Noted. Thanks!
You don't have to get it right away since you have a while, but definitely start planning scenarios where you can pounce early before people see what you really need as week 10 approaches.

the NCAA would type a response to you but Cam Newton stole the laptop that Jeremiah Masoli stoled from the NCAA.

The NCAA should just check in the bushes outside of Newton's room then.

Is it bad that I'm scared of Elon? Riddle is no joke at QB and they have a good offense. We saw what happened with Richmond last year, but given how all our main players were in that game and remember the embarrassment on how the Spiders dominated Duke, I think they won't let that happen again. Not having half the team recovering from the swine flu should help as well

Some info about combat Uni's along with leaked OSU sketches.

• Miami: Tonal Fir palm-frond print emblematic of South Florida incorporated into the jersey numbers, pant and footwear.

• Alabama: Houndstooth check pattern incorporated into the uniform in tribute to legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

• Boise State: Reflective, Game Royal Bronco head on the uniform echoes the famed blue turf of Bronco stadium.

• Florida: Alligator-skin motif used in the jersey numbers, pant, gloves and footwear inspired by menacing Gator mascot.

• Ohio State: Stylized script numbers, a replica U.S. flag on the jersey sleeve and the camouflage-print base layer honor the WWII-bound Buckeyes, National Champions of 1942.

• Oregon State: Retro design revives a look worn by the victorious 1967 "Giant Killers."

• Pittsburgh: Notched Team Gold jersey numbers and stencil stripe on the helmet evoke steel I-beams in reference to Pittsburgh's steel industry.

• TCU: Icy lizard-skin pattern used throughout the uniform inspired by the scaly body armor of TCU's horned frog mascot and a memorable quote from celebrated coach Leo "Dutch" Meyer.

• Virginia Tech: All-black uniform references the cadet gray-and-black regalia worn by Virginia Tech's original football team and honors the school's current Corps of Cadets.

• West Virginia: A headlamp-like line running front-to-back on the helmet and smudged Black pattern on the uniform pay respect to the region's coal mining industry.

Fuck that. I got a month for trolling in the Gypsy thread last year. :lol

As a direct descendant from real Hungarian Gypsies, I'll be the first to suspect that everything you said was probably true.

It's just not the same without Auburn fans to argue with. We just have to make the jokes and let 'em fly on their own.

"Alabama: Houndstooth check pattern incorporated into the uniform in tribute to legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant."

Mother of God. Fuck Nike.

@Limedust: I didn't say anything negative about Gypsies. I don't really have feelings either way about them. Someone made a ridiculous comparison to the Gypsy situation today to that of the Jews in Germany pre-WWII, so I started baiting him. :p

So, are they going to make the numbers checked like the Va Tech ones are exposed circuit boards?

Man, I don't know. I think they're being revealed tomorrow at 9 CST, or something like that. Now that they've thrown out the H word, I'm getting nervous.

Full checkered jersey!

EDIT: See 1916 New York Giants for what I hope they look like:

those OSU ones are so blah. Some of the designs sound cool, though.

Those are only sketches, so im reserving judgment on them. Im not expecting to be blown away nor angry based off the sketches.

I suppose that would be better than if they tried to fit a facemask onto one of the Bear's houndstooth hats. I hate Nike. I *almost* wish we'd gone 13-13 the past two years just so that we would have avoided Nike's gaze. Almost.

@that picture. Oh, God. :lol

Believe.

I'll hit the season prediction. Best case, 7-5 and first bowl since 98? 94? Fuck I can't remember other than Wiscy beat the shit out of Duke in it.

Worst case, 3-9, young inexperienced d-line gives up too many plays, Duke loses a few close games.

Most likely 5-7. Too young on defense, we miss a bowl yet again.

vs Elon W 35-21
at Wake W 27-24

vs Bama HAHAHAHAHAHA, betting on L 42-14, they'll be coming off the Penn St game and they don't need style points with their schedule.
vs Army W 28-10
at UMD W 21-17, this game can go either way but if Duke can't win it or any of the preceding games (save Bama) then bowl hopes go down the hooooole.

Schedule toughens up here

vs Miami L 35-10 Too many athletes here. Duke has played the canes close past couple of years but I don't see it this year.
at VT L 35-14 Blacksburg VA: where Duke football goes to die.
at Navy. Best case W 28-24, worst case L 35-21. It depends on how Duke can play the option. Duke has played Navy tough last two games, winning the last one and coming up short by a FG in 07. I'm leaning towards a Navy win here.
vs UVA. W 35-28. The last "winnable" game on the schedule in that Duke and UVA are equal in terms of talent. Mike London is no slouch and owned Duke with Richmond last two times he played them. Can go either way, but I think Duke wins.

Home stretch

vs BC L 42-28 I think Duke has an outside shot to beat BC as (other than Navy) this is the best chance for Duke to beat someone they should not. I doubt it since BC is solid and probably the 2nd best team in the Atlantic. Injuries and fatigue take their toll here.

at GT L 48-10. Worst loss of the season, even vs Bama.

vs UNC L 28-21 or best case W 24-17. UNC owns Duke in football, in terms of records, but the games have been mighty close. The best case ONLY happens if the UNC defense is hurt by the NCAA investigation, last year it was too good for Duke to move the ball against. If it is hurt by it, then Duke will still need to fire on all cylinders to win. The UNC offense is not scary at all, especially with Houston gone and T J Yikes at QB. They are good enough to score points on Duke's D to where their D can just take over.

Army AND Navy? Taking scheduling tips from Notre Dame? Look at the Navy game as a warm up for GT.

Don't forget, you're talking Duke Football here. Navy is a better program right now than Duke is. Army? Well Duke has to play ranked Alabama, GT, VT, UNC and Miami, with BC just outside the top 25. The only gimme's are Army and Elon (God, I hope) Duke is either slightly better or equal with WF, UMD and UVA, meaning they could lose those games just as easily as winning.

Anybody else gonna be at Autzen this weekend? :D

My uncle pays for some pretty damn awesome 50 yard line season tickets + Pittman room passes each year. Can't wait! Though I'm a bit nervous to see how we'll do without Masoli this year.

I'll make my mid-major prediction as well.

@ Northwestern- win
vs Ball state - win
@ Virginia Tech- loss
vs Miami (OH) - win

The only games I see Iowa losing is OSU, Wisc. and maybe PSU.

Thank god.. Texas dodged the Pro Combat uni bullet.

I feel we got away with one last year with Nike not really going crazy with our Uni's at all. My guess is our unwillingness to allow Nike to give us a crazy jersey/helmet has a lot to do with us not getting a Pro combat uni this year.

If it isn't glaringly obvious that Nike is doing something odd for the sake of it it brings no attention to their new uniform technology.

That said, TCU should use the pro combat designs full time. They look better than their actual uni's despite my initial thoughts of frog skin patterned pants being stupid sounding.

If you or any GAF-Duck contingents is going to the USC game, I have a hidabed if you need a place to crash.

Didn't they have it last year on the collar?

Either in 06 or 07. I want to say Shula's last season.

I actually didn't mind this, as it was such a small detail, that you couldn't see until the camera was up close.

Remember, the last two years, Iowa's only been truly dominant in maybe four games against FBS teams, and they've nearly lost to two FCS teams. Let's go through the loses I have them pegged for:

ISU - If there's one constant from the Ferentz era, it's inconsistency against Iowa State, if his "up" years weren't as up as they have been, he would've been Coopered out of Iowa City after 2007. The loss to ISU is due this year.

Arizona - Iowa doesn't show up for night games. The last time they played @ 'Zona, they got destroyed.

PSU - A better team and an obvious revenge game.

Mich - I may be one of the few that thinks Michigan's going to do well this year. Well, at least better. With Iowa limping in to Ann Arbor, I think they'll be easy pickings for RichRod.

Wisc - A better team.

MichSt - Revenge plus a dispirited Iowa team.

jNW - Until Iowa proves to me that they can beat them, I have to chalk it up as an L

tOSU - A better team.

You're one of those reverse psychology guys, huh?
Nope. Iowa graduated a lot talent last year with, what, 5-6 draft picks. Angerer was a stud on defense, and Moeaki was a key outlet for Stanzi on offense. The O-line is a ghost town. Wegher left, Hampton's fragile and Robinson's a sophomore, not a RB corp I trust.

Iowa's left with an INT machine and Adrian Clayborn. It's not nothing, but I wouldn't give them a shot at a decent season unless they played Illinois and Purdue this year.

Normally, I'm part of the "Iowa is underrated" crowd but this has trap season written all over it. They're certainly overrated. Best case? 7-5.

Well see, that's where we're going to come to blows, if anything, Iowa is pretty consistently underrated.

Oooo
Ahhh
Wish you were a Chippewaaaa

Eh, I don't think we're gonna do so well this year. I think Northwestern will take us out but we'll take out Western Michigan, too. WMU are our bitches. It's gonna be interesting with our new coach and QB, also having lost Antonio Brown. We could still get a bowl game this year though.

On the plus side they have a friendly schedule and Adrian Clayborn. On the minus side they just don't know how to put lesser opponents away yet.

True, true. Generally they are only underrated when they aren't rated at all. Seems like every year they are pre ranked top 15, they end up unranked. Maybe it is my deep hatred for Iowa blinding me. :) can't wait to have an emotional rivalry again.

It seems Iowa puts together a good squad every 3-4 years, then after that season falls back to mediocre. Ferentz hasn't put together two really good season his whole career there. Maybe this year he breaks it?
