Conker: Gettin Medieval (scrapped Conker game) concept showcase

I prefer the futuristic theme of the xbox remake's multiplayer personally.

They really should remake this game actually, was a nice take on Enemy Territories

Kinda disappointed that the video shows only like 4 seconds of gameplay (I guess I should have guessed that from the title, but I was expecting it to be the game-as-an-concept)

That was Live and Reloaded.

Man, that concept art was... DeviantART kind of bad.

Considering what was criticized about Live and Reloaded was the multiplayer I'm surprised that the team decided to pursue expanding on that. I feel like in the mid-2000's everyone was (and still is) trying to appeal to the dudebro crowd.

Makes no sense why they didn't start work on Orher Bad Day.

Welp, just confirmation that sometimes it's good to cancel an idea before it gets too far. They can't all be winners. This concept looks more like a sequel to Star Fox Adventures. No thank you.

Seems like it was a very early concept considering it was character artwork only and there wasn't even any prototype video or screenshots.

God dammit, this sucks. I would love a Conker sequel...the first game was really good, even the censored remake was fun.

Did you watch and listen to the video? It was going to be mulitplayer/co-op only, so I wouldn't consider it a true sequel.

Cool to see the concept artwork even if I don't really like it. Also, why does Seavor seem like he's about to cry in his interview?

I'd love a Conker game for Xbox One. Make it a sequel to bad fur day.

They could have a lot of modern parodies like BFD did.

The funny thing is Microsoft would probably be more strict today with violence and cursing than Nintendo was back on the N64. Man its still crazy to me Nintendo allowed that game to be made. Not that it was so bad or anything, just very Un-nintendo I guess.

Considering the N64 itself I don't get why this premise actually exists when their output from that generation dispels it. Yes a clear majority of nintendo games have a certain look or tone but n64 and snes have no shortage of them breaking from that format.

Didn't they say they had no idea why they remade the original or something to that effect?

If you look at the Nuts & Bolts video they uploaded you can see this one bit of concept art while they're talking about redesigning Banjo where he's like a grimdark medieval wizard guy with emo hair

It looks like they hired whoever did that art to do all of the art for this and its all pretty awful and weirdly sexualized

Like I know Conker was weird and adult and sometimes sexual but there's a difference between doing that for laughs and legitimately being like "look at these squirrel tits and how hot this squirrel is" which this game seemed to go waaaaaaay too deep into

no, this was started after the remake came out

you should probably watch the video instead of asking questions that it covers dude

Sorry. Just watched it. I was busy so I couldn't watch it until now, and I was just making assumptions before I watched it. Simple as that.

Im sorry to say that nothing of value was lost.

The concept art was at least done by 2 artists there, becuase you can see some of it that has pretty terrible linework and coloring (like 13 year old deviantart style), while the other, even with the mediocre character design, was better done.

Wouldnt have mind this type of spin off, if sequels to CBFD existed, but without anything this leaves more of a sore taste on my mouth than anything.

Just watched, you are right. Absolutely horrible.

Contrary to popular opinion, I really think the best character design theyve done is squared banjo and kazooie. I think they are well designed and have a lot of charm. That with Conkers 3d model in N64 are the bests.

Nope. Rare has made more after they saw the popularity of the Making Of and Previously Unseen videos so they're making more and putting them on the Rare Youtube channel.

It's kind of depressing that the most meaningful work Rare has done in the last....ten years is sharing information and concepts about games they wanted to make that got canned.

Edit: made that more like seven years, my math is whack.

Not the most unreasonable thing to pitch. Conker already went through two historical "periods" in Bad Fur Day. The character designs are sort of in line with what I'd expect.
