Just gonna repost this for the new guy....

Hey dudes, I'm not into Marvel comics but I watch every MCU movie at the theater and I enjoy other things Marvel like the 90's cartoons (X-Men and Spider-man) and video games. Also I read some famous stories like: Civil War 1, Kraven's Last Hunt, Daredevil Born Again, and a lot of Spider-man comics in the 90's.

With that said I'd like to know which Marvel comics would be a good jumping point for me now. I was thinking maybe Jonathan Hickman's Avengers? Or Brian Bendis All-New X-Men?

Or is there something newer that I should be looking into? If there is I would prefer but any suggestion is appreciated. I'm looking for the best Marvel comics out there.

Thanks.

PS. I'm huge DC fan, I read a lot of the classics, specially Batman stories, and almost everything I wanted of the New 52. Unfortunately I'm a little behind on Rebirth but I already know what to look for, I'm just too lost when it comes to Marvel.

For X-Men I'd avoid Bendis' run. It's not his best work. Start further back. Morrison's New X-Men run or Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run. The New X-Men (Academy X) run that came after Morrison's was pretty cool too. It focused on the younger mutants still in school. Then there is my personal favorite X-run Maddrox/X-Factor Investigations.

Those are all from the same basic era. If you want something a little more recent go with Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men run.

Gwenpool is the best book marvel currently publishes. Its nothing like Deadpool btw dont let the name fool you

Yes Gwenpool is the bees knees!

Giant Days continues to be great. Big month for DC and Marvel. Glad to see the Death Machine made it into the OP!

Excited to see that Slam Jam slam my jam, fam. Whenever I read the comic or look at the title, I think of all the inside jokes my comic partner and I have which are combinations of Space Jam, Barkley Gaiden, and the Japanese novel series Yukikaze references to the words slam and jam.

It's so funny to me. It's very dumb, but amusing. I knew it wasn't your choice to put it in.

Did this joke about you doing everything start from me thanking only you that one time? ._.

Good job on the Thread Messi.
If Starfire is just Goku and if Blackfure is Raditz, when is DC going to make the Vegeta character? Hopefully in another Starfire solo series.

Good luck ever seeing another Starfire solo series. That book bombed and it only got 12 issues due to Palmiotti and Conner. Even though the book was great :(

Why'd they make Eric Raymond so handsome in the comics? When you see him in the cartoon you instantly know he's a dick, but I guess he got that dick in this.

I bought two prints off of Warren recently. He offered to ship them to me even though he usually doesnt sell them outside of cons. super nice.

In the books reveal he felt the need to drop a mention to Black Lives Matter and the wage gap and the second he felt any kind of pushback he got defensive and started saying his batman wasnt political , wasnt SJW batman .

“My main goal was to undo the comic tropes while changing Gotham from a comic book city into a real city—a city dealing with everything from Black Lives Matter to the growing wage gap,” Murphy said in the interview. “[But] rather than write a comic about the wage gap, I gave those ideas to the Joker, who leads a kind of media war against Gotham’s elite by winning people over with his potent observations and rhetoric.”

That just killed the whole reason I was excited. I don't usually buy Batman comics but was gonna make an exception for this. He better frontpedal.

Hes been back peddling since the second the reveal happened and keeps putting his foot in it.

Also this is not a good look

I really hope he is aware of what they are implying...

I don't technically disagree with the centrist comment, but that's generally only applicable for a political climate where the right hasn't gone completely off the deep end.

Look at the last few tweets of those accounts....look at the people he is trying to appease...and the implication of what the messages they sent him have.

Guys... he's still trying to sell some comicbooks in the end. It's not like his actual story's going to change since a lot of it is finished by now. He's just saying this stuff so people will buy his products.

And he brings up in other tweets that he's been getting harassed by trolls and is clearly worried it'll damaged the comic's word of mouth.
