Just making sure... you ARE using the bonfire that's like 2 minutes away from the boss right? Not the one near the entrance to Tomb of Giants?

That bonfire is pretty easy to miss. In my first play through I only found it while walking backwards from the boss to the first bonfire because I had a lot of souls and didn't want to challenge the boss and lose them, then I found the closer bonfire and was like "oh, this is cooL!"

completed the game tonight. finished with a level of 102 and around 58 hours played.

hardest boss in the game for me was 'seath the scaleless'. guy was a true cunt.
That's an odd choice of boss... I've never heard anyone complain about Seath, what kind of build are you using and what gear? Killed him on my first try o.o

just took out the gaping dragon thing. going to farm some humanity/green shards then attempt blight town or whatever. ive heard i should upgrade my spider shield and wear this as well. any other tips before i head down there?

The spider shield is a very nice shield and you should upgrade it. Its stability gets insane when you reach +10 (or more). Oh and Blighttown? Ez. Go for it!

For that, the Hollow Shield is way better, but yeah. Spider Shield is nice.

Isn't Hollow Soldier Shield still better? Looks better, at least :p

I'm so vain, though.

Yeah now that I think about it, I think the Hollow Shield is better in every stat right? I'm checking the Wiki out right now:

Hollow Shield: 100/30/75/50/60 Weight 3.5
Spider Shield: 100/30/72/48/56 Weight 3.0

Turns out that guy I thought the NPCs killed hadn't actually offed him thankfully. Unfortunately, when I got back to him to talk to him after he kicked me down the hole, he didn't give me the option to forgive him, he just attacked me. :/

Sen's Fortress is a pain in the ass so far. I don't mind the enemies in there as I've gotten pretty good at timing a parry against them, but it's still a pain in the ass kind of zone lol. I hate the mi
mic chests. I knew the first one was a mimic, but I got caught on one of the pillars in the room and he got his shitty little one hit kill move on me.
I was doing so well and then I was right back to the bonfire lol

Both the Spider and the Hollow shields are ugly as sin. I need to look beautiful! :c maybe the elusive eagle shield is pretty...

Yeah but I still think that 2 min route is worse than all of DeSos horrors combined. Anyway killed the asshole on my 2nd real try ( not counting the ones where I just died from the fall ) and I have ZERO sense of accomplishment, that goes to show how much I despised this location. I was THIS close to stop playing/resorting to a guide and there have been areas where I've died 50 times without wanting to stop only having each added death push me and make me become better at the game.

This part was just messed up, and not in a difficulty sense, just messed up and not fun. ( I consider Blighttown fun so take that at face value )

What are you invading people for then!?
*Oh shit... how am I supposed to defend myself now? How could I have missed out such a detail! I need to bail out of this thread, as soon as possible!*

Eh, not really. I love it for it's stats, but as far as looks go...yeah, nah.

Thanks. But again, I have no spells, miracles or the like. I have no humanity. I am stuck with 5 flasks that are +5. I've only gotten one shot at the boss and took 80% of its life but died died because the game decided to lagg like a mutha. I am stuck at this bonfire mentally because I am NOT going through cata/tombs again. This is make or break and I just died from the fall before the boss with all my flasks in hand. Feels good man.

You, sir, are ill prepared and have obviously not read any of the advice given on the Tomb of the Giants given in this thread, the wiki or anywhere else. I wish you luck in doing it the super hard way.

That's supposed to happen. You have to make your way back up and talk to him. Did you say
you were a priest? Cause if you answered yes, then that's why. You have to answer no.

took me a good 7 or 8 attempts to kill Seath. at first i wasn't expecting the curse business, so i wore some curse resistent gear the next time which managed to combat the curse effect, but he'd start wildly smashing his tails all over the place and they'd do massive damage to me ...and then when i'd try to drink a potion, he'd finish me off.

i finally beat him wearing the Havel's set (using an Eagle shield since i don't have the required STR to equip the Havel's shield properly.

i found him the worst tho.

my character is a melee dexterity build using:

havel's helm
havel's gauntlets
havel's leggins
black iron armor (upgraded to +5)
eagle shield upgraded to +10

using a Markumba (? dunno exact spelling) sword (its a big curved sword) +15.

i also have a Falchion that i upgraded to Quelaag's Furysword ...which is alright, but the damage is somewhat disappointing at times when you come across things that have a higher resist to fire. its physical damage leaves a lot to be desired.

that Markumba sword (or whatever the hell its called) is pretty nice for a dex build. doing a little over 500 dmg 1 handed with it now ...its 2 handed strong attack is really nice and powerful.

oh, i also use a Long Bow on switch ...its currently +14. i use the bow a fair bit.

Huh? Why the hell would I want to play the game the way others tell me to? Are people actually reading guides and resorting to help before even reaching an area? Also I'm not touching a wiki site until I'm done with my first playthrough. I'd rather experience the game in realtime rather than knowing shit in advance and just going through the motions.

Also you say "good luck with the super hard way", I consider my playthrough a damn normal playthrough, just because I don't know every secret and hint there is to know about the game doesn't mean I'm purposefully making it hard on my self. Any yokel can follow a guide.

Sseklebeast said:
It's awesome at +5. With decent dex and 15-20 humanity you will tear shit up!

Yeah I'm a DEX build as well. I'm experimenting with some dual wielding, Lightning Iaito +5 in one hand and the Furysword in the other. They combo up pretty nicely with alternating strikes. Dunno which I want to be my main. Also not sure how effective it is to parry with swords. Still the cool factor alone is worth it. :P Just looks awesome.

Wow. Here's another ridiculous glitch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVNJL2lI_qE

Stone Greatsword + sprinting apparently destroys everything around you rather than just slowing them down.

This game has so many exploitable glitches...

This game is all about planning out your moves before you do them. You went into a completely dark area without planning ahead, have no humanity for the boss fight, yet you're bitching and griping about it being difficult. You don't need a guide to see how terribly prepared you are and how bad of a player in general you must be.

u only need it for blighttown right? i.e. the poison heavy areas?

I can trim them down to 2 but I keep on getting crushed by the homing spells.
I'll eventually beat you!

They stop scaling at 10 humanity, and after 4 humanity you start getting diminishing returns.

Fire is better.

Fire weapons will never look as cool as Furysword ~

I'm pretty sure the damage I did with humanity above 10 was higher by a small amount. I think instead of doing 310 damage I did maybe 312 or so. It does stop altogether of course as I have around 30ish humanity and the damage is the same with lower.

Yeah, no. It stops at 10.

Heh, prepared. I guess that's an option one has when you know what's around every corner.

edit: for clarification, I didn't necessarily say/mean it was difficult rather dumb/infuriating. I got the boss on my 2nd try, it was the gauntlet of idiocy up until the boss that aggravated me. But hey keep looking for those glitches on youtube maybe they'll aid you in your future endeavors.

Any tips on stats for a pyro? Just started one up, I guess all points in int and attunement?

Pyro spells don't need int! You can pump str/dex and still have all your spells.

Does anyone have any idea of how high you have to get DEX for something besides fire or lightning to be more powerful?
Read once you get into the 40s you'll begin to see the stat bonus weapons outdo the elemental weapons. Of course, the benefit\drawback of elemental may still come into play...resistance and lack there of....

i'd say you'd really have to kindle that campfire closest to the boss @ the tomb of giants.

5 potions wouldn't be enough for me anyway.

the good thing with the stat bonus weapons is that you can buff them easily with lightning, fire, etc, ...and you keep the excellent physical damage on top of that elemental buff.

Nothing pisses me off more than these giant all on fours skeletons. Fuck the tomb. I try to strafe around them but the whole place is designed to be an inch long area so you can't get around. They bust through all of my stamina in one of their combos I have to block, and if he lands a hit bye bye 80% health.

This is definitely my least favorite dungeon in the game. I'd rather be in Blight town again for 7 hours than do this shit hole. :/

Edit: I was doing fine rarely/never dying in this game, but this dungeon has escalated my death ratio up by a metric fuck ton. :/

Come on mate, you were just not prepared for the place. Didn't you see the writing on the wall that pointed out their presence? Oh you didn't? Guess you're a bad player then.

Damnit, failed to cut off Seaths tail. Gah. Will have to try to get it on the next playthrough then.

Also need Priscillas tail. On the next on then to I guess.

I'm going to be honest here, but, I find Dark Souls easier than Demon's Souls really. Don't know why. Sure some areas are pure shit and made of pure cheesiness instead of challenge (Lost fucking Izalith, I HATE YOU!), but overall I find it much easier. Weird.

Sseklebeast said:
You're right it stops at 10. My mistake. Can you tell me where to buy Titanite Chunks again? :P

You can't. You have to farm them. New Lando Darkwraiths are good. Unless you unlocked the final area before the boss, the enemies before him have a 100% droprate on various chunks.

Huh?

I don't speak Blanka player.

My issue with these guys is simply the layout of the dungeon doesn't permit for room to fight them. If you try to take them face on, you will lose because they will rip your stamina to shit in one combo and thus it will lead to your death before you can back off to regain it/heal yourself. Too many tight areas with ledges to fall off, and yet they don't fall of as hard as I try to angle them to push themselves off.

Man that darkwood forest is brutal.

It's like you get invaded in pairs of two's. All the fucking time. Holy shit.

The game's controls and design for PvP doesn't work 1 vs. 2. I keep getting backstabbed. It's bullshit.

I guess if I had some godlike AoE effect spell, maybe - but either nobody invades in the forest, or -two- invade...at.the.same.fucking.time.

So, do I go to the
swamp (or maybe Great Hollow?)
after fighting the
Gaping Dragon
? That's where I ended up in
Blighttown
, at least.

Who sells resin?

Been rolling around with the mail breaker trying to time parries until I can get the parrying dagger. Armorwise mostly with the Gold-Hemmed Cloak, it's so much better than the armor's I've found up til now... I love the hood from it too but don't feel like my speedy thief digs the skirt... so manchettes and the elite knight boots for some poise. I think it looks pretty good for a ninja character.

I was having trouble with this.
Get yourself a pyro glove and learn Iron Flesh. When you get into the fight, charge down the first King and after you are close (like, touching the cunt) cast Iron Flesh, go 2 handed with your weapon and just go to fucking town. Iron Flesh makes the fight seriously easy. don't curse yourself for the fight either, you don't need it to damage them.
