Dark Souls II |OT++| Bearer of...Seek...Seek...Lest

Started a new game after quite the hiatus in order to have a character ready for the DLC... Not happening. I am ridiculously burnt out on this game (Souls games in general, probably). "Slog" doesn't even begin to describe it and I'm barely into FotFG.

Saving myself for Bloodporn. Gonna detox by playing completely anti-Souls games.

Man, PVP is all fun to me until 99% of the people i get matched with are lvl 500 versions of this guy because of soul memory.

Hope From fixes this somehow. In the arena specially it can get quite annoying.

Perfection. Even on IK Bridge, there are so many of these guys. Weirdly enough, I haven't encountered that many Dark -users, but that's more of an NG+ thing.

As an aside, I urge everyone to try out Inazuma Rush with two Broken Straightswords. Good times.

On PC is anyone having issues with the Dualshock 4? I have the x360 thing installed so it plays perfectly with the DS4..but I have to disconnect and reconnect the controller every time I start the game or it doesn't register.

I started getting this problem just last night, except it was cutting out during gameplay. Had to ALT+TAB and restart the connection on ScpServer. Dunno what the deal is. :/

Is it because they use so little stamina and the straight sword dual wield moveset you can pretty much swing away to your heats content?

The havel set in that gif is the wrong one it doesn't have the T-45d power armor style shoulders in it like this game version does.

When I use 'Great Magic Weapon' on my Raw Black Knight Ultra Greatsword +5, does the magic and raw both stack or is one overridden?

Yes. And by alternating R1L1 you can keep the opponent locked on for as long as you have stamina. But only if there's a wall behind them, otherwise they can escape easily.

I'm using +2 Poison for it, since it's not too overpowered. If you want to go for actual damage, do it with Longswords.

They stack. To clarify: Raw just ups the base physical damage of your weapon, it doesn't add a different damagetype like the elemental infusions.

I'm thinking of doing it with either maxed out poison broken straight swords or a pair of drakekeeper swords. Its just getting the drakekeeper sword takes forever.

I've never even gotten *one* of those, and I've farmed that place to oblivion a few times. Granted I was just after the armor, but still.

Holy crap at the part in the Undead Crypt where

The bell mechanic there is just annoying but that is a troll room until you figure out what to do.

So yeah, Darklurker. I think this was the 2nd toughest fight of the game for me (Ruin Sentinels solo without going to Heide is #1), I was really trying to figure out how to survive the 2nd half of the fight at one point. And the retry cost is quite something, felt almost like playing Demon's Souls again.

Darklurker is the most fun fight in the game. Good challenge, lots of moves etc. etc. The trip to him is quasi-annoying, and somewhat expensive too. More like him for the DLCs thankyouplease.

which ones? the estus healers, the pyro healers, the miracle healers, the ring healers, the item healers.

At least the game dont have steal health

Estus. I mean, running around a corner, and chugging that Flask makes me angry. Hearing that sound fucking ticks me the hell off.

I have had several matches where they would literally run and chug after every other hit. Usually looking like the animated gif above.

I think Manus is the only other boss in Souls games with a move that punished you for blocking while locked on specifically. That teleporting dark ball spell was a hell of a trick

Hahaha, it's a nightmare this room. When you've done it once though, you realise it's a troll room and not a big problem. That first time though, I could not find the exit seemed to be going in circles.

Oh god yes. Chuggers everywhere, even on "honorable" duel-places like IK Bridge. I'm not too fazed by it outside of places like that; If I'm invading, Bellbonging or something like that. Then it's just the way things stand. But healing during duels? Jeez man, why'd you summon me/place your sign down if you were gonna be a jerk.

DkS1 DLC bosses, man. Amazing fights, some of the most fun I've had in a long time with any boss in any game. Darklurker was the only boss that even came close. When he clones himself, it gets so damn intense!

So having played through it twice I've decided the only thing I don't like about DS2 is the weapon durability, which is ludicrous. And yes - I do swing only as many times as is necessary to kill something. Is it affected by any character stats at all? Does two-handing cause it to drop even quicker? I was two-handing a mace as the cleric on a new game and it almost broke just getting through the first area of FotFG (without even fighting the Heide Knight). Durability is by far the dumbest change they made. For one thing, it heavily favours weapons that do more damage, and therefore require less swings.

Durability is pretty bad in this one even worse on the PC version where it's tied to frames or something like that so it degrades even faster.

Nordicus

Mmmm, that only applies to situations where your weapon hits a corpse (ragdolling or not) or a fading animation of an enemy. If he's certain he only hits enemies just enough times to kill them and doesn't get any "secondary hits", then the mace durability must straight-up suck

Mistel

Mace durability is 60 which is pretty much the average for a hammer. I've only had it nearly break when I'm dual wielding a pair of them. The one that's in your right hand seems to take the brunt of durability loss.
For PvP - I'm assuming Iron Keep Bridge, NG, SL 150 is the "meta" and where I'll find most good fights?
Yes iron keep bridge is where PvP is rather common it's soul memory not level based now.

Just spent about half an hour hosting a fight club on the iron keep bridge with red phantoms lol... awesome.

Last battle both phantoms KO'd each other! Some really close fights.

Haha, I think I might have saw you. My character's name is Alastor and I dual wield claymores.

I remember someone dual wielding swords :)

I was dressed up like a heide knight. I'm more of a PVE guy but it was a fun experiment :p Not one red phantom attacked me!

I'm on NG++, just need to make it to the Chancellor to buy a few spells and I'll have my platinum, finally.

to all that joined me today for that pushup challenge - best...idea...EVER!

for those that dont know what i'm talking about - Playing thru the story for the first time & every time i die i have to do 20 pushups.

700 pushups in, i think i'm done for the night :D Tomorrow is squats!

Even though SL Meta is pretty much nonexistent in Dark Souls 2, 135 is better than 150. 150 gives you too much leeway and isn't constrictive enough for build making. 125 was about where it settled out in Dark 1, and most starter classes are about 10 levels higher than they were in Dark 1, so the math kinda checks out. Even though they did add more attributes to level up in Dark 2, the soft caps are lower for most of them, so the build making still works out.

This is great! I usually do these type of exercises myself when gaming, but haven't thought about doing it after every death in Dark Souls.

Man I don't think the Way of Blue is even a covenant, it hardly ever works. I think they need to patch it so that if there's nobody online to summon in an NPC gets summoned then atleast there would be some point to being in the covenant.

It has worked nicely for me a couple of times. Blue Sentinels is crap though: One playthrough wearing the ring 24/7 resulted in getting summoned a grand total of two times.

There are too many variables to make either work "properly": Your SM must be right, you must be in the right area, there must be a red invader..

At least you only need 5 invader kills to max out Way of the Blue, and NPC invaders work for this too. .. And you get a Blue Tearstone Ring, which doesn't stack with the one you find. Woo.

Why this? Why do you need to be in the "right" area? It doesn't make any sense.
No wonder this covenant is broken...

For a sentinel you need to be in an area where the symbol flashes white to be summoned. It's not necessarily where you end up though when you are summoned.

Yeah, you can get summoned to just about anywhere when the symbol flashes, but it places a heavy priority to the area you are currently in, like Cracked Red Eye Orbs and Bellbonger's Ring. The two times I got summoned while wearing the ring were in Central Castle Drangleic, both times summoned to Central Castle Drangleic.

I think the only item that overrides this in a significant way is the Cracked Blue Eye Orb. With that, you can invade any bleeding place from anywhere.

Anymore news about the DLC? Hoping my SL 205 character won't be over levelled or something.

It was also crazy how someone found this out and it actually works - http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/2370zd/i_think_i_just_figured_out_a_sneaky_new_way_to/

Done it myself to farm to rank up and get all the armour lol.

No such thing as overleveling because SM is, and will always be, a thing. Just pile it on, unless you want to engage in metagaming.

That same trick works for PC as well, except you have to look at your task manager to see if the RAM consumption spikes up.

Every opponent I've fought this evening in the BoB arena has used a straight sword or two... The hits come in so fast, I can't get my stamina back up ;_;

Edit: Good fights though, despite me getting destroyed most of the time. Not a Havel or Smelter in sight!

The problem is that cracked blue eye orbs are almost useless

In my experience, Cracked Blue Eye Orbs also place preference on whatever location you're in.
