CyberPower's PC case looks kinda awesome

That's a waste of money. You can get a Cyberpower Fang BattleBox with and i7 and GTX 980 for around the same price. Plus, the Battlebox was made to be carried around. I like it and I actually own one of them.

Honestly I would take the 5820+970 combo over the 4790+980 combo, if those were the only options.

Though I am slightly curious if this is a better setup for heat dissipation.

from what I understood, that was the idea.
It just seems too limiting to me, on top of looking ridiculous.
What if I wanted to SLI in the future?
And like others have pointed out, moving it around looks like a pain.
I love my case, how it has plenty of room, easy to work with, and has handles when I want to move it around.
note, not my picture

I remember cringing up when I saw these "xtr33m l33t g4m3rz" cases with their LED lights, crazy appearances, and other "visually loud" appearances and shit in 2004. I hope that wanting cases like these are just a phase that young adults go through at one point before they realise that they look stupid and are impractical, otherwise PC gamers as a whole haven't made much progress in the last decade. :p

Meh, skylake is set to be only marginally faster than haswell
So you might as well get a 6 core haswell if you're going to throw a lot of money at a pc, one of the few times where you'll actually be able to future proof (as per core performance is never going up again in the coming 5+ years)

On topic: the airflow in the motherboard compartment looks horrific

It's a huge case with bad airflow , forces you to use a micro itx motherboard and has no spact for a second gpu or possibly larger pcbs

it's a stupid idea

This would be my main concern. Points for creativity, but when you are building a gaming rig you want max efficiency and power. Also, give it a rest on the CPU debates, you can have a overclocked sandy or Ivy bridge CPU and be just fine for gaming, it hardly matters. GPU is what matters now, so long as your CPU isn't 4+ years old and says i(insert number here) it'll be adequate.

I think this looks a lot better than most "unique" PC cases. At least it doesn't blink or is full of crappy plastic.

Personally, I still prefer keeping it simple though, this is my current case:

never buy from them if you expect technical support after they ship it to you. They are so bitter and unwilling to help. Plus their wiring is bad. Plus they sent me a case that was dented on top as if someone sat on it and kinked the top of my case.

I really really dislike CyberpowerPC and would never advise someone support them.

I just noticed that the configuration in the OP (5820k, 970) is exactly my current setup (as in base components, obviously I have a lot of other stuff in my PC).

I really like the design of the Area 51 by Alienware. There are apparently some thermal benefits to the wacky shape and tilted motherboard configurations. It's frackin' huge though, as seen in that pic with Angry Joe.

I want a PC that looks like a piece of alien technology, not a mini fridge. Yeah, it's kinda ostentatious, but so is the very idea of a gaming PC.

Don't like it at all, i still prefer standard full tower case, better air flow, cable management, and easier to assembling when i change something.

There's room for unique, if outlandish, cases. It' not like a new console design that's got to sell to 50 million people. It's not for me, but I'm happy something so uh... "Aggressive" can be supported by the pc gaming segment.

Waste of space, impractical and it's just a case. I have a $35 Coolermaster case with 4 fans, and 7 drive slots. I'm good.

Yeah, there's something for everyone here.
While I don't like how the two "wild" cases look, I can understand how they could appeal to some people and I appreciate that they exist.

Few things are as ugly as gaming PCs. Yikes.

Since we are posting cool cases, I thought I would link one of my favorites.

All metal design, extremely compact, water cooling compatible, and probably the most customisable case I have ever seen.

^ These are great, though. I personally like the tiny Alienware Alpha:

Im all over that alpha when the steamos version comes out. I tried to talk myself into just building and buying a steam controller, but you know... buy on emotion. Besides that, I really curious to see what the support experience is like for it as a console.

You don't counter garbage with less expensive garbage.

Yes, I do realize that the case is expensive and I can get most of the specs with a decent case and save about $600. I just like the portability of the case and how quiet it is. I didn't buy this exact model. I only spent $1200 and I bought mine awhile ago with I5 4690K and GTX770 4GB.

I do want to buy another rig when the new DX12 GPUs come out. I have a serious case of tech-lust.

You don't need to justify your purchases to strangers on the Internet. Don't worry about it.

Reminds me of the Mac Pro. I wonder if it has similar cooling benefits.

I currently have a Fractal Define R5, but I think my next case will be one of these:

A little ostentatious for my taste, but I think the cable management benefits of having the power supply in the back will be worth it.

That case fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down. On the bright side, it's also horrifically expensive. The combination of hideousness and high cost would fit in nicely in one of the Off Topic clothing threads where people wonder if they should drop $600 on a pair of sneakers that look like something that came from the bargain bin at Payless Shoes.
