Crysis 3 PC Performance Thread

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try when I get home. I'm running an HD 7950 and the error kept happening both stock and overclocked. My rig will be in a cooler home so I'll try upping the voltage. Also I've been using SMAA 2TX since that's been giving me the best quality/performance.
 
I think it was patched already or me, I notice I can't cloak and hack at the same time anymore.

EDIT: Nm, it's updating now. No idea on what it does yet. Patch notes are coming later.
 
You think we'll see pre-made custom configs pop up for this? I remember loving Cuban's Crysis Config for the first one.
 
The framerate's supposed to go to shit when I stare at those ropes? Cuz I'm getting a locked 30 when I do, and it only dips when I look across a long distance, but switching to SMAA fixes that.

If I heard correctly, the consoles run at settings lower than the low PC settings? Does anyone know a config file for those settings? I'd like to give my two-year-old laptop a fighting chance before it admits defeat.

I think it actually may be a MGPU poroblem. You have on 670 right?

The game actually does not contain any similar cvars as the consoles have. It is quite different.

The game only has the highest res textures packed with it. Putting the game on low turns off most of the PC specific effects.. but even then... some of them are built into the core of the PC renderer and the game will not run without them (instancing, culling, I think plant tesselation)
If anything... throw everything on low. 720p. and it should work well as long as your gpu is DX11

Even with all-low settings it certainly looks much better on PC compared to the PS360 versions.

Not sure what they're additionally dialing down in the console versions, or if you even can do that in the PC version. You could always try and run it at some obscenely low resolution (1280x720) or something.

Maldo do You know a difference between r_SSReflections settings between 1,2 and 3?

I hope that Crytek will approve Your exe modification :)

You have to wait for more unlocked cvars for that, because You can tweak e_GI to 0 [its on even on Low], but i dont think it will turn off GI at all.

Yes, maybe is confusing because water reflections don't have relation with ssreflections. Different values affects the way that ssr shader filter the pixels. Find a shiny metal surface and test, I like 3 more because is soft, others are too pixelated.

Ops, yesterday I detected a bug in the blablablah I've sent you. Some shadows have one quarter of the resolution, I've fixed it this morning.

So you have to give up the better more ccurate motionblur in order to get rid of the buggy DX11 Bokeh?

I've reduced motionblur shutter speed so artifacts because low precision are less visible and IQ is cleaner.

We are rolling out two new patches over the next few days, Patch 1.1 and Data Patch B.

Patch 1.1 will be a physical update requiring you to download it when prompted from Origin/XBL/PSN and contains numerous bug fixes and updates:

Fix for users getting stuck in the Pinger
Fix for Flashbang/Smoke grenade reactions not displaying in Kill Cam
Fix for crosshair becoming invisible after certain actions
Fixes for squads joining and disconnecting from servers

Data Patch B is a behind the scenes update and is automatically downloaded when entering Multiplayer. Patch B contains the following tweaks:

Melee whilst sliding damage reduced to match patch A's melee damage
Typhoon mid range damage reduction
Bow sensitivity reduced to match Assault Scope values on PS3/X360 as they have similar zoom values. PC remains as before
SCAR+Laser long distance effectiveness reduced.
Threat Awareness module levelling targets reduced to 3/10 enemy C4's destroyed
Potential fix for "Incoming!" Skill Assessment not levelling up correctly
Fix for Social Challenge skill assessments not being tracked correctly

Does anyone know how to make the weapon FOV at least semi-permanent? It seems to change back to the default value every time I cloak/uncloak.
 
I disabled my HUD because its too busy and detracts from the visuals but I'd like to still like to see objective markers and the energy bar maybe, though I can deal with just the suits audio cues. Wish I could pick and choose what the HUD shows, but if I can't ill just keep it disabled because I really don't like it.

If you need to see where the objective is, just pause the game and hit right on the d-pad to see a mini-map with markers on it. That's what I do, and on repeat plays it's easy to remember where to go.
 
I finished the game on a GTX 570 on high with limiting the frame rate to 30. It was stable for the most part and it still look great!

The game itself though, not so much. To much wham bham for my tastes.
 
Just turned on HT on i7 980x and can now play with most settings on very high (shading, shadows set to high). FXAA @ 1080p at pretty much 60fps, slight dips into high 50's when a lot is going on.
 
Man, just bought the game after having tons of fun in the beta and after around 30mins - 1 hour the game just crashes to desktop.

"Crysis 3 has stopped working". Googled around and tried loads of stuff to try fix it but nothing is working :(

Really pissed off.

i5 2500k
GTX 560ti
8gb ram
also running Windows 8.

I've tried almost everything, alot of people think it's something to do with a patch? I don't know if they've recently patched as I only bought it tonight but I haven't been able to play it.
 
I sure hope they fix the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED error that keeps me from playing the game more than 20 minutes at a time. I kept thinking my card was overheating, but right after getting this error I would run FURMARK for 15 minutes at 1080p no probem.

Is your card clocked? If so run at stock and try again.

Whether your card is stable under Furmark or not is irrelevant.
 
Yeah, the DX Device Removed error comes from an unstable OC. Scale back/up the voltage just a tad and it'll probably disappear, especially if it only happens after a period of load time.

You should. Hyperthreading basically creates additional core, for example for 1 core that operates at 3ghz, with hyperthreading You get realistically something like 2 cores that operate at 1.6ghz each.
So its high multithreading optimizations than hyperthreading specific optimization and it will give high benefits on all platforms.
