Crysis 2 back on Steam! (Crysis 2 Maximum Edition)

By the way, does that mean that Crysis 3 will be on Steam on d1?
No, it means it'll probably be on Steam in 2014 or something unless EA relents and agrees to abide by Steam's DLC policies. (I don't know why they're hung up on this - Steam does a way better job of providing visibility to DLC during sales, plus it makes it really easy to lure impulse buys of said DLC considering how easy it is to buy them along with the game)

Is this the appropriate place to complain about:

My Origin version of Warhead AND my disk version won't allow me past CD-KEY validation. I enter my key and it goes right back to the same screen. It has never worked. I have opened 11 tickets with EA support and they have been unable to fix it. They ignore my additional notes and close the tickets a couple days after opening saying it's resolved. I've heard excuses ranging from "Reinstall it" (tried this 4 times), "The validation server is down" (for months) and "You're past your DRM limit." I've have been attempting to get it fixed over an 8 month span on multiple PC builds. They have also given me about 6 or 7 different CD-KEYs to try.

I have just given up.

Hang on a second here. Just hang on a second.

So, EA pulled Crysis 2 along with some other games from Steam because they couldnt sell DLC the way they wanted to. Namely, through their own site without Steam getting their 30% of the cut.

But if you already own Crysis 2 on Steam you can upgrade to the maximum edition with the DLC for half price? This is them selling their DLC through Steam and giving Valve 30%.

Could it be that perhaps Crysis 2's EA exclusivity is up and maybe Crytek is self-publishing?

Steam usually seems to be accurate in listing the real publisher. Alan Wake and AW:AN have Remedy listed as publisher. Kingdoms of Amalur has 38 Studios listed as publisher...ahem...

Still shows EA as the publisher. I don't see any way that any publisher would agree to that kind of deal anyway. It can't be that hard to publish a game on Steam, so it's basically lost easy money for the pub.

Ghost Hunters will likely take that over (they're from RI)

Yeah, I don't know then. It's weird.

forty bucks? what a valve ripoff. i think i paid 20 for crysis 2 like a year ago, and i've seen it on sale for less several times since.

good news... Crytek has now given you 50 activations for Crysis

gotta stop those pirates somehow!

PS: Crysis 2 is already in the top sellers list after only a few hours.

I wish we could find out the eventual sales numbers for Steam vs everything else in the PC realm. If it were to outsell Origin/Amazon/etc. that would be quite embarrassing for EA.

So they're "focused on Crysis 2" currently, but they are able to go back to Crysis 1 for retail and raise the activation limit. Classy Crytek.
Can't say I care more. Maybe for a winter 2011, but no longer.
First time I've seen this. Usually it's "I could care less" but now you couldn't care more? SMH.

Probably would have bought this during a Steam sale had it been on there last year. Sucks they don't have regular Crysis 2 on there because I don't really care about the multiplayer. Will wait for sub $20.
