Some of my favorite blades in the first game are Katana's. The Hiltless and Makoto for example. As for the armor, relatively speaking most of the armor is European-style, but some of the leather armor variants do have a slight eastern look -- the influence here is definitely more European.

Katanas allow for some ridiculously good PvP-oriented builds. Most of it is European fantasy influenced, though.

yes there are some badass katanas in the game. Makoto is an extra long jagged black katana

Not great graphics, but great art design. It takes Dark Fantasy very seriously, and in doing so doesn't look like almost any other game. It is certainly not generic.

You're confusing tech with art direction. People are praising the atmosphere delivered by the later, not that the game rivals Crysis in the former.

As for generic, I think you don't understand the difference between "generic" and "focused" art direction. You may have confused this thread with Dragon Age, though.

Yes, the game has some nice art, but I remember some parts in DS looking very boring and uninspired (repeating textures, etc.) Especially the swamps, but it's been some time since I last played the game. If Dark Souls can improve texture variety and framerate, there is definitely hope.

All we know is that there are "new ways" to play co-op. One can only assume that means the blue phantom system of the old game in addition to some other recruiting methods - Perhaps making use of friends lists this time.

Perhaps it's not right to silence your opinion since we're all entitled to one, but your comments aren't just negative, they are very single minded and really don't move the conversation along at all. Well, not exactly. Bioware's all about the storyline, and gameplay is mostly a means to that end. King's Field, and by extension the "Soul" series, are much more focused on the gameplay, atmosphere, and the overall experience they can provide together.

I don't get the sense of repetition at all from DS. If anything, it's one of the most fully custom game environments out there. The only duplicate areas I can think of are some hallways in the Tower of Latria, but most architecture in real life is repetitive.

The only aesthetic mistakes I ever noticed were the occasional extruded stone block that didn't line up with the stone texture.

If it's not your thing, it's not your thing, but calling it uninspired is a bit of a stretch. Every nook and cranny is oozing with unique character.

Criticism is one thing, outlandish comments are another. And I'm not talking about how you or others feel about whether or not it is fun to play or boring, that is subjective. Yeah, the trailers made it look like they have a very nice looking full screen blur effect for certain attacks and the like. I wouldn't mind if they threw in some subtle object motion blur as well. (The key word being subtle.)
