Starting my second playthrough today. Probably going to speed through some of the early stuff but actually finish the Kerry and River storylines this time and try to see all the endings (only main things I didn't do in my first run; got what seems to be the 'best' ending)
Panam, Nomads, and Judy didn't dump me

Is there any of the more off the beaten path type side stuff that anyone here sees as unmissable? I finished in 43 hours so I obviously didn't do a lot of the more superfluous-seeming stuff.

Just done the secret ending. Pretty badass, but not my favorite ending so far. Most fun to play though, it was a blast.
What happens if you die, can you use an old save to redo the mission or does it wipe your saves too? And can you get it with 60% relation to Johnny? That's the only ending I haven't done so far. Oh, I don't expect to die, my character is very OP.

It doesn't wipe the save, you can start again before the rooftop scene if you saved there. They'll throw hordes of enemies at you, some pretty strong ones. But even on hard, it wasn't difficult for me (MKb on PC, Gunslinger build) and didn't die.
Don't know about the relationship with Johnny. I think it depends on the dialogues you had with him during the main story. You should be calling out his actions, but be forgiving in the end.

I guess you should just try it, and see if it triggers after 5 min of waiting.

Thanks, I'll try. Done with my 3rd playthrough now and the game keeps drawing me back. DLCs can't some soon enough.

Soon as it drops, going in with shotgun/gorilla arms/quickhacks build. That kind of seems the most fun playstyle around. Sandevistan/Berserk give you raw killing power, but it just hugely limits your options.

Done! After 135 hours. Hell of an ending and i think its the best for Streetkid V.

Rogue ending with Johnny choosing to go to digital heaven. Going after Arasaka tower round 2 was awesom and Rogue finally got her redemption and wounding Smasher. She might be my fav character when all is said and done.
Inheriting Afterlife was fucking baller and exactly what a legend of night city deserves. V apparent suicide while in space overlooking the stars was a fitting end too since she will be remembered all the way to 3077.

Finished Eurodyne questline: really fun, humor, great quests, breath of fresh air with how heavy/dark some others are in comparison. And that one with Blue Moon: smaller quest, but even that had several outcomes.

Fun moment: If you have a high enough Cool stat, you can take selfie with them ( it switches automatically to Photo mode):

Kudos points to devs for making a few ( well earned) jabs at anime/weeboo culture. :messenger_winking:
( Some are probably mad they couldn't romance any of the girls)

That about wraps it up, when it comes to all the gigs&side quests. Are there any/time-based that show up later?
I got the "point of no return" message near meeting with Hanako.

The hell i thought Kerry quest finished after the band played. Even got the gun from him. Haha i just went straight for Hanoko after Samurai gig, seems fitting.

I have been playing since launch, but as I don’t have much time to play it’s taken me a long time to progress. Just got the car repaired and did the side quest for Del.

Got a text from that military chick. Met her at the motel and got my reward. Game of the decade lmao

Apparently I missed that branch of the questline lol. All she did was get pissed off at me and drive away :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Went back to Mankind Divided ( left it unfinished before Cyberpunk, just before Alps section): it's pretty damn impressive what CDPR did with gunplay. Night and day difference how everything from sounds, visuals, animations, movement is much more smooth and satisfying. Though I am enjoying stealth and level design more.

Still chippin away at this. Finished Judy’s quest line last night (Pyramid Song).

Shitty Radiohead song. Great quest.

I really have nothing else to do but Rogues and Kerry’s side stuff and to wrap up the main. Hopefully I’ll be able to buy all the cars too. Only a few more left...

Yup. I tried again with the most recent patches and I was still encountering basic bugs and pretty poor performance even after buying a new processor (6700k to 5600x). There's a lot they need to fix and I have a huge backlog of other games to play, so I'm going to focus on those games instead.

Anyone else think they might pull the plug on upcoming DLC, expansions etc? Would it even sell?
The game sold like what, 13M?

1/15 of those people buying the DLC would be already worth it

They will make DLC/expansions in the future, I can garantee you.

They are probably already developing them, 100% sure. They just cant announce it because that would be bad PR right now.

Alright fellow gaffers, I've held off posting much in this thread since I didn't think I could add much to the discussion, but that has changed!

I'm about 30 hours into the game. I played the first 15 or so on what I would consider a mid tier PC that could play modern games at 1440p at respectable settings and framerates. Well, that is, other than this game. I came across a weird CPU bottleneck that would have my CPU constantly at 100% (which has never happened with any other game) and that would cause constant hitching and inconsistent framerates. About 50% of the time when zooming in the framerate would drop 10-30 frames instantly. It would even sometimes go from 60fps to 20 just walking into certain areas that didn't seem to be particularly taxing.

Despite the performance headaches I was still having a pretty good time with the game.

Last week, I got a new rig with a 3080 and a 5800x. Let's just say I've been having a better time with it. The game looks and runs beautifully. CDPR really does have some of the best artists in the industry - easily one of the nicest looking games I've ever played.

As a game, more often than not, it's great. The shooting and action in general feels pretty damn good for this kind of game. It's obviously not Doom Eternal or Destiny 2 when it comes to gunplay but the thing that CDPR nailed is having your shots feel good. When I blast some guy in the chest with a shotgun, it looks, sounds and feels satisfying every time. The high powered tech rifles feel awesome getting a headshot knocking a dude back and realizing you blew his head clean off. This was my biggest concern going into the game and overall the combat has exceeded my expectations.

Where the game (so far) has come up short, especially when compared to Witcher 3, is with side quests. The beauty of TW3's side quests is that even the most mundane looking side quest had some kind of twist. One of my favorites was fairly early in the game that involved a werewolf that ended with decisions that felt like you were actually making a difference. With a couple of exceptions here and there Cyberpunk (again, so far) doesn't quite attain that same magic.

There's been a few side quests like...

the one where Pepe the bartender has you follow his wife, who he thinks is cheating on him only to find she's going to some shady ripperdoc and she's ashamed of it which leads Pepe to believe his own kid isn't his when it actually is, her looks are so just incredibly different from what her actual genetics are

...that give me the same feeling of "fuck yeah!" that TW1-3 gave me on a consistent basis. That side quest doesn't have one second of combat, but is more satisfying than most games side quests that soley rely on combat. It's things like this that give me hope for story telling in games in the future.

The main story has been pretty engaging so far. I just finished the Johhny/Alt Cunningham flashback sequence and I like where things are going. Thus far, the main story has been pretty well executed.

Yeah, that was a good quest. The Side Jobs are the ones that have more work put into them. The Side Gigs are lower tier quests, and feel worse than some of the lowest tier quests in Witcher 3. But the side jobs here have a lot more effort put into them compared to Witcher 3. You come across more of these as you progress.

...joke post?

Battlefield V down-scoped its sales target, laughably still managed to under-perform, and it still received around a year and change of support before EA put it out of its misery. Hell, Anthem is still on life-support. Anthem. Cyberpunk had as many pre-orders as Battlefield V sold all copies total at launch, with the last count we've been given being 13 million sold copies. For context, that's around 220% of what the Witcher 3 put up which had been scoped for a huge amount of DLC long before it launched. Cyberpunk has been an absolutely massive hit - why on Earth would they pull the plug on anything?

Once you progress through the main story quest. All sorts of lenghty sidequests open up. Its different to witcher 3 in that regard where everything is there just level gated. Do a main quest chain ----> 2 or 3 long sidequests open up.

I dont think you are far enough in to properly evaluate the side quests...they are awesome. Report back after you do all the delamain ones and sinnerman, just to name a couple, and all the friend character quests liike Judy, panam, River and kerry.THe one you mention is boring and mid tier although I do agree that there are lots of even more boring ones. THe best ones split off the main story and you get in deep with various characters....this happens after the 30 hour mark depoending of course how quickly you blasted through the main story with your 30 hours. I am over 200 hours now and only have a few quests left ...but its the side quests where this game shines..the main ones are more movie like.

Also you can break sequence simply by searching the area without quests to guide you and find a lot of the cool areas early. Unlike Bethesda it wont break the quest whenyou finally get to the area in the story.

Great analysis and praise from Dan Lowe, a Sr Staff Tech Animator from Sony Santa Monica.

Click on the link to read all the tweets.

Awesome write-up.

The interactions in "cutscenes" is some next level shit for sure. It's just wild to me that you can have a conversation with a character while walking/looking around instead of being locked in a la Fallout, and the character is doing all sorts of stuff too [getting stuff from a desk, eating, walking around the room].

Did all the endings. Only one that kinda bugged me was the path of glory ending, which ends without real conclusion.

Other than that, did all the side quests - except one that is bugged and I can't hack a router to progress it. After over 100hrs, I don't have it in me to reload an older save and try it again.

I absolutely loved the game despite numerous crashes and the somewhat short main story. The characters, the world, the gameplay the visuals (PC), all top notch. Especially once the main story has progressed, a lot of really good side quests show up.

So many interesting and fucked up stories, I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately, the whole "you are dying, gotta find a solution fast!" urgency didn't do it for me and was at odds with the game design.

Shame that it was so bug ridden with bad performance on the ancient consoles. The game deserved better, the team did a great job in many areas.

Decided to wait for the big February patch after the thoroughly underwhelming January patch. Funny thing is, what ultimately made me stop wasn't the bugs, or the so-so performance on my 1660ti. It's that ridiculous, god-awful, make-me-scratch-my-eyes-out-ugly grainy Fing SSR. It seems to bother me more the deeper I got into the game. Petty reason to stop playing maybe, but I'm desperately hoping CDPR reworks their SSR denoiser. (And no turning it off just makes everything look flat).

Do you just play at a very leisurely pace, or does this game actually have 200 hours of content? I 'finished' my first runthrough in 43 hours albeit I didn't do the Kerry line and stopped halfway through the River line. I plan on getting these on my second playthrough which I have already started. I don't feel like I missed a ton a "good' content, but I guess I can't be certain.

For all the bullshit surrounding this game I still can't wait to play it on PS5 when that version drops(if I have a PS5 by then, lol).Love the look of the game,I'd play it just for that tbh.

I wouldnt say I play leisurely, but I do like doing things outside of quests and there were a few other factors:

1.) My character is a stealth hacker...especially early on (i love trying to do areas Im not supposed to be yet as an underpowered entity) you spend waaay more time on a quest if you go in silent with the goal not to be seen and to clean up all bodies etc etc. Often you have to reload and start again as you fail. If you go in guns a blazing it can take an order of magnitude less (i.e.ten times less).
2.) I love to search the map outside quests and find unique things on my own. I found the Roy Batty easter egg on my own just by checking doors for example and found a way to get on the monorail. Later, after I thought the monorail was blocked off by artifacts, I learned you could double jump or duck under the artifacts and I made it around the entire map just about. This took a whole evening or 4 hours by itself. I found the whole area the parade takes place in early right after coming off the monorail and it was amazing fun to clean it out...the grand prize was the legendary pancea crafting spec. Likely one of the best random loots in the game. That took another 4 hours as I searched every inch of the walkways and fell off the buildings trying to jump the levels to get around without knowing how to do it by going inside the buildings.
3.) I caused the worst traffic jam possible after following Judy at close range in her van to see where she would go after a quest (she goes on random not programmed loops which is the same for all vehicles.) The traffic jam involved 20 -30 cars eventually as the ones that line up in a row will move if you bash the car in front of them out of the wya or have it explode.
4.) Special gear. I learned of Skippy early but did not want to be spoiled of his location. I did spoil the general area on the map at least so I had a chance, but it took time to go on randon searches throught he area, up high down low etc.. I also wanted the full netrunner (legendary) set and searched a lot for the 3 other pieces besides the jacket which you get in a quest. I got general areas from you tube but each area is on 3 separate sides of the map. I finally found most of what I was looking for and most random loot in the game (although Im sure I stil have a couple left cool finds left). These arent asssociated with quests.... there is tonnes of random high quality loot in this game.
5.) I searched underwater for a few hours ...there were only a few cool finds related to that endeavour...but it ate a lot of time.
6.) I wanted to find the location of Dexter Deshauns body on my own...took a few hours.
7.) Found Kerry's house early, as well as that Araska hillside mansion, cleaned it out.
8.) tried for hours to hop on the AV's landing pad down by the water. I eventaully used a similar strategy to someone elseon yu tube and jsut watched him do each one. It was damn hard to get on though and he must have spent 10 hours to do all 4 AV's....10 hours likely. I spend at least 4 unsuccessfully.
9.) I searched all boats I found inthe game, there are two others in addition to the one in the late game quest where you get johnny's car. One of them is guarded heavily and I was low level so had to swim and thigs to stay undetected.
10.) Did a tonne of using the on board camera, trying different poses etc.

Im missing a few things that were cool, also reloaded saves a couple times, like at the begniing I missed too much I felt at arasaka tower but no one can say I didnt try to get my moneys worth out of the game....I havent even started past the point of no return yet and will likley reload to get all endings.

Judging by Neogaf signal to noise ratio, interest on this thing is dropping like a StuKa on a dive bomb...
Interesting comment to make 100 pages deep into the second OT in three months for a single player offline RPG. I'm sure this isn't a drive-by shit-post, and you're actually keeping a running tab of every release and its interest as gauged by post count here on NeoGAF.
