My favorite Spongebob moment ever:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMXk_70H3Vw#t=5m48s

Mr. Krabs: "Where's the X? It's supposed to be right here. 10,000 paces East."

Patrick: "Ohhhhhhhhhh.......East? I thought you said...Wiest."

Mr. Krabs: "Wiest? What kind of compass are you reading, lad?"

Patrick: "This one, sir."

*hands over compass to Mr. Krabs*

Mr. Krabs: "That's West, Patrick..........You're fired again."

:lol :lol :lol

Patrick: It's off to jail for you, Mr. Krabs!

Mr. Krabs: Arggh! Patrick, you're fired!

Patrick: But I don't even work here!

Mr. Krabs: Would you like a job, starting now?

Patrick: Boy would I!

Mr. Krabs: You're fired.

and

Flying Dutchman: Y'arggh! But it be based off a REAL treasure chest!

Krabs: Status report Mr Squarepants!

Spongebob: The whole ship is underwater captain.

Krabs: Argh. We're marooned then.

Seriously, the Treasure Map episode is fucking awesome.

I caught this as an adult, and kept thinking before "What everybody so up and up for Spongebob, it sounds so retarded." The designs, settings, basically the who design of it all looked unappealing to me.

I finally watched a few episodes out of boredom a few years back...and hooly shiiiiite....this is a kid's show?! It's amazing!

I definitely loved this show as a kid

What the hell?

It's from one of the newer episodes. Spongebob ends up drifting into some faraway town and has been wandering around for three days, so when he asks someone for directions, he looks uber disgusting.

That seems a little too disturbing for a cartoon aimed towards kids. I probably would have been freaked out if I saw that when I was little.

Oh, fuck those eyes creep me out.

Pre-movie Spongebob was amazing. The training video episode might be my fav (that was pre-movie, right?).

Yeah, they did that a lot. Probably just a nod to Ren and Stimpy, if anything.

Yes, and that was hilarious. The image for talking to your boss was an electric chair. :lol

It's pure genius.
Why are you using such outdated things SpongeBob?

We have technology! *shows computer and smashes it*

:lol :lol

:lol :lol :lol :lol Omfg. I'm in tears.

Not really.

I mean, I don't hate it or anything....

But it seems pretty standard and bland to me. The 90's was filled with similar cartoons that did it better.(Ren & Stimpy anyone)

And that's without getting into the classics like Tex Avery, Looney Tunes, Walter Lantz...

Yeah, not too big on Spongebob. But at least it offers young children a chance to see decent animation with slapstick humor.

I liked that episode where Mr Crabs and Spongebob thought they murdered the health inspector. And then proceed to take his body and bury it while hiding from the police :lol

I told my brother about this one and he loled but didn't think much of it...then he SAW it and laughed his ass off, such a messed up episode. Another fave of mine is the one where Spongebob breaks his ass and the ep ends with a live action dude in a gorilla suit and a pantomime horse.....such an awesome show ...

I'm gonna do The Squidward!

The same happened to me, but it only took 1 episode, the show is fantastic.

Why not admit it? There's no shame in liking SpongeBob. It's the funniest kids cartoon I've ever seen. When the promos first started airing on TV I braced myself for the worst. The name alone was enough to annoy me. For months I dismissed it as nothing more than another stupid Nickelodeon show until my friend got me into it, and then I loved it.

After the movie came out the show seemed to have a new style of direction. I think it was the result of the creator leaving the show. The pacing is way too fast now and the dialogue is completely unfunny.

It's been a while since I last saw an episode, but I think my favorite would have to be Wet Painters, where SpongeBob and Patrick are tasked with painting the inside of Mr. Krabs' house.

Finally some love for Band Geeks. I used to get so mad (and heck I still do) when Nick had top Spongebob lists and that episode was nowhere to be found.

Another great episode is the one where they start having snowball fights and they get Squidward all into it. You see Patrick trying to make a snowball and you see him end up with cubes, DNA strands, and dang I can't remember what else. Guess it's time to buy some DVD's.

Patrick: "Are you squidward?"
.

.
Patrick: "Are you Squidward now?"

edit: Also "opposite day". Patrick's impression of squidward gets me every time

edit: I always assumed it was rubbish kids TV but watched it when my kids started to watch it. It is genuinely funny. Absurd and slapstick with just enough self-knowing and winks to the older audience. Perfect.

I have no idea what seasons they have shown in the UK, but they're all good.

Has Spongebob really been around so long that people can reference how they felt about it "as a kid?"

*Checks Wiki*

TEN YEARS? Wow.

I just saw a new episode with Plankton and mr Crabs working together. Not like the beginning of the series but I still very much enjoy it! :D

I don't quite get the "come on, admit it" part of the title. I thought this was one of those shows everyone admits to liking? Haha.

Truth. If they stop making Spongebob I shall be saddened.

I usually thought Spongebob has bad connotations, not knowing that it was once good.

Nah, I just can't get into it.

For years I always thought SBSP, was some stupid, cash-in, Nickleodeon cartoon, or some crappy disney cartoon. Then one-day after persevering through a few episodes, it just clicked. I thought, "This is genius". It is probably one of the best modern cartoons. It has integrity, great scripts, it's genuine, creative. The animations are brilliant, it is really smooth flowing. Not like some of the cheap Anime you get nowadays. And those zoomed in freeze frames are just excellent. The detailing is phenominal. It has such mature, dark themes, portrayed in a child-like medium. It is like dual layered, and esoteric.

I haven't kept up with much TV lately, has the original creator left the team now?
Has the quality gone down?

If so, that's a shame, it will really tarnish the image of such a great series.

How many episode and series' were there altogether?

It's still going and the original creator is long gone. It's under a new person. As for the quality of episodes, they've gone downhill for me with some being good, but the majority misses.

Yeah, the new episodes are not as good as the first four seasons, but there are gems in it. The one who took over was the assistant of the former head, ironically. You'd think he'd know more.
