona in the second half.

Friday, December 31
Peach
7:30 PM Florida St vs. South Carolina

This is a pretty good matchup. Cocks better hope they perform better than the last time they played on this field... :P

Saturday, January 1
Citrus One
1 PM Mich St vs. Alabama

I really look forward to this one. Spartans are pissed because they were the odd man out in the BCS bowls, and Alabama is pissed because they lost two games that they could have won.

Rose
5 PM Wisconsin vs. TCU

Nice to see TCU in a big bowl, but this is a serious case of David vs. Goliath. It will not be easy for them.

Fiesta
8:30 PM Oklahoma vs. UConn

*yawn*

UCONN. As a proud alum, nice to see them win the Big East and get propelled, will only mean better things from their football program in the future.

I can't feign much interest besides seeing the various SEC streaks continue or fail. Watching Carolina play like shit in another years bowl game will be a big letdown from the possibility of winning the SEC and wiping that smug grin off Cammy Cam's face.

"Oh well there's always next year"

Oh no doubt it's good for the program. My problem isn't with UConn, but the BCS. Then again, this horse has been beaten to a pulp by now.

Humanitarian
5:30 PM N Illinois vs. Fresno St

Looks like the NIU coach is going to bail on his team, since he got hired at Minnesota. Fresno has got this, yo!! :D

Maybe they'll even get to join a real football conference!

Paul Wulff to return as coach for Wazzu. 5-32 record over 3 years. 2 of the wins against FCS teams.

On one hand, the team is getting noticeably better. On the other, has any coach, in the history of D1 football, ever failed so badly and gotten to come back for a 4th year?

He (Dabo Swinney) said he wanted to build momentum heading into the off-season for a team that he says is talented and is just a few kicks away from a 9-3 season instead of the current 6-6 record.

Oh, Dabo. You're so silly.

Heck, we're only 40pts away from being SEC Champs!

Getting an alum who wanted to coach here is what got OSU over the hump into consistent success, but damn. Wulff's record is just astoundingly bad.

You've gotta think he needs to win at least 6-7 games next year to keep his job. Looking at their schedule for next year, I'd say that's is the absolute ceiling.

:lol such hostility from the "football" conferences.
My only regret is that OSU didn't do its part and get to the Fiesta Bowl so that I could finally hear the end of my in-laws bragging about UConn's football "program."

If only we were lucky enough to be in the "Table Scrapes from Texas" Conference like OSU (Not Ohio State or Oregon State, the third one).

What is a table scrape?

P.S. There are 5 teams in the Big 12 that would have won the Big East this year.

OU, OSU, Nebraska, Mizzou, TAMU. And Baylor would have been competitive.

Kill! Kill! KILLLLL!
Desperate to get a struggling football program headed in the right direction, Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi spent two months conducting an exhaustive search to find the right man for the job.

The process was completed Sunday night when Maturi agreed to terms with Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill on a five-year contract to take over the downtrodden Golden Gophers.

“We cast a wide net in this search, but the name we kept coming back to was Jerry Kill,” Maturi said in a statement. “Coach Kill has won at every level of coaching and has a history of rebuilding programs. I’m confident we have chosen the right man to lead the Golden Gopher program.”

It's pretty stupid, actually. That should be Boise St. playing in that game. Nobody but UConn fans can be happy about that one.

And if not UConn's spot, Boise definitely deserves Va Tech's spot. AQ teams ruin everything. Losing to an FCS team should disqualify you for BCS bowling.
Yeah. I am a husky fan though :lol

Obviously there are more qualified teams that should get the spot instead of us, no ones disputing that. They legitimately qualified though, and its good visibility for the program even if they get blown out.

As for people who's families think we could hang with the football powerhouses, idk, maybe they're high or something. But there is optimism that they'll be in that league someday. They've only been an FBS team less than a decade.

Just like it was good visibility for Hawaii to play in the Sugar Bowl. It's only a good appearance if UConn puts up a good fight, IMO.

Didn't see this posted: Three Texas coaches, including OC Greg Davis, are "retiring/resigning"
