Daredevil Season 2 Trailer: When does right become wrong?

Fk yeah! So excited for this.

Looks great. Seems like we're going to get a good amount of The Punisher too. Hopefully if this seasons turns out as good as it looks that standalone Punisher show becomes a reality.

I don't even need to see this to say I'm in. The first season was fantastic. I was super skeptical because I haven't really liked any of the marvel movies (less said about the series the better), but after two or three episodes I was hooked.

I hope the whole season ends with a Wilson Fisk scene, where he is plotting stuff with Vanessa, which in turn will set up Bullseye for Season 3, and make Fisk transform into the Kingpin during Season 3.

Oh shit...

I need to rewatch the first season, when's this due to hit Netflix?

About 30 days. So, you got some time.

On topic, wow. I'm not loving Bernthal's voice for Frank, but man am I loving the way he brings the idea that Frank is a force of nature that can't be reasoned with. I love interpretations of the character like that, and seeing him go up against Daredevil looks super fun. Plus, loving the use of ambient light in that stairwell fight scene.

The trailer makes it look like they rewrote it so that Daredevil is less of a loser. It looks like he breaks free in the trailer and potentially gives Frank a beating.

I know Punisher is supposed to be no slouch in h2h combat but he's just a brawler right? How is he able to put Daredevil on the floor?

Okay someone recap for me (in spoiler text of course) - which living characters know Daredevil's identity by the end of season 1?

I remember loving this show, but don't remember many details...

I think just:

Foggy
Claire
Stick

Are it. Think the trailer makes it clear that Elektra knows who he is, but we'll see.
Karen's
spider-sense seemed to tingle at the end, so she'll probably figure it out for sure by the end of S2.

Thanks for the detective work, so it's 100% sure that there's a third suit design. Looks pretty good as well.

We're getting an on screen Punisher vs. DD that most likely won't suck, what a time to be alive. This can't come soon enough, so that we can all wash away the filth that was JJ s1

Looks great-I'm glad we were finally able to hear some of Frank's dialogue. "You're one bad day away from being me."

I kind of dislike Bernthal from seeing him in the Walking Dead(I hate everyone from the Walking Dead), but he seems alright here. I'm excited.

So I read a fair bit of Punisher and loved it.

Whats the Daredevil starter pack when it comes to comics?

Frank Miller's Man Without Fear => regular run (collected in 3 trades) => Born Again. Then move on to Bendis' fantastic run. Ed Brubaker picks up after Bendis. Still need to finish that, but I hear it's also consistently great. There's also Mark Waid's recent run which I still need to get to.

But to start off, you're good with anything Frank Miller wrote.

Man the best thing about this trailer is it doesn't seem like they are holding back on Punisher at all. He seems as intimidating and deadly as he should be.

No half measures.

I used to be a beat cop, a long time ago. I'd get called on domestic disputes all the time. Hundreds, probably, over the years. But there was this one guy, this one piece of shit that I will never forget. Gordie. He looked like Bo Svenson. You remember him? Walking Tall? You don't remember?

Anyway, big boy, 270, 280 but his wife or whatever she was, his lady was real small, like a bird. Wrists like little branches. Anyway, my partner and I'd get called out there every weekend and one of us would pull her aside and say: "Come on, tonight's the night we press charges." This wasn't one of those "deep down, he loves me" setups. We got a lot of those, but not this. This girl was scared. She wasn't gonna cross him, no way, no how. Nothing we could do but pass her to the EMT's, put him a car, drive him downtown, throw him in a drunk tank. He sleeps it off, next morning, out he goes. Back home. But one night my partner's out sick, and it's just me. The call comes in and it's the usual crap. Broke her nose in the shower kind of thing. So I cuff him, put him in the car and away we go. Only that night we're driving into town and this sideways asshole is in my back seat humming "Danny Boy."

And it just rubbed me wrong. So instead of left, I go right, out into nowhere. And I kneel him down and I put my revolver in his mouth and I told him, "This is it. This is how it ends." And he's crying, going to the bathroom all over himself. Swearing to God he's gonna leave her alone. Screaming, much as you can with a gun in your mouth. And I told him to be quiet. That I needed to think about what I was gonna do here. And, of course, he got quiet goes still and real quiet. Like a dog waiting for dinner scraps.

Then we just stood there for a while, me, acting like I'm thinking things over and Prince Charming kneeling in the dirt with shit in his pants. And after a few minutes, I took the gun out of his mouth and I say, "So help me, if you ever touch her again I will such and such and such, and blah, blah, blah."

Of course. Just trying to do the right thing. But two weeks later he killed her. Of course. Caved her head in with the base of a Waring blender. We got there, there was so much blood you could taste the metal. Moral of the story is I chose a half measure when I should have gone all the way. I'll never make that mistake again. No more half measures, Walter.

The Frank Miller stuff. Plenty of other good runs after that (Daredevil is the most consistent superhero comic in terms of quality).

Writers to look for:
Ann Nocenti
Karl Kesel
Brian Michael Bendis
Ed Brubaker
Mark Waid

You could throw a stick and hit a good Daredevil comic.

lets fucking GO

trailer part 2 focused on elektra I bet?

Love this trailer. I'm hoping and guessing Elektra has been hired by Kingpin from jail.

Cool. Gonna start with Miller's stuff. Thanks guys.

I loved it all, but the early late 70s/early 80s stuff may feel a little dated. The collection I have starts with Miller just acting as an artist, but once he's given full reign as writer it picks up a lot.

The 'Born Again' story arc is the pinaccle of Miller on DD.

Then he returned in the early 90s to 'The Man Without Fear', a retelling of his origin that I feel the first season borrowed a lot from.

After that I'd read the Bendis/Maleev stuff and if you want more context, the Kevin Smith run that precedes it. People are mixed on that, but I liked it enough.

I always forget about Kevin Smith's Daredevil, but his run wasn't bad. Super big deal at the time.

btw I officially hate no skull shirt. its like the simplest costume ever

and yes im sure he'll have the skull shirt at the end or something, why not just have it from the start? ugh

I think it works fine for the origin. Guy's family just got killed, branding probably isn't a big priority for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up wearing the skull on Daredevil at all.

I will now think of Daredevil S2 as Mike's origin story.

The guy is obsessed with Avenging his family, he's probably just operating out of some storage unit or some shit when is he gonna have time to screen print a T-shirt for himself

Really hope they improve over the 1st season. I thought season 1 started out good, but the villain never accomplished anything (literally every choice Fisk did was a fuck-up that helped him get captured) and they re-used soooo many lines of dialogue. From the trailer, it looks like they are still going with the whole confessional thing. That whole aspect was beaten to death throughout the first season, so they should really bring it up once atmost this time around - there are more intelligent ways to show that Daredevil feels guilty without him spelling it out for us by talking to some priest every couple of episodes.
