I felt this was the best episode of the season so far. Loved the P.E.E. stuff. I thought Abed was totally wasted on the Delta Cube plot, not that it was a bad idea but they didn't give him enough time to shine.

What happened to the show in the most recent episode? The writing was completely different, the characters were slightly different - everything was slightly off. All the previous episodes were also slightly off, but they were definitely Community.

The sudden cuts back and forth between the gym and barber scenarios was very odd. The conversation between Jeff and Pierce in the barber shop felt awkward and forced, and the whole Shirley and Troy Gym thing was just bad.

There have been some "lessons" stories in all seasons of Community, but the point of the lessons in this episode felt extremely forced.

They've always managed to make the "lessons/moral of the story" kind of episodes work, or atleast made them somewhat interesting, but everything just fell apart in this episode -- it was basically written like any one of those several mediocre sitcoms on TV, but in Community format.

And, somehow, they managed to make the whole Abed Delta Cube thing annoying.

The episode was so bad, and weird, that I was actually thinking that they were going to reveal the episode to be a spoof or a joke, or something to that effect.

Also, the baby voice and "mean authority" voices of Shirley were annoying in Season 1, now it's just ridiculous.

I agree 100%. I just does not feel like the same Community anymore. They are just going through the motions now.

This was the first episode of the season that felt like a Dan Harmon episode to me. I really liked it, especially the PE-E scenes.

Shirley - Look at me!!!!
Troy - I see you.

I've sort of accustomed myself to the new Community. Before the season I lowered expectations, was still disappointed by a couple early episodes, but now think the new form of the show has found its footing. Not great, not the Community of before, but overall enjoyable.

I wouldn't go that far, but it was definitely one of the worst episodes of the season, even worse than some of the first 4 bad episodes. Everything felt extremely forced, and barely any laughs at all. The Abed thing was weird, since it seemed like there would be a payoff and then there wasn't. Maybe that story will continue?

Then again, I thought episode 5 was very good and laughed a lot. And episode 6 was also good, at least if you aren't a full on Chang hater. As has been mentioned, it's weird how much the opinions split. I think 5 was great and 6 was good and 7 was terrible, someone else thinks 7 was the best yet, it's all subjective I guess.
I'm right

Loved this episode. Feels like they're getting better by the week. The Pierce and Jeff scenes were good and reversed PE was cool, poor Troy :P

And Annie <3

hah when was this?

Troy - I see you.

Couldn't be further from the truth for me.

And the only time I laughed in the whole episode was in the end tag with Troy saying he had a headache and britta should proably go.

she really needs to do movies.

eh she's not a very good actress.

I thought this episode was okay, not the best but not bad.

I feel pretty bad for the new showrunners, they can't win.

Woah, I totally missed that this has started again.

So, what's the consensus on the quality so far, GAF?

It's different, but I think it's good. This season's been pretty polarizing though so you'll need to check it out yourself.

I'm gonna go get a sandwich, which, unlike "consensus on Community" is real.

Well said. There has never been a consensus about Community. This season is by far the most polarizing though.

Every week since the first ep there's people who say "this was my favorite episode this season" and people who say "I didn't laugh once, X was terrible. There's no soul anymore. Worst show on tv."

Well, this group over here loves it.

While this group over here hates it.

Group A says it's returned to what it was.

While Group B says it's even less Community than it was.

And tiny Group C back in the corner says the earlier episodes this season were more like what they think Community is and that this episode was terrible.

It's some of the stuff like this that makes it distractingly obvious how their budget has been cut and they can't film outside anymore.

Perfect avatar for this post.

Great episode, but I think both camps can agree that Abed's story was shitty.

Still better than the shitty sociopath treatment he got last season tho.

Seriously, he was going to cut off Jeff's hand. That's a little bit too far for the character.

Can't we have both Annie and Britta? I think Gillian Jacobs is amazing, bit doesn't mean I can't appreciate Brie.

As for the episodes, I've been ok with most. A little uneven but I've enjoyed most if the outside the first episode (which had its clever elements but wasn't really ha ha funny to me)

What does a lower budget have to do with filing outside vs inside? Why would it be more expensive to film outside?

I guess outside needs permits and is limited by time (lighting constantly changes). Also you have to get the whole crew to the site(s). Inside, you can film all day in one room.

Wow, I must be the only one who hates this episode here.

The subplots are ok, but the main plot sucks.

To me, only the season opener is worse.

They were using that same non-LACC library exterior since season 1. Check out the end of "Romantic Expressionism".

I'm on record as not liking this one as well.
Too many plots, and the 'main' plot wasn't interesting after they dropped any real idea of City sabotage
