Oh how I wish Nintendo took notice of threads like this. They have no idea.

I'm sure we'll see some distressed environments in the actual game. Whether the art style will allow those environments to be more attractive than what we've seen so far is another question.
I wish these visuals were a first draft like the OoT tech demo:

But if this is a 2013 game, there is no time for that. The best they can do is sharpen the edges and toy with the color palette like that one gaffer suggested. Such a shame to mar a sequel to LttP with an art style that is, at best, uninspired.
That would be sexy. You and me both, man.
The only thing that could get me more hype would be Marvel Super Heroes 2: Avengers vs. Xmen fighting game by capcom.
I agree completely. I hate how nintendo is using its crappy new super mario bros artstyle in everything. I guarentee they do it just because it's cheaper.

I think it's less that it's cheaper and more that it's inoffensive to the larger audience they're pursuing with these games.
This is a discussion voard. People aren't going to not discuss stuff because it's a WIP...Look, I agree that people going "eh, not enough footage" and then providing no valid argument is just thread clutter, but you can't deny that it's not a good argument. If the OP is justified for giving his opinion on how he thinks it looks, it's also totally valid to say "hey, this is kind of ridiculous, we've only seen about 2 seconds of the game". If the game looks like shit when it comes out (entirely possible), then I'll say it looks like shit. I agree that the Nintendo Defense Force can get dense, inflexible, and unwilling to accept that Nintendo can do bad things. But you can't dismiss EITHER argument.

While they can't match the design or the gameplay, most Zenonia look pretty good and they are 2D.
Nintendo doesn't even know what the internet is.

People can complain when the game is actually out. I sincerely doubt this has been in development for very long. It's extremely likely that it was just a quick rush-job to get something out there for the public to see. As the OP so clearly shows, Nintendo knows how to make Zelda games look like lived-in worlds. Why do the first pre-alpha state shots of the game have people thinking they're suddenly going to abandon this practice, especially in a sequel to one of their most beloved games in the Zelda series, not to mention of all their catalogue?
Nintendo doesn't even know what the internet is.
This joke is getting old and tired.
Zelda/Nintendo fans. They are buying the same crap since GC era (it goes downhill from there).
Only MM and OoT was worth playing.
Not everybody feels that way though. Personally, I think the quality of Nintendo's games has slowly deteriorated over the years. The last three Zelda games were pretty lackluster compared to the rest of the series, and now they're making a sequel to what I think is the best Zelda game, and I don't think it looks that good. You can call complaining about the art (which can actually reflect on the quality of the project as a whole) "inane," but a lot of people think it's a pretty big deal.

He did also post in here, y'know.Cliffy's tweet is fucking classless. Taking pot shots from outside at Gaf members when he knows he's gonna get a cascade of agreement tweets from his slurpers.
Grow up, Cliffy
The art style is literally ALttP's with more detail...
The NSMB comparisons completely unjustified.
So, if everything since the GC era has gone down hill and OoT and MM are the only games worth playing, what has anyone been playing since 2006? At least the Wii owners could download OoT and MM as VC games. Sony and MS fans have apparently been staring at empty shelves the whole time.Zelda/Nintendo fans. They are buying the same crap since GC era (it goes downhill from there).

a link to the past is my favorite game of all time and i don't like the look of the sequel. something just looks off about it.
who knows maybe that's what it is. i really don't like link's 3d model though. It's not drenched in your own personal nostalgia?

Love the "your opinion isn't valid because of nostalgia" implication.
If I landed a job at Nintendo* and rebooted Zelda as a hard M title I'd love to see the threads.
*Not that I'm that talented
I love the silly reply that's generalizing my comment thing. I just don't see how cracks on a wall in a SNES title amounts to "lived in"?
The problem is that the game is too cheery. LttP was not a cheery game. The world was dark, grim, worn. This looks like a happy New Super Mario bros Palette, not the dark world of LttP Hyrule.
I like dark games, not cheesy happy ones.
