Corpse Party Book of Shadows Coming next Week

Man, I probably would've loaded this up on my Vita, but if it reads the original game's save file then I will probably stick it on the PSP. I guess at least I'll make good use of my soon-to-be-useless memory stick.

Any good recap of the first game up anywhere? I need a refresher.
Why not just transfer your save file over to your Vita?

It's not a story recap per se, but the character section over on the official CP: BoS website jogged my memory pretty well.

Wait it inherits save files from tbe first game? Good thing I didn't buy the US version when on sale for $9.99 then. Want as much stuff on my main UK account as possible. Already regret getting WotL, Dissidia and 3rd Birthday on my US account

From the Book of Shadows website:

And the final chapter, available only to those who have either played through the first Corpse Party or seen every wrong end in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, details events from approximately two weeks after the first game's conclusion, delving deeper into the mystery as two characters frantically search for answers in a location even more cursed and uninviting than Heavenly Host Elementary itself…

Not sure if CP data is used for anything else though.

I'd regret getting Dissidia on a NA PSN account too, since Europe got the Squall KH costume and we didn't. *shakes fist*

On the plus side, it seems like the wrong endings are easier to get in BoS. If you like the game, then unlocking that Truest-True Ending is probably something you'd get while just playing normally.

The only things save files for the original do are:
- Lets you access the final chapter easier (getting all bad ends isn't especially hard either though, and is worth doing anyway)
- Adds CGs from the original game to Book of Shadows' CG gallery.

Not a huge deal either way (I had to unlock the final chapter the slightly harder way because the japanese UMD and PSN versions aren't save compatible and BoS only went on PSN yesterday).

Damn, I hope the EU release is soon after.

Do XSEED respond to tweets?
They do, Jess who runs their twitter account is really nice. I assume they'll announce the EU release date when they have a confirmed one though, and until then probably keep it quiet just in case they can't meet it. If the original is anything to go by it'll probably be a few weeks after, but who knows.

We respond to tweets, and also post here sometimes. ;)

EU release will be soon after the NA release, don't worry. We don't know HOW soon, but we managed two weeks for the first game, so hopefully we can work that magic again and do something similar this time around. It's already been rated by PEGI (16 again!) and approved by Sony, so the hard part is over.

Oh, and a save-game file from the first Corpse Party also unlocks additional CG images in the game's art gallery -- though I'm pretty sure ANY save from the first game is sufficient, regardless of how far you got. Not 100% on that, but I do know it's not super-picky, at least. If you beat chapter 5 with any ending at all, you should definitely be fine.

Yay! Thanks for the hasty response.

Will ours be as wisely priced as the US one? I'd assume so, because you guys are generally pretty sensible with these things...

Ah good to know. I'll get both eventually!

As for getting things wrongly on my US account, I managed to get a few $50 codes cheap of eBay, so I had like $100+ sitting there compelling me to spend it. In hindsight, I really should have saved it for the primary reason for having a US account. Exclusive content not on the EU store. So many PSP games...

Good to know. I guess I have to wait for the European version then.

Yesssssssssss.

Someone (likely Varion--edit: checked and it was totally Varion) told me that the binaural audio use in this game is much better than the first so I'm excited!

I lost my corpse party save... I might replay it this week... it might be easier to do that than try and get every bad end... tough decision.

Bad endings were easy enough to get in the first game, but with a visual novel format where you can skip text I bet they're a trillion times easier in the sequel.

I'd say do the latter!

I've finished browsing the site.

Rumors seem to be true, the first game will be like Just Dance 3 compared to this. Brr.

The twitter is run on a madwoman's whim. Always. And usually when I'm hungry, hence all the bacon tweets.

If I had to worry about this,

I'd be slacking too.

Nice, definitely going to pick BoS up at some point. Probably in February.

Hope there is some place where I can get a refresher on the story. It has been long enough since I beat it that I don't necessarily remember all the details from Corpse Party.

OT will be up in a few hours. O: Need to finish off some stuff on it.

If anyone can come up with a good subtitle for the OT that'd be cool. O:

Btw. does anyone know how big the role of Yuka is this time? I hate her and she nearly single-handedly destroyed the first Corpse Party for me.

I stopped playing the first one after that part where you have to avoid getting caught by some monster in some tiny room, because I died like 4 times and had to skip through a mountain of dialogue to get back to where I was. Fucking hated that.

Does this game have anything like that? Because I really liked everything about the original, aside from the dreadful gameplay.

Yeah, same here. There were a number of stupid parts like that, with reeeeally bad game design overall. That along with the annoying anime stereotype characters made me quit the game as well. And yeah, those ending sequences were so frustrating, holy crap. I wanted to toss my PSP across the room after a few tries.
But after not playing it for several months, I decided to give it another shot this holiday break and actually got through the whole thing.
The trial and error parts definitely become less annoying and not as frequent after the 2-3 chase scenes in the beginning chapters. Thought the game was interesting in all its rpg maker jankiness... or rather, the story, the actual 'game' was the worst part. :p

chapter 3 was too scary for me i almost stopped, sweet jesus at the death scenes

oh and:
"yahooooooooooooooooooooo, i gottcha!" engrish

So I got the 'true' ending as well as the 'canon' ending used in BoS, but if I want the other bad ends, is it worth it? I've heard some of them are just plain wrong.

I still need a few of the other endings too.

The grimmest one is with Yuka(?) and the scissors girl. Too mean. :(
