So how did this game review back home?

Best I could find is that famitsu gave it a 29/40 which is apparently what they gave the first game

So just read the op and im somewhat interested in the premise, but seems I need to buy and play the 2 games before this.
Can somone sell me on the whole series to see if its my cup of tea and good enough to buy the 3 games?

The short version is that you and your friends are trapped in a haunted school that exists in another dimension. The first game is sprite based while the second is more like a visual novel so they use sound and voice acting (both of which are amazing) to get it's scares across. The wrong endings are some of the most fucked up things you'll ever experience

You die, your friends die, death is all you see.. Killings are committed in horrible ways.. Despair around every corner do not trust no one. Loneliness and desperation make people commit sick things.. Oh happy endings? No such thing exists.

I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first either. Not into torture porn or endless graphic suffering, and whilst the games do have a decent amount of this,at its heart is a fascinating, suspenseful thriller that engages you far more than you'd think a SNES looking game and visual novel could.

Oh and its sad. Like. Always.

This game is super fucked up. Much better than BoS, not quite as good as the original, but very very cool.

It goes to some weird, crazy places.

Enjoy this, folks.

For people asking what the series is like, I seriously think the best summary (assuming you're at all familiar with this) is: think Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

If you like Higurashi, you'll like Corpse Party, and vice versa. The two series obviously aren't exactly the same by any means, but they're very similar in general atmosphere, level of gore, level of mystery and overall progression, and are both very much designed to appeal to the same basic crowd.

Hell, both series even have weird comedy spinoffs!

Tense and spooky despite the sprite-based graphics. Also incredibly fucked up. People will die in horrible ways including young children, and the voice acting sells it pretty damn well. In fact, I'd argue content wise, this is THE most fucked up readily-available (as in rated by the ESRB and on something other than PC) series out there.

Why you gotta taunt me like that? I still haven't gotten around to checking out Higurashi, but really need to.

Eh, Higurashi is about 31892427238902 times worse...

Excuse you?! Higurashi is one of my favorite series of all time. It's a brilliantly crafted mystery with an unbeatable atmosphere. Absolutely outstanding -- though admittedly, I'm basing this off of the anime, as I've never read the visual novel. Most people say the visual novel is better, but maybe the "abridged" version I saw would be more to your liking...

Well the second season got it's own exclusive arc because the first season kinda cut enough foreshadowing to make the solution come out of nowhere.

All of this loading to get in and out of menus is really going to get annoying isn't it?
I called out the load time issue in the release date announcement thread last week.
They ARE pervasive throughout.

That said, they're not atypical for the Vita and, if my memory isn't failing me, they were actually far worse right after Blood Drive's launch in Japan than they are now. So this is post-optimization.

I still have access to pre-patch footage so I may do a direct comparison at some point to get a sense of how the load times compare between then and now.

You of all people should know the VN is always better. Nothing in the anime could ever top Ryukishi07's expressions.

Thanks guys for the info.
Dont think its for me though.

It is a fantastic, phenomenal even, Anime, without question! I mean in terms of squeamish-ness.

It most assuredly does spoil Book of Shadows so that's definitely something that needs to be on your agenda.
Of course, Blood Drive spoils Book of Shadows even quicker than the OP does.

Here's the territory that Book of Shadows covers. Chapter 8 is indeed the essential bread and butter but there are some post-Corpse Party elements in the preamble to Chapter 1's alternate take as well and everything else provides depth. Haruyuki's motivations will have far less impact if you haven't played through Naho's back story from Chapter 4, for instance.

Thanks for the info.

I bought this for my partner but we plan on playing through it together (Glad we have the EU date finally as well). We're getting the heavenly host stuff since we pre-ordered the ever after edition before the deadline (aka free upgrade :D )

We still need to play the first two though. Started the first one and stopped not long after. It was good but confusing, I had trouble finding my way about and got lost easily :(.

So I finally got around to playing it a bit today (just finished Chapter 00), and although I love Corpse Party to death, I have had a couple issues here and there. I'll just put these out there:

Playing on PSTV, downloaded from PSN on 32GB card.

- Load times everywhere (seems to be an issue with everybody).

- Opening animation video froze 3 times (not completely, but for about 5 seconds each time, as if the video was buffering).

- Dialogue recordings seem to be of varying quality. Some characters sound crisp, while others seem to be muffled or scratchy (even within the same conversation, so it's not an atmospheric thing).

- After beating Chapter 00, I went to the Bonus menu to look at the photo gallery and the game crashed on me (error message and booted from the game).

- "Fucktard". No thank you.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying the game itself, and I have a suspicion that some of these issues (freezing/crashing) are due to being on the PSTV. Anyways, now on to playing Chapter 01!

If we're talking about performance (which is slightly worse on PSTV in general) it might be, but freezing/crashing? That seems weird.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
No reviews dropping in yet?

Not sure why. There always seems to be weird stuff going on with the PSTV. There was also a "broken image" graphic when in the download queue, as if the game wasn't supported. At least my issues were only during the opening animation and on the Title (Bonus) menu, so it's not like it affected my actual gameplay or wrecked my save or anything.

Anyone know if the tags for the two disc soundtrack are gonna be up on iTunes or something eventually? I'd rather not have to individually tag all 76 tracks manually.

This happened to me on a plain ol' Vita 1000 as well, so its not PSTV exclusive. Haven't had any issues besides that in any case.

Good to know it's not just me. It just happened again. Got my first tag from one of the bodies, and when I went to check the details in the menu the game crashed. Yay...

I'm stuck in chapter 3.

I just escaped from the flooded bathroom and I have no idea where to go. I think I need to unlock room 5-A, but I can't find the key.

I even found a video of chapter 3, but the dude cut the part between where I was stuck and where I have to go. Any ideas?

Edit: Found it. An item randomly appears in a searchable cabinet where there wasn't an item before.

Solution:
Check the custodian's cabinet again.

Garbage. Reminds me that cheating with a guide makes these games way less annoying.

Asking this again while I'm only on chapter 2 but, is it ok to stream this game fully? or are there restrictions?

EDIT: Nvmd found out by hitting select lol
