Crash Launch in UK bigger than Horizon

It's shaping up to be one of my favorite generations even after the slow start.

It's not even because of the fan request, it's because Crash was, and still is, a name everyone knows. Combine that with a remake of all 3 of his games on a platform brand that he's synonymous with (a lot of people with PSs have probably been loyal to the brand since PS1), and there's your recipe for success.
Like, you could get thousands of fans requesting a remake of something that was good but not hugely succesful, let's say Tenchu for example. Even though people want it, it's not going to pull insane numbers like Crash has.

It's a fucking platformer selling blockbuster numbers in 2017.
We could see Banjo 3 greenlit because of this. Spyro remakes are a sure thing. I couldn't be happier right now.

Banjo is on the wrong platform. Sony game selling on Sony system will not translate to Banjo I feel.

I think this is a unique case. If we start seeing an influx of platform mascot type games like Banjo, Gex, Conker, Croc, Blinx etc. releasing, hopefully they won't be expecting them to do this well.
It's sold because it's Crash Bandicoot, not because it's a platformer.
I think the message here is that, as long as the game is great, any game can sell well and find success, as it is the case with Crash AND Horizon

I'm definitely eating crow on this one. I knew it would do alright but I wasn't expecting this level of demand for it. Sends a good message to both Activision and Sony that family friendly games are a worthwhile pursuit. It's a category that's dying out on consoles and are important to keep coming so that the audience can continue.
Outselling every mainline Mario games like Galaxy, NSMB, probably still has bigger shock value

Opinions, many disagree...I think it was underrated...felt like a 90+ metacritic game. It sold amazing anyway so don't be too happy. Crash doing well doesn't take away from Horizon overall success. Also this is just UK..I doubt WW Crash well sell as well..we will see. Sorry to disappoint.

No doubt but it's still crazy to see it launching bigger than brand new entries in big series like Zelda, Mario Kart, Mass Effect, Resident Evil, Injustice etc.

Yes it did, and it's also one of the best selling games of the year so far. It just that Crash is doing even better than that.
Mario was never good.

The others i can understand and show how impressive the number is .
I hate horizon because it's a copy of so many other games. It just felt like a worse far cry/tomb raider clone to me. Don't see how not liking something makes me close minded. I gave the game a shot and beat it.

Mario games aren't the fastest sellers and the UK is Nintendo's worst market (relatively speaking) by far.

I just thought of something that wasn't in the OP but N.Sane Trilogy was a Friday release as well, so it managed the 2nd highest opening week of the year with a potential handicap in some comparisons.

Thing is Horizon didn't bomb. It launched HUGE for a new exclusive IP. That's why it's included

Crash has strong AF branding and also showed up in
after that E3 where they punked everyone with that awful skylanders Crash Bandicoot - this is great news. Maybe Activision will get a proper next gen sequel made.

You can say that about every game this gen...nothing this gen matches fighting large mechanical dinos with a fire inflicted bow...What other game is like it combat wise? The Witcher zelda are similar to Far Cry/Tomb raider as well, they share a similar genre characteristics
Hprizon is nothing like far cry, they don't play alike nor even share the same camera.
name one game that doesn;t share something with other games this gen.....by your definition this gen sucks. Horizon shares similarities to games as does every other game, but it is unique in its combat and setting.....it's story was also ace, but yeah hate a game anyway I guess.

It's more that you were in such a rush to give us your little spiel about how much you hate Horizon that you didn't put enough thought into realising that Crash selling better doesn't diminish that Horizon's sales have been excellent.

Oh man, CTR with online MP.... I will break down and give PS+ my attention. Well unless Activision bring it to PC, but maybe Sony will secure it, I think I read they may have some rights with CTR1 at least.

This pack here looks like Nostalgia overload. And they say Sony doesn't have nostalgia, Nintendo doesn't have a monopoly on that, or characters. Playstation All-Stars was just poorly handled and supported.

If Activision did a full scale Remake of the in game assets, added a few brand new tracks, online multiplayer, and a few new character to CTR they could absolutely launch it at $40 without a ton of work or investment, and it would sell great. Would also be a good move for Sony as they don't have a strong Kart Racer

I loved Crash games back in the day. I'm not surprised that there's a huge demand for the remasters. To repeat a common request though, what I'd really love are Spyro remasters.

You state this as if Crash is somehow a threat to a completely unrelated new IP. Crash isn't going to stop Horizon sequels. C'mon, man.

I wonder how this will do in the rest of the world. Something like 2 or 3 mil lifetime would be a great number as this is likely way cheaper to make than Horizon.
