Good to hear it, though sucks DeKnight is stepping down. Hopefully this doesn't affect the fights in S2.

Clearly DeKnight just hates Marvel, there must be no other explanation!!

I mean, would you want to run a Marvel show, given the workload?

Yeah, actually. I'd showrun Punisher in a heartbeat if I could.

Because he has been promised the series he really wants: Punisher.

I can dream!

PLEASE

Everyone's wrong. DeKnight is going to create the Punisher show.

PLEASE

It'd be a huge step up for him if he was directing a film, but it would also be weird that he would sign on to showrun a show while being in second position to direct (and that Marvel would allow that?).

Maybe Marvel's giving him the gig? There's still a few Marvel flicks that don't have a director yet.

Hell yeah for season 2!

That's a step down. No sane professional would do that willingly.

I would.

Punisher could be a hit action show.

I suspect Goddard is moving to either Iron Fist or getting an early start on Defenders. Could be doing a Punisher though, since it's what he really wants.

If Marvel did put him on a movie though, what would it be? None of the upcoming ones really jump out as obvious.

Season 1 was fucking dope glad a second season is confirmed and it'll be out next year instead of waiting for all the other Marvel Netflix shows to air.

Nah, Iron Fist is going to someone else, it seems.

It seems DeKnight didn't think the show would get renewed so quickly and a 2nd season arriving so early. He might've expected it for 2017 and took on another project in the mean time. Sucks though. No one stops that Marvel Train!

I don't think DeKnight brought in the stunt guys, they've worked with Marvel before. The Daredevil stunt performer also did Cap in Winter Soldier.

Doubtful. That's the production time of almost every show and DeKnight has been writing on primetime American television for almost 15 years.

great news! just finished it 2-3 days ago, it was great
and i agree with most people saying the new suit isn't that good, something just feels off :P

I suppose you'd know better than I would, but this isn't primetime and the situation may have been complicated by S1 already being part of a gargantuan 60-episode deal.

I really don't get why DeKnight is stepping away after how excited he has been on Twitter but maybe he's just a good salesman.

Edit: I missed that tweet about him doing another thing

Douglas Petrie wrote episode 7 (Stick) and 12, co-wrote episode 11 with DeKnight. Marco Ramirez was attached to the series before DeKnight even joined the production - he wrote episode 3 and co-wrote episode 6 with Joe Pokaski. They're not replacing showrunners with unknowns who didn't work on the series before this.

I think he said in interviews that he didn't really know where a second season would fall in the already packed two years of MCU TV series with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Defenders series all in the work at the same time.

He might've seen those series as being seasons since a lot of the stories are going to start to connect together leading to The Defenders.

Who knows. It was just speculation on my part based on what I read.

Marvel's been very cagey on their plans for their Netflix series, but I doubt they were that cagey to anyone who had to be in the know. If you know this is a series that is going to do 4-5 seasons, you know that's going to be one season per year, roughly.

I would be very, very, very suspicious if he didn't know the nature/plan of this series as a show that was going to do one season per year. That would be plainly unfathomable, unless Marvel/Netflix themselves didn't even know that's what they were going to do. Which also seems very unfathomable.

Exactly. While it sucks DeKnight couldn't stay on, the show is in good hands.

If I ever have delusions of knowing what I'm talking about, I make sure to come into a TV thread when Ivysaur is talking.

I mean, the delusions will remain to some degree, but I appreciate the opportunity to learn a little more. Thanks for the insight.

I thought there was pretty heavy talk of him working on Spiderman? He was doing Sinister Six, I'm not sure if that still exists though.

Sweet! Athough I don't think it's as great as the majority here seem to think I did enjoy season one for sure.

Thanks, but I'm just a guy, trying to speak from my increasingly jaded perspective!

I think it was on IGN, he said that they had two series releasing each year with their whole backstory and inter-connections leading to Defenders. For season 2, he said it would be very difficult writing and producing a 13 hours series that also connects and doesn't contradict previous shows, current ones and those being worked on at the same time.

It's do-able, but I would also understand how incredibly hard it must be to achieve. Especially with the level of quality we got with season 1.

Again, yeah, I wouldn't want to touch that with a 10 foot pole. Keeping your head on with one show's mythology is already difficult enough.
