Yeah, but if he is doing Ragnarok that would be pretty sweet.

I bet what happened was Marvel went to him and said they were doing a second season. They told him he could stay on, but then offered him a movie as well if he wanted to do that. That makes the most sense because he's been talking about doing a second season for a while, so I can't imagine he jumped on another commitment when he really sounded like he expected a season 2 next year.

He didn't choose one over the other, he'd already committed to doing a film before S2 became a thing.

Yep, that suit was full on cringe mode the moment it showed up.

The outfit he had all season was pretty cool and grounded in actual reality.

I'm not sure it was a good move to hold the suit so long. I'm going to go into season two with memories of that cool black half mask, mostly.

Glad to see we're getting a 2nd season, but the credits for the 2 new showrunners is worrying to say the least.

Buffy? Sons of Anarchy? AMERICAN HORROR STORY? whatisthisidonteven.gif

...So, they came from quality popular shows?

Also, where do you think DeKnight came from, besides Spartacus?

DeKnight is a Buffy alumni, so I don't see the problem. Plus the two already were involved in Season 1.

The guy who did Daredevil season 1 did Angel and Dollhouse. I don't think you can turn your nose up at the guy who was the show runner for Buffy if you're thrilled with the guy who did a bunch of the other Whedon stuff.

It's not just that. S1 was all Fisk and there's not a clear answer about what direction S2 will take, but holding the suit 'til the last few minutes of S1 all but ensures that S2 is going to have a hard time duplicating the real world feel of S1.

Everything else that's set up is great, all the other characters that... um... survived (
I'm not yet over the loss of Urich
), so I guess it will all depend on the S2 baddie to a large degree.

Give me more of the first 3 quarters of the first season. I thought the final few episodes started slipping a little. Seems like the new showrunners were already closely involved with the show so that gives hopes.

A more mystical twist on the second season? Focusing more the group Stick is working for and whatever Black Sky was?

I mean, and I might be wrong, but it seems this might be coming before Iron Fist and they could use DD to further introduce those themes?

I wish they would call them the Heroes for Hire and not defenders. Defenders sounds like such a b team avengers

That's exactly what they are. Avengers for TV. Street-level Avengers. It's a good association to have IMO.

The only other name that makes sense is "New Avengers" since the Heroic Age version of that had all four of them but I don't think the film division would like the TV division using the name.

This poor series has this beautiful grounded Batman Begin-y, Dark Knight-y first season, and then is stuck being a part of the about-to-get-fairly-cosmically-goofy Marvel MCU, and has its own crazy comic backstory, to boot.

It is true that they dropped some fairly direct hints and references for possible upcoming weirdness this season
e.g. Gao
. But I wonder how many people tuning in next season will feel it's a bait-and-switch if they responded to S1?

Hope the 2nd season has a more Superheroey feel to it.

Grim and gritty gutter slogger Daredevil is all well and good, but lets not forget he is a superhero too.

I hope this show sticks around long enough that we get a season based off of Mark Weid's run

Charlie Cox wearing the "I'm Not Daredevil" shirt all season long

I can safely assume we're getting bullseye and electra. Hopefully we get to see kingpin become kingpin proper as well. More Hand shenanigans and Stick would be nice too, but only in small doses like in S1. Save the powerful mystic side for Iron Fist and the eventual Defenders team-up.

Oh, and more courtroom scenes. I want to see Matt and Foggy wreck it in the law firm. I know it's a superhero show and punching and flipping is more exciting, but I also love that side of Daredevil too.

OH, and since we're talking courtrooms, throw in a Jennifer Walters cameo for the hardcore, please!

All of this sounds great.

I'd also like to see Vanessa be awesome and get Kingpin out while she messes with Matt.
