is there something about the gaming side I don't know about? what was so wrong with his first unedited post? People say more crass and rude things every single day (damn near post) in the OT

Wasn't the MWC considering cannibalizing the WAC for some schools in order to dissolve that league and leave BYU fucked for non-revenue sports? Kind of like the Big Te12's idea of attacking the Big East to pry ND free? I wonder if that will still happen now.

Its heavily moderated, and they are less likely to let something questionable slide. I don't begrudge the mods for it. If they don't squash things quickly, megathreads can turn into flame wars rather quickly, drowning out all actual news and discussion.

Didn't even really think about it. Man, I am sure they are regretting offering invites to the WAC instead of a C-USA team or two.

Do you know how long they got him for?

Edit: I have a fantasy draft in < 30 mins. Any one got some good tips on steals? I don't follow the NFL. I know that Peyton Manning is a good QB and that Chirs Johnson will probably be gone before I can draft him. What about Harvin or Peterson? Gah! I haven't done any research this year. Who is supposed to be the top defense this year?

Hmm...I got banned for 2 weeks. So maybe that long?

WAC and MWC might as well join forces now...

BYU seems to be trying to schedule big opponents, I think if they continue to do so and win their seasons out, that might get them into a BCS game easier than doing it from the MWC (especially with Boise St, their would-be new master)

Fuck that. I got a month for trolling in the Gypsy thread last year. :lol

No, I think the MWC was using that as a threat to BYU in order to keep them in check. I wonder if BYU received assurances from the WAC teams that they won't jump ship?

Unless you are getting top pick, you aren't getting AP. Harvin should be a safe bet for receiver, though.

RIP WAC.

The WCC just became the best conference on the West Coast for hoops (eat it Karakand).

Edit: MRE the only Fantasy draft sleeper advice I can offer is former USC stud Big Mike Williams (Seahawks). You can probably get him super late in the draft and there's a good chance he could be the #1 receiver for the Seahawks this year, at the least he's probably gonna rack up a good number of TDs in the redzone.

I'm third. ESPN has the RBs listed like so:

CJ
AP
Maurice Jones-Drew. Would he be a good pick up? Why am I still in a fantasy football league? :lol

Edit: reading comprehension FTL. BYU is joining up with the WCC, I see. Touche, LDSers. Touche.

No idea, I just googled "site:neogaf.com perfectchaos007" and organized by latest to find out about this. The ridiculous part about this is how inane the comment he made was. The review was released yesterday, and had probably already been discussed to death in that thread. People are talking about actually playing Metroid now, rather then discussing reviews.

Already done, they took Fresneck and Nevada. The WAC is essentially doomed.

I don't mean to denigrate the dearly departed, but... you're surprised by this?

It's either Gainesville or Tax School that is sucking away my reading comprehension. I'm leaning towards Gainesville, given all of the G-A-F threads that end up coming from FL.

Edit: is Maurice Jones-Drew expected to be a solid back this year?

Well I got it mocking weeboos. So maybe that's the leniency?

Wow the WAC is dead. Their headquarters is down the street from my folk's place.

Jahvid Best!

But seriously, Marshawn Lynch!

While I will admit first hand that Pitt has lackluster attendance...your picture is also deceiving. Take pictures of the Cincinnati and Notre Dame games and you will see a full stadium. Do we fill the stadium out everygame like I wish we would? No. but then again we have to play Thursday night games and people don't want to take off to get drunk.

Penn State folks had nothing to do in their cornfield other than drink and go to a Saturday football game. That mentality stays with most of them through their existance. Temple is in town??!?! Lets drink! I will say that they are very passionate and I have been to State College on a football weekend and it is fun. But there really isnt anything else to get excited about out there.

Pitt fans dont' go to the football games because they are too busy being jaded at the ridiculous cost of parking and they have to work just to save up enough to get season tickets for a basketball program that has been consistently one of the best the last 10 years.

That was started once my cousin got there and tore shit up :D

Why did you do that? Didn't you see a bloodbath was coming as soon as the Euros started calling for the death of gypsies?

Thanks for the link!

I have no clue why I did that. I was trolling the people that were over-trolling the Euros. I'd just started a clerkship and wouldn't be online much for the next six-weeks, so I guess I didn't mind.

So... does BYU going indy shed any light on this from a few days ago?

Texas Admins have been meeting in Provo with BYU Admins

This could be based on 3 scenarios:

1. Texas is looking to launch its own network and is looking to BYU (which already has one in place and is about to finish the only HD broadcast center owned by a University) for help in the initial stages (most likely)

2. BYU is a likely candidate for Big XII expansion

3. Texas and BYU are both going independent and are forming a loose alliance for scheduling purposes.

Its all speculation at this point but they have been in Provo recently and that is fact.

Shoddy journalism. What about option four: UT administrators are considering converting the school into a sectarian school based on the dogmatic principles of the Mormon church.

Bye BYU, don't let the door mangle your sorry ass on the way out. And the WAC am fucked. Let's see here, 6 schools left. Utah State, New Mexico State, Hawaii, Idaho, San Jose St. and Louisiana Tech. I'm not sure those teams will even find another conference that plays football. Big Sky? Yep, I feel for those guys. A little. Current rumors are that Hawaii goes independent, they won't have a problem getting schools to come over as they don't count as official games AND it's Hawaii. Next up, MWC steals UH and UTEP from CUSA and LaTech and NMSU go there. Don't know about the other 3. A buddy of mine who played for the Niners and then the Chiefs played at SJSU so they can't be THAT bad. Right? RIGHT?!?!?

We'll find out on Saturday.

Avoid Ben Tate, Donnie Avery, Vincent Jackson, Sidney rice, Anthony Bryant, laverneus Coles, torry holt. Make sure you do not pick up someone that isn't playing!

Well... they barely beat Cal Poly last year, if that tells you anything.

It sucks, but I'm guessing they don't catch on anywhere, are forced into independence, and eventually fall to I-AA.

Edit: Just for reference, they came extremely close to failing the FBS attendance requirements earlier this decade.

Thanks! Felix Jones or Brandon Jacobs?

Gah, too slow! I got Jones.

Hard choice, as in my draft I got both of them. But I chose Felix first. According to some of Giant-GAF, Jacobs is on his way out. That Bradshaw is the lead back now.

Typing on itouch, from the throne. So, typey is slowie.

Here are my picks so far (damn, I should be studying):

QB: Kolb
RB: Rice
RB: Jones
WR: Harvin
TE: Finley

I need some tips on some Defenses.

Edit: is Welker supposed to bounce back this year?

You're gonna want a better QB. Kolb has looked terrible this preseason.

Qb: bad
Rb1: great
Rb2: good
Wr: good
Te: good

I wouldn't get NO's defense. It was good because of turnovers. But that's not guaranteed to repeat.

Seriously at Kolb? damn. I snagged Rice and everyone else went for QBs. Maybe Brent Farve is still available.

Someone got Welker. Looks like TO for me, then the Saints or a QB. Someone got Brent. Bastards.

Just man up and ask in the NFL thread already. It won't be any fun if I'm the only one picking on you.

And yes. Frankly, I'd draft Welker before Harvin. Defense is going to depend on the scoring system. B'More and Pittsburgh are always solid, but NO actually got a ton of takeaways last year. Are takeaways more important than not letting up points/yards?

Yards aren't considered. Scoring D starts at 7 points and goes down. Ints/fumbles are 2 each. More for TDs off of them.

I ended up with both TO and Edelman. Maybe 85 will open it up a bit for TO.

Am I the only one who hadnt heard of the WCC until today?

They don't play football in that "conference".

@mre - I'd take the Steelers, but I'm a Steelers fan. NYJ should be good for defense, also.

EDIT: There's still a gaf FF league with a bunch of spots open if anyone wants in. PM me or search through the NFL thread.

Yeah, I'm still laughing at Philly going with Kolb. It's like Anyone deciding Colt Brennan will get the job done!

In the Neogafers league (one of them), I went:

QB Brees
WR Brandon Marshall
RB Cedric Benson
RB Felix Jones
TE Vernon Davis
RB CJ Spiller
RB Brandon Jacobs
WR TO
WR Dez Bryant
QB Rooflesburger
TE Greg Olson
WR/RB McClusterfuck
WR Anthony Gonzo

This was my draft order, except I think I took K and DEF before Olson

Kicker is JANOWSKAAAAASKI
Defense is Cincy

I'm not a great chooser of talent, I messed up with the bye week situation with my starting RB's, hence the amount of RB's taken. McCluster's interesting, because he's in there as RB and WR. So I can have some leeway in which category I put him in.
Standard Yahoo league
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 K
1 DEF

Nice thought on McCluster! I wonder if Shipley's been taken.

Vince Young showed promise, right?

Mojo is consistent as hell. He's always going to put up solid numbers, especially since he has that breakaway potential.

Plus, I guarantee he knocks out at least one linebacker on a block, knocked the steroids out of Merriman that one year.:D
