Crazy Ex Girlfriend Season 2 |OT| She's So Broken Inside

Didn't like the status quo whiplash in the last couple of episodes. Finally felt like the show was tackling the roots of her problems and then it just ended and now she's being thrown back into a boy-crazy love triangle.

Got caught up on episodes 8 and 9 just now. Bit of a scattershot of thoughts incoming:

Anna: gone too soon, didn't expect her to just be gone after a few episodes.
Nathaniel: bit of a late addition to the season, but the show was missing a villain with Valencia joining the girl group.

Had a sensible chuckle at the Soju joke in episode 8.

Had this thought as episode 9 went on that Rebecca ends up having this weird crush on Nathaniel, but it looks like they're not ready to pop the love bubble just yet. Not completely at least.

The Uptown Funk parody was well done. Ending killed me.

Seems like after the calm of the season (Paula/Rebecca fight aside), shit got real. Paula's husband cheating on her and kicking him out, Nathaniel taking over and bumping Darryl down, and who knows where this Josh/Rebecca romance ends up especially with Valencia still not (presumably) knowing what's going on.

And Valencia is oddly absent in the two episodes.

Anyway, solid return.

Do you think Paula and her husband have a chance of mending things? Paula is clearly hurting a lot with what Scott did...but I can't help but think about how VERY close Paula was to almost doing the same thing in Season 1 (at the very least she temporarily checked out emotionally).

It's a stretch, but considering where the show has gone before in calling back to prior actions and their future ramifications, I could see this thread getting pulled again later.

As for this episode, it was excellent. It was interesting how shook Rebecca wound up after she saw how Josh was unable to validate her feelings of unhappiness in her old stomping grounds. Considering that finding happinesswas supposed to be half of why she moved to West Covina in the first place, and her failed breakthrough, I can only imagine what'll happen next time.

I would've watched live but just as I was about to, like usual, something had to happen to prevent me from being able to do so. -.-

It's been a while since I've done GIFs...

If I wasn't shit at doing the dialog part I might've extended this but I did it mainly for Rebecca's reaction to Josh and Naomi bonding. It's like her brain just broke.

It was great to see Audra again this time with her husband. #FinishedQuickRottenLay Then of course him and Josh had to bond too which made it all even better.
Heather soul train-ing out is the best thing.
Yes.

Love that she was like a voice of reason in Rebecca's head but Rebecca basically over powered her. That could've been some foreshadowing...

That
shrink
scene at the end... Good lord. One of the best scenes of the series.

Haha, yeah she's basically the part of the audience who doesn't have a Josh/Rebecca shipping (or shipping in general) hang up. Right when maybe Rebecca is going to have a break through...

Called Josh buying the Garfinkel ring last season but pretty different circumstances and for Valencia who has actually progressed and is over Josh, good for her.

This could be a good reaction GIF for other things too.

I want to do the whole thing but that'll take more work. I imagine someone on Tumblr has already done it though.

EDIT: Oh right and the return of Period Sex but done by Rebecca's mom killed me.

Of course the show Twitter did the Heather dancing too though they didn't do the whole thing. Glad I'm not the only one though, makes me feel slightly better.

Since I'm doing GIFs finally made a new version of the end of the new intro that isn't from the Vanity Fair article.

Fantastic episode. They confronted my issues about Josh and Rebecca getting together too fast head on, then completely subverted it with that last scene.

Just as you feel like everything is finally falling into place, it has to be destroyed before our very eyes. Slowly but surely, Rebecca will get there.

And I like that they are humanizing the new boss, and like the almost paternal relationship Darryl is building with him.

Just remember that we suffered.

Yeah haha. Though it looks like it could just be
dreams or whatever at this point. I don't think they will actually sleep together next episode.

PROVE ME WRONG, SHOW.
She took home a guy on her date with Greg last season

She is so not above banging the boss while engaged to Josh

I am trying to avoid spoilers here but just wanted to chime in and say thank you Gaf! We just started watching season 1 and this is such an amazing show!!!!!

I need to spread the word to my friends!

Another fantastic episode. Definitely dealt with a lot of issues that were brought up with the last two episodes

Heather soul-training out of there was A+, and Darryl's "Skittle me this." and Paula yelling "I brought the snickers!" Spartacus style were hilarious to me.

She was so close to a breakthrough ;_;

Gotta love George. "And I brought gummy vitamins!" *whole room groans*

Nah, they've already set up Darryl to be like a surrogate father figure so I don't think they'll twist it to make him Nate's daddy in that way.

I watched last Friday's episode recently.

FB and Josh's conversation was too real as an Asian dude.

"...what if an old person calls me Oriental?"

"Look, Josh, I'm a man of God and I try to believe the best out of everyone, but if you think you're going to make it a whole weekend with a bunch of 70-year-olds and not get called an Oriental, you're out of your ever-lovin' mind!"

This happens to me with seniors every so often.

That hit home on my end because my mother is one of those 70 year olds, no matter how many times I've tried to get my mother to "get it" she'll still use it, she ain't gonna get woke like Rebecca's mom. -.-

That pesky wind.

"Oh, Nathaniel."
"Oh, girl who works for me."

And yes, Daryl is the biggest fucking sweetheart 😭

Nathaniel is such a charmer.

That squealy voice Rachel does is somehow annoying and amusing at the same time. The weatherman through the episode and the 60s pop throwback was great, opening reminded me of "Leader of the Pack". Rebecca's downward spiral continues I LOL'd when the Santa Ana winds concluded with a call back to You Stupid Bitch.

Also...

My mind is in the gutter.

The S2 finale will end with Josh being cuckolded by Nathaniel, similar to how S1 ended with Greg being cuckolded by Josh. It's a vicious cycle on this show.

"You're bored in your relationship, but that's not my fault," sounds dubbed. Anyone else?

Ed Sheeran parody was gold.

George being sinister was gold.

Devil Winds song was gold.

Darryl's song was great.

Crazy that Valencia was made a series regular for season 2 and will appear in less than half of the season's episodes. And she was only in last week's episode for about 30 seconds, basically just to sign off on Rebecca fucking her ex-boyfriend. It's insane how little they've focused on her in the past few episodes considering the major plotpoints that should be a really big deal for her.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this episode but the pacing and focus of the season is all over the goddamn place.
