OMG OMG Oh God!

Just killed my first Black Knight in the Undead Burn. It took me 10 times and had to go to the blacksmith area first and come back.

And it dropped a freaking Knight Sword with 200 damage! Can't even use it with my currents stats. That single encounter was the most tense I've been in a game since RE4 and alone worth the price I paid for the game.

Aw bummer, I totally could have beaten the first Asylum "boss"... I went into the door way by an accident off a roll :(

Anyone kill him first shot? Any good prizes worth starting over for?

should I just forget rolling as a knight/strength warrior?

i have 20 endurance but it's just enough for a weapon (zweihander) and light armor. current attributes are: 15vit, 20 end, 24 str, 14dex (for bow) at level 35.

You get his axe for killing him in the first encounter.

I didn't even know the Black Knight Sword was rare (since I got it on my first kill)...

Can anyone explain to me how to ride the water wheel down to blight town withhout dying?

You don't jump on it from the very bottommost platform. The one just above it is the correct entry.

If you join that covenant and then abandon it, do those forest protector npc's in that area go hostile again when you enter? I want to join for the achievement but I don't want to lose the ability to farm there.

They're friendly sadly. Though I think you could join and maybe abandon the covenant via the NPC at the church.

I'm not quite sure how the forest summon works. I think the person has to come into the forest as a human. 2 out of 4 fights tonight were against a person and a summoned ally. Won 3 out of 4, not bad, I can see quite a bit of pvp going on in there later on. Wonder how much Sin I got today

I'm a Longsword + Shield knight, I try to have at least less than 50%, it's not the best roll, but it is a lot more useful than the really slow and clunky one at over 50%

The havel ring gives you +40% equipment burden, and helps A LOT for that. You get it from that knight who is in the underground tower in undead burg if you have not seen him.

Anyone using the halberd? I just gave it a shot, great range on it and does solid damage too.
They are amazing, especially upgraded.

Mine's +14 and I haven't really used any other weapon.
Which one exactly? And do you use shield with it or do you 2H?

edit: Or are you using 2H for situational things like plunging attacks/free hits on a boss?

Oh no, I didn't mean to press R2 while talking the blacksmith and subsequently hitting him with my +10 Zweihander!

Now he's a bit peturbed and it'll cost me 72,000 souls to absolve. Most i've ever seen is around 20,000 :(

too few are being human
I wish people would turn human after defeating bosses, ala Demon's Souls. The penalties for playing the game as an Undead are not severe enough, and the benefits of rocking the human form are somewhat mild. The game doesn't seem well balanced for online play as a result.

Finally saved up enough souls for the
key to the door in the forest
. Now just wondering if I should go there or to
Darkroot Basin
. Last time I wandered down there, which feels like an eternity ago now, I saw some
scary looking ice creatures that I really don't think I want to fight
. :lol

Also, to think just a few hours ago I was worried about fighting the
large stone knights
multiple times. Now I can plow through all of them without taking more than a hit or two.

Is anyone else having trouble with multiplayer? I'm on 360 and even when I leave my sign in front of boss doors, I never receive a summon. The few times I've been human and tried to summon others with their signs, I get Summoned Failed after a couple minutes of waiting in place. Is the PS3 the place to be for this game or something?

Found
water wheel. Rode it up, and fell off at the top. Rrrrraaaaageeeee. Thank God for the bonfire right before it.

Works fine for me.

Just took down the
Capra Demon
with my very first player summon after failing repeatedly by myself. What once seemed like bullshit became a tense, fun fight and my heart was thumping out of my chest once I realized we'd done it.

I hit a wall in Demon's Souls a few hours in that put me off to it, but Dark Souls has me firmly within it's grasp. This is brutal and amazing stuff, it's all I can think about and I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

Yep, welcome to Dark Souls shitty online structure. It's a pity.

Guys I'm against the
Capra Motherfucker
tried like 6 times and got fucked, went human and didn't see any summon sign, what do I do to get help?

I'm level 20, btw.

From my last Capra-post. It's all about the dogs though... so make sure to kill them, somehow.

Abuse his stun-animations :)
When he runs up the stairs, jump down and roll. When he tries jumping down, he'll get stunned for a second or two. Leaving you with enough time to hit him one time or try running up the stairs again. Don't forget about the lunging attack too!

It's been a Dark Souls kind of day. Finally defeated the boss in the Undead Parish
Bell Gargoyles
after 4 or 5 tries and of course on the last attempt I straight up owned him. It's amazing how a boss or enemy that completely destroys you can be overcome so readily a few attempts later. The feeling for succeeding in that way is awesome. First
Bell is rung!
so on to the second!

Posted this earlier, with no reply.. how much does humanity really effect drop rates?

Farming titanite shards is a PITA.. and wondering if it's worth gathering up 5 or 6 humanity to make it easier.. or is it worth it?

I use it as my main weapon right now, both normal and heavy attacks work in many different situations.

Woot! Just got my Ring
of fog. Apparently the requirement was to kill 3 Forest Invaders.
Now I just need to farm enough souls from another spot for the sweet weapons that Shiva sells and then off with his head :)

That's been the best moment of the game so far. It was such a struggle to get up to the bells, then getting to sit up there for as long as you like, looking down at all the places you've fought through the last 7-8 hours.

Love this game.

Did you have to do that while online?

Your "Item Discovery" stat is 100 without any modifiers. Every humanity brings it up by 20. I have 1 humanity right now and 120 item discovery. There is a ring you can wear that brings it up to 300, so it's like 10 humanity really, it's obtained in Sen's Fortress, not sure if you're that far into the game yet or not...

Just got cursed. Really hate it. Should I go back to the Undead Asylum and trade for stones or just farm and buy a couple? Farming seems a lot slower in this game than Demon's Souls.

Yes, don't recall where I picked one up but I pretty much prefer it to anything in the game for the amazing range and damage - even over the Drake right now. It's phenomenal.

If you have access to the forest, you can farm a crapload of souls to buy the de-curse items.

Damn I'm loving the Balder Side Sword. It's amazing to be able to hold my own in a crowd (since I've only used the bandit knife so far). Also, it was really nice for the Gaping Asshole. What an easy boss when you have a weapon that can actually do damage to it.

Haha, you should be happy for that!

Yah, well if you want to farm do not pass go - head directly to that forest and farm. It's amazing.

FUck me, I missed this ring... I know Sen's Fortress inside and out, so could you possibly tell me where the ring is?

I summoned two phantoms before the fog gate and owned that boss. Killing the dogs are priority.

Does anyone know what the small glowing creatures (not crystal lizards) that sometimes randomly appear are? They hit for minimal damage and always seem to drop an item. I've encountered 2 so far.
