how can i farm humanity? I need 30 for the chaos firestorm. (i broke the covenat, hope i can still obtain that)

Go to the tomb of giants and the baby-skeleton pool. Kill the casters, equip the evil eye ring and covetous snake ring and just farm those little skeletons. Got 40 humanity in 20 minutes there. Yes you've got to get all the way to the end of the tomb of giants, but the hard part is just getting there. When you hit the bonfires in the level you can pretty much just run through to the area you need to be in.

Oh this shit needs to be asked too:

Did you play as Pygmy? I thought that was going to be the case when the opening intro played, and I don't remember seeing him at all the whole game. Sort of makes sense right?

finally got to the 2nd bonfire in Anor Londo....and am out of humanity after kindling it once. after i get out of here and i can warp everywhere i really need to kill some of those damn rats and get some before i go anywhere else...that and beef up the weapons/armour im carrying..

Can you be a bit more specific about what triggers this? sounds like a bad bug.

If you want humanity just do the groups of rats near the bonfire in Depths, there's 2 groups of 5 so you can clear multiples with a single blast of aoe magic. Rinse/repeat.
with that cat ring if you invade a world of a player that is doing an ng+ your game can be setted to that difficulty.

i'll try for the rats then.

Ever since getting the lightning spear from Sen's Fortress and upgrading it to +3. Wow, the damage is higher than my Divine Halberd +5. Sticking to spear for now.

i finished sens fortress and never got this...where is it? i need to go back and buy some green titanite anyway once i can warp there and finish anor londo.

i hate the place and i don't know where that pool is.
if with the rats i can't i'll try to reach that pool, maybe i can see a video.

Damn. That's a bad bug.

I would assume it should only be a factor at high-ish SL?

I've deliberately been holding myself at a reasonable level (45 now, was 42-ish when I was farming) though so I suspect odds a fairly low that I'd get paired with a NG+ player.

That said dupers/glitchers/save-hackers could conceivably be on that at a low level so... Has this bug been reported on both platforms (PS3 here) ?

I've got the ring now, so I guess I could just whack Shiva as I've got the weapons I'm interested in (Shotel and Demon Spear) for his ring and simply abandon the covenant.

Estus flasks heal you?! Oh man, I didn't know what they did. I was fighting all this time with no healing.

The butterfly shield feels overpowered lol.

Whatever weapon you have in your right hand corresponds with how much damage your shield does x2.

In a game all about survival this concept should not exist in our minds whatsoever. Whatever is exploitable or more advantageous is fair game.

Remember where the boulders roll down the staircase? Wait for 10 boulders to roll down and make a run up. I never made it up without getting hit once. Flip the switch and run down. In the small hallway to your left is a treasure chest. Beware that treasure chest is a mimic. Opening it will trigger a death scene. Before you attack it. I recommend getting Covetous Gold Serpent Ring which isn't that far from your location. The ring is in the room behind the demolished wall. Boost item discovery by 200.

What really like is that the areas are actually smaller than they seem the first time you enter. After some place seems like a labyrinth the first time you come in, you can make it in and back within 5-10 minutes counting all the fighting.

That was awesome! Summoned a dude into my game, less than a minute later we get invaded, we wreck the invader, then defeat the Blight Town boss. This game is so rad.

guys, one thing about co-op: i am at my first run but can i play in co-op with players that are doing an ng+?
i'm asking this 'cause i was thinking to farm in the forest (i can farm 25k souls in a minute) but if i become too overlevelled i can't play in co-op anymore, or maybe i can.

yes, i have the ring of havel so i can use the smough set keeping my equip load < 50%.
and ok, i have that soul.

Ok so I can't promise I know the "real" answer to this. But My SL 63 guy was at Undead Parish the other night and I dropped my soul sign just for kicks (I was just killing the knights in the area). I didn't expect anything, because who is doing gargs at SL 63?

I was surprised when I actually got a summon and I joined 2 other players both of whom had pretty sweet gear. One guy in particular had a flaming sword weapon and a lot of nice armor and I can't imagine he did Catacombs and/or Qelogg first (not to mention if it was the Qelogg weapon he would have needed to be in Anor Londo, but he was ringing the first bell).

I also swear that the gargs were much tougher and considering I was smashing them with a +10 weapon they lasted a long time and did high DPS (the other Phantom died during the fight). But it could have just be all in my head ;)

Anyways, so there is my purely anecdotal evidence for thinking, yes, NG+/NG++/etc doesn't matter for co-op, only the SL does.

PS - I spent a good portion of last night on my SL 15 newbie (faith build) just helping people do the Gargoyles boss. I must admit it felt REALLY cool to get some guy struggling past the boss, and then a few minutes later back in "my world" I hear him ring his bell ;)

One question about that - Do those count towards Solaires covenant requirements? Or does he have to make an offer to me to tell me that I should help other people to join?

Can you not summon an NPC though if you have a real player with you? Not a single person summoned Solaire for that fight.

So it's about time for me to go through New Londo Ruins, but when I try the same thing happens as it did the first time I try to explore it, I can't do any damage to the ghosts.

It's not that it says zero damage on their life bars, it's just that my weapon swings right through them. My shield does nothing to prevent damage from them either, their attacks just go right through it.

I know they're ghosts, but my first visit it was like this, my second visit I was able to kill them with no problem (with the same weapon, an upgraded longsword) and now again here on my third visit, there's no detection there at all.

Does this sound like a bug? Or is there something painfully obvious I'm missing?

You can... Only if they haven't used up their co-op slots for other people being summoned. First time I did the fight was with Solaire and a person I had summoned.

I had a similar experience. This guy who invaded me once before, entered later when I had 2 people with me JUST in case he was going to come back. He shows up and he just bows as we tool him. LMAO! He knew he was fucked before it even happened. We promptly did joy emote on his corpse.

Thanks for the free 23K souls jack ass! :D

You need to be cursed. So either use the Transient Curse item (find it, or buy it from the vendor in Undead Burg near the sewers) or be actually cursed (from the frogs in the depths and don't get cured).

As the actual curse cuts your hp by 50% and Transient Curse does not, I recommend Transient Curse (4000 souls per). You only need to buy it once, after that the drop rate on the ghosts is high enough you will have a good stockpile.

I can only assume so. It would be the only reason that the player can return to life and regular NPCs get because they're branded with the Darksign.

The game does an absolute horrible job of even trying to make a story. The story is hands down the only awful thing about the entire experience.

My first PVP experience the other day was sort of fishy. I was level 18'ish and had just kindled the bonfire above the blacksmith in Undead Parish and I got invaded. The Black Phantom had a shotel in his right hand, a catalyst in his left hand and immediately hit me with Tranquil Walk and then proceeded to 2 shot me with his lightning weapon.

Lightning weapon could have come from resin but is it feasible for a level 20'ish character to have Tranquil Walk and a Shotel?

You can only hurt them if you are cursed, or if you have a cursed weapon. :P

So either buy Transient Curse, or get cursed by the frogs (though, that halves your HP).

Ah jeez, that makes so much sense now, as I was that second trip.

Thank you guys.

Any chance you could check my other question in the community thread?

Wow I guess just no one likes him... while I did do an attempt that was a "full house", the vast majority of the runs I got summoned to was only the host and myself.

I invaded someone's world as a Darkmoon invader and found a red phantom had already invaded. I promptly killed the red phantom (because it was a darkwraith member and they are kill on site for darkmoon invaders), and then when the host bowed to me, I stabbed him in the back and one shot him. I felt kind of bad after the fact, but I found solace in the fact that I already started my attack animation when he began his bow. I take it as a sign of seppuka for his original sins that drew me to the world to begin with. :P

Why would you feel bad? His name in the book of the guilty. If you didn't do your duty, the rest of us who have been indicting people would be upset at you! :D

There are players who exceed at playing with a low level characters for the simple purpose of harassing other low level characters. And this means opening up weapon and item paths early.

I completely agree. The game just needed a better final cut scene to help knit it together better.

Edit: Oh wow I just read up that Gfaqs thread and realized if what they are saying is right then
Defeating Gwyn and touching the fire is actually the bad ending right? The good ending is the one you get if you back out and are greeted by all the snake penis heads/frampts as you become the Dark Lord AKA the Lord of Mankind. That's pretty damn cool.

I actually thought the story was pretty cool, but I must admit I'm no where near clever enough to piece together something so abstract. There was a great thread on it on gamefaqs (I think) where people were piecing it together from what NPC's tell you and what is written on some legendary / rare items.

For your part I believe you are actually a descendant of the pygmy, and it is your destiny not to be the saviour of the Undead, but the new Lord of Mankind (the "Darkness" being representative of the birth of Mankind with dominance over the Undead).

I remember placing the Lordvessel a few days ago and thinking I never wanted the game to end. A few hours later I just wished for it end as soon as possible.

Some of the later parts of this go into bad fan-mod territory and it really soured me on the experience. Ugly ass environments with repeated enemies and big empty spaces with nothing going on, if possible with insane framerate drops and some annoying gimmick to take up your time trying to get somewhere. The beginning of Lost whatever is the worst single piece of gaming I've even experienced.

I also felt pretty overpowered for most part even though Anor Londo had me challenged. I think I raised my level maybe five times during the whole endgame, spending the rest of the souls on merchants and silly upgrades. Also payed for absolution once trying to get Framps back (who randomly decided to disappear because I fell into his hole). It didn't work and I have no idea what I even payed for, since I pretty much hadn't even messed around with the covenants at that point.

This is such a case where I would enjoy the game a lot more if some things were just left out completely. Really a shame on such an otherwise amazing game. The first few areas you encounter are simply amazing and a few of the late game ones are pretty good as well. If they just decided to cut the crap and put that time into expanding on the better parts this game would have been the game of the generation.

Almost considering buying a PS3 solely for Demons Souls.

I'm a thief, but have been hearing a lot about this winged spear fairly early in the game. I just rang the first bell and have +5 bandit knife, +5 hollow shield, +5 short bow. Where do I get this spear?

I hit a low last night with Ornstein and Smough, but woke up feeling refreshed this morning and am determined to take them out. I think my main problem last night is that I was just tired and not really in the right mindset to begin with. Even so, I don't think I have ever played a game that sticks in me like thorn quite like this one does. It drags me down and beats me into submission, yet makes me feel more determined than ever later on. A lot can be said for a game that is able to carry you across the spectrum of emotions like this one does.... and it does it with ease. There is an incredible psychological effect with this game that even Demon's Souls just did not have.
