CrackDownGrade 3 Confirmed | 201`5 vs 2019

Stating this when the consoles have just celebrated their 5th anniversary is a bit meaningless, no?

As for the game itself, it was always an Azure posterboy. I understood why they wanted it in, but in doing so created an extra dependency. What if the Azure servers are shut down? What consequences will that have for the game? Will you still be able to play it with reduced local physics or does the game nope you out, essentially leaving you with a disc?

I am sure this question has been answered but perhaps someone can fill me in on that.
Not sure they plan on shutting down the servers. But if they ever do, I'm certain the destruction would be useless, as local hardware can't run this type of destruction on its own.

A lot of these physics are basically just 3D meshes subject to physical interactions. In that sense, they aren't much different from AI NPC's in big numbers.

There is The Black Masses doing thousands of these AI players and Serious Sam 4 also is set to include thousands of AI NPC's that all have to subject to physics.

So i reckon you can do stuff like this in a more limited fashion locally and when you apply a lot of instancing. But im not sure if Crackdown employs that kind of stuff.

From the early reviews I know of I expect the game to be around the 81-84 range on MC. Of course that's only for about 6 reviews so since there will likely be 35 or more it could easily be better or worse than that.

One thing that hit Sea of Theives hard was the review copies having a lack of content and then the full release only releasing a bit more content than the review copies, leading reviewers holding until after launch to score lower points on average.

The review copies for CD3 fro. What I'm aware are much better in this regard. So really it's how they handle the full launch 2 days from now that may help tip the scales one way or another.

Looks like just another overhyped MS exclusive to add to the list...I was skeptical when they were touting "cloud physics!"

The Cloud destruction is real tho! What are you talking about? Smoke-n-Mirrors?

Can you show me the Smoke-n-Mirrors" in the above?

And please, spare me the RF and BF comparisons. We both know Red Faction or BF doesnt compare - not even in the same league.

Every game with downgrades gets called out. This downgrade is just ridiculous. Everytime I see you post gifs the destruction reminds me of hollow paper walls falling down. It's OK if you see different but we were expecting something close to what Microsoft has been touting.
Cut the crap.
The destruction is nowhere near what they were claiming and showing before.

That's why I said MS keeps underdelivering.
Also, smoke n mirrors wasn't exclusively about Crackdown.

If you're excited to play Crackdown and if you're impressed by the cloud-powered destruction, power to ya.

I'm just saying it's funny to see people. being let down over and over and trying to defend MS to no end.

He keeps posting those gifs as if it's changing ppls mind. I'm holding myself back but everytime I see the destruction it looks like hollow, paper walls are falling and thts not impressive to me.

Yeah, I dunno if you can do the cloud destruction stuff if the servers were to ever go down. In fact, there's an early demo from 2015 where they show how local and server hardware handles the amount of destruction in Crackdown, and the local hardware was waaaay in over its head.

The reason being...? It was kinda the selling point of the game wasn't it?
Reason was because the amount of destruction (from the earlier demos) spread all over the map was essentially a barricade - too much debris and rubble to make any kind of play very frustrating. So they scaled back to get rid of that problem by pulling back on the destruction so agents could still get around the map relatively easy. Makes sense to me. Looks great! And some of the stuff Ive seen during the test was literally jaw-dropping. In fact, you get at least one of those moments in every game.

Are the visuals down from the orginal tech demo. Absolutely!!!!

At first i was thrown off by rubble and debris disappearing BUT all that rubble laying around would enormously hinder the game and ruin it. Played the tech demo and was blown away by it myself.

Absolutely no way could this game have destructive environment in single player.

You don't happen to have a video of that demo huh.

Come to think of it, wouldn't this game be an ideal poster child for XCloud? The hardware is even based on XBO, so..

They did. But op is too stupid to understand.
Tech demos = real games. Why does nobody understand this. jk.

the problem is that is no where near what was presented and other games do similar or better things(like dust) while not looking like a tron movie

It's crazy how Second Son still visually blows most present day games out the water. It's a gorgeous game. Thanks for the video too I forgot all about its destruction.

They did. But op is too stupid to understand.

Dev literally says in first few seconds of the video this is the first look at Crackdown Multiplayer. Trailer literally says IN-GAME FOOTAGE. I'm sorry that a comparison of what was showin in 2015 compared to today has offended you so much to the point where you've felt the best resort is just to call someone stupid because it hurts ur fee fees. SAD! Many such cases

Does the same level of destruction exist in the multiplayer mode, as of today?
Definitely not but that's basically a different game.

I've been playing the campaign and it's gorgeous but the Wrecking thing is something else entirely. It's a separate app developed by a different studio with its own unique appearance, controls and design. The confusion here is that the physics demo thing was called Crackdown 3 when it shouldn't have been. Huge PR blunder there.

Microsoft way overpromised with this one.
The one thing they have going for them now is that few people care about the game enough to be outraged.
If this were a high profile release it would be a WatchDogs level pr disaster.

It's not downgraded, that was never the game.

They already discussed this in detail, this was a proof of concept not really attached to anything, this was the peak of what could be done. They had to build an actual game out of this though, they had to leverage the amount of acceptable compute usage for the game to allocate from the cloud, they had to look at the scope of the world, what was in it and what kind of gametype could be formed from it. I mean as cool as this looks a bunch of obstructive rubble everywhere doesn't make for a fun game, it makes for a bunch of shit you're going to get stuck on, in and frustrated with.

this.

everyone who expected this to be the game doesn't really understand how to design games.
there even were people who thought this would be in the Singleplayer campaign! how stupid is that?
imagine an open world game where everything would be destructible xD jesus christ... there wouldn't be a game left to play in the end whenyou destroyed literally the whole game

They literally said you can expect it in the final game. Telling people they shouldn't have expected this is just damage controlling right now.

So IGN gave it a 5...

Not surprised.

Following on from a post I made earlier in this thread, why do Microsoft just suck. When it comes to first party titles there is absolutely no contest between Sony and Microsoft, the meta critic scores prove it time after time.

I can't even tell at this point if Microsoft truly care about big budget AAA exclusives or not.

IGN, the same site caught plagiarizing reviews and recently couldn't figure out how to play scenario B in Resident Evil 2. They surely know what they are talking about.

Know whats awesome... having played this game and reading negative comments lol

Whoa you and Gavon west have been avoiding the review thread like a plague. Hate to tell you but "we told you so". Mediocre game and cloud was hot air which shouldn't surprise anyone as Microsoft has a history of that.

Just because something happens because of a few certain people does not mean everyone else does it on the site. Grow up.

GOODLUCK with this.

You know ppl talk so much about fanboyism and Sonygaf, etc but when ppl were genuinely critizing the downgrade and rightfully so you had of course the same defendants making the snarky responses and being the defense force for CD3 and tht to me is fanboyism. When Street Fighter V came out I remember myself and many Sony fans calling out Capcom although it was an exclusive on lack of content. When does the bs stop? You can like a company but damn how could the tremendous downgrade be defended? No one defended Aliens. Street Fighter V got criticized by all angles as well.

The reckoning has begun lol The green warrior has arrived. Deliverance is upon us haha

But hey I was literally going to get game pass for the first time for CD3 but now it doesn't seem worth it. Hope you enjoy it though.

Right bcus I'm not in the office now laughing at you little man lol :) Remember they are just corporations and inanimate objects, they do not care about us hahaha They are not worthy of your loyalty.
I hold know loyalty to any of the consoles I own. my PS4 also didn't hug me last night playing spider-man either. anyway jr enjoy your battles xoxo

when game takes so long time its normal that is got old to these days standards. and even back then i saw it as meh looking game.

I think a lot of criticism is either due to
  • Tech demo troubles
  • Lengthy development time
  • Treating Wrecking Zone as the entire game
I trust John Linneman on this part when he says that campaign is fine. And, its console performance is above average

Grow up. Both of you.

So you'll trust the one review that praises the campaigns (mostly visuals) and ignore the majority of reviewers who bashed the campaign (Even Windows Centrals Jezs) - - - and try to put the blame entirely on multiplayer....all because this helps your cognitive dissonance?

I think the word you are looking for is confirmation bias.

Where do i say that i ignore the majority of reviewers? Where do i say that i put the blame entirely on MP?

What i say is that i think a lot of the critcism is due to these points. That does not mean that there aren't other points or that these should be disregarded whatsoever.

Seriously the viciousness is on another level. Don't make a reasonable post or you get downgraded by the OP itself! (Im kidding here.)

all because this helps your cognitive dissonance?
Yeah that must be why, with me posting a DF thread and praising its performance. Tsk tsk..

I think the word you are looking for is confirmation bias.
More like people who lack reading comprehension and jump to conclusions like there's no tomorrow.

Frankly, the game is no where near broken. No performance issue (knock on wood) it has a gorgeous art style that's unique - like only a Crackdown game could - and it's fun! This is what Crackdown should be. I can understand not feeling the game but, to judge it harshly because it doesnt check the bullet points of other games of this ilk is baffling. And that's precisely what it looks like the reviewers did here.

Ah, well.. I dig it!

I always say my go to site is Easy Allies and I don't trust most of the other sites and ouch

He specifically states "the visuals are surprisingly poor on the Xbox one" and tht "it's surprisingly subpar and boring"

Damn I really wanted to play this and go crazy with the destruction.

Then go and play it on gamepass and decide for yourself, you do have a mind of your own right? You may hate it or you may decide it's a lot of fun, regardless of the poor reviews. But you won't know unless you try. Gamepass is dirt cheap, so money can't be the reason why.

I can never understand how anyone can allow a review to completely void any interest they have in something. Especially when you go to single out the worst review you can find. The single player is pretty fun so far and you can try it for 10 bucks along with a ton of other games on Game Pass, but hey Microsoft sucks because IGN said so!

My comment history says as much. I plan to do so.
