even ignoring the racist comment of his e3 video, if you take a more critical eye to many of his videos, most of them he reframes footage or edits it to make it look like it's much worse than it actually is, or otherwise misleads people. a lot of people started to realize this around his halo video--he went out of his way to make it seem like 343 was doing everything the exact opposite of what bungie did...but then ignored how bungie broke their own rules all the time by the end of it and then tried to go for the low bait of "look at how stupid these halo 5 weapon skins are!!!!" i mean, yeah, you can complain about a gun looking like pizza, but who gives a shit if that means free maps and new modes for the rest of the game's life? there are actual arguments to be had there, like the fact that the req packs mostly give out disposables or how warzone deters you from having fun by making you want to hoard rare drops. but no, let's just focus on PIZZA!!! as if that's relevant to game design.
you don't do your argument any favors at all by telling those who are offended "wear a helmet."
like actually, there is a legitimate discussion to be had here, and it's not on the basis of "oh this racist guy is making me sad!!!!", it's on the basis of "by addressing whether or not this phrase is racist, we can discuss the controversial idea of institutional racism that many find to be a core problem with our society, and through this discussion improve the way of life for many people."
but what always ends up happening are replies like yours that are apparently unable to see the bigger picture and focus on a small level "anybody who doesn't like this won't survive real life because they're too easily triggered." fuck improving society and making gaming in particular more welcoming, am i right? let's instead push away people trying to improve the hobby because muh video games.
This community's continued response to Crowbcat is absolutely hilarious.
To those still crying about his "racism" - wear a helmet. Life is so much harder than a three second sound-byte placed within a comedic context. His immediate white supremacist label demonstrates both the ridiculous sensitivity and irrationality upon which many of you exist. Seriously. Grow up and let it go. He's not any more racist than any of you claiming him to be.
As for the video, spot on. Cliffy B shot himself in the foot the moment he took such an aggressive stance against the "anime bullshit" of Overwatch. It'll need to go F2P in the near future if it looks to recoup most of the install base it already lost.
