Am I right in thinking that Edge isn't available in the states?

Why can't WRPGs have an art direction as good as this (or Demon's Souls)?
Instead they follow the same cliches over and over again.

What are you talking about. I love Demon's Souls but this comment is silly.

Everyone PvP hunting a single player who is carrying some special item is one of the coolest ideas for PvP ever... can't wait wait wait!

Collect the heads of 10 Newbie Players!

Sooo much awesome in the scans... just unbelievable.

LOL!

There's no way they would do that right?

They make the game hard but punishing newbies like that?

Okay... you're probably onto something there.

"We are trying to make the most difficult game possible" is pretty scary. It was already so hard. Fuck making it too hard could be a bad thing right? If it's much harder than Demon's Souls I'm afraid that I will miss some content... will I have the time to invest into it?? I must see it all though lol!

Also, what happens if the player is good and you never get the item you need? It would be pretty funny to have high level players as Bosses you could never beat. :D

*pretend to be Vase*
*Murders inquisitive new players for loot*

I like you. Judging by the size of the sword, maybe he ain't that big ? Maybe the perspective.

for perspective, it looks like theres a guy in a cloak standing in front of the tablet thingy

Thou mind hast been blown.

First and last time I indulge myself on screens, the next time i see this game hopefully it'll be in my PS3.

Though I loved the idea of Demon's Souls, I couldn't really get into it. I guess I was too put off by the complete lack of guidance in stat distribution for instance. Yet, again, I do admire the kind of game such a design allows.

Those Dark Souls screenshots look gorgeous though, and I'm definitely buying it on general principle. I wonder whether I should give Demon's Souls another attempt.

I just hope they clarify they system, menus and options of the game. I still don't understand any of the 'symbols' of the first game. This isn't a difficulty thing, it is an obscurity thing that is counter-productive.

Having said that, I fucking love that freaking huge fire monster that is as big as a building staring you right in the face! How scary is that!
And that giant wolf has a very frighting aura about him. I feels very personal and full of malice.

man, this game has the best atmosphere/mood of any other game I've seen!

Demon's Souls has the best mood/atmosphere in this generation (nothing beats world 5 mood), I expect nothing less from Dark Souls. They truly capture the essence of dark fantasy

I also hope that Dark Souls is a little less cryptic (as far as cause-and-effect events with NPCs, especially) - or that at least someone puts out a guide for it.

I agree, this was the only thing i didn't like in the game.

fuck that, i hope it's even more cryptic than Demon's Souls was. i want the game to be so cryptic and full of weird stuff that no one player can figure everything out by himself.

There's the Demon's Souls wiki which makes a lot of the events clearer.

I also hope they find a way to make it that you can get everything in one run. While the idea of giving players a choice is pretty good, particularly when it came to a Demon's Soul that allowed many things, it always peeved me that there would always be something left unobtainable unless you did a new game+ run. The World Tendency thing seemed to punish you when wanting Pure White World Tendency if you played the stages in body form, so I hope the core mechanic doesn't punish you as much. I would prefer that your deaths from enemies was the punishment for failure, but any penalizing beyond that seems a bit unnecessary. You could always just play the stages in Soul form to negate the drop in Tendency, which seemed a bit cheap to do.

Who is planning on importing this from Japan first?

Is the Japanese version of Demon's Souls primarily in English?

Considering the game is aiming for a worldwide 2011 release, who's to say the game won't be released in the same month worldwide?

I believe the Asian version of Demon's Souls had English text, as all versions had English dialog IIRC.

I didn't know that.

The Japanese version of Demon's Souls was not in English, I believe you had to import the Chinese or Korean versions for English subtitles.

The original game was never planned for an EU or NA release, but I think the high demand of importers had some affect on the decision to bring it here.

Yup, I can confirm.
I imported the Chinese version- full English. I didn't even have it in my grubby paws when they announced the NA version. I doubled dipped and bought the CE version too.

BTW I was just wondering : Do we have an idea of when it's supposed to release in 2011 ? Late 2011 like SKyrim ?
I imagine the disaster is surely going to have some impact on any 2011 release date? I just hope all the team at FROM and their families are safe.

Just read the scans

Holy balls...I need this game...but please don't come out close to finals or I will fail my classes, lol (and DS will laugh at me...)

if you don't buy this game, someone should strip you of your videogame playing privileges. forever.

...so the soul can be mended.

I think that's part of the appeal. Nobody had the same experience with it because everyone misses different parts, and the experimentation is a huge part of why it's still got such a community around it.

Thinking about Demon's Souls gets me so wet.

It's amazing how popular these games are now--it's like it's "cool" to like them. That's a damn good thing to have in the video game world.

From Software is Japanese, right? I wonder where they are located and if they have been seriously affected by the disasters?

I hope all is well...

I went looking for Edge magazine and found it but it's last months issue (Toronto.)

Any idea how much delay there is between UK and NA? I don't buy magazines but I'm going to make an exception for this one.

Took so long to come out in the EU, i imported the NA version from VG+ :D

By far one of my favourite games in a generation of massive sequel failures and franchise ruination.
