I honestly have no idea what I'm doing in this game. Half the time I feel like I can't take out an enemy because he's too strong so I go another path, to find another enemy that's hard, and I end up having no clue where to go.

I'm only learning about more game mechanics through Dark Souls Wiki.

Hopefully, it will help me appreciate the game more.

geez i need to do the Crystal Ring Shield, but it sucks.
i would like to do the shield with the soul of Sif (Greatshield of Artorias) but it needs 34 of strenght. =| wtf? Then the weight is 16.

You really gotta find a guide to tell you which places to go and in which order--since you're a first timer.

Try this guide:

Quite helpful.

Guys I just finished Blighttown yesterday today I was trying to get missed items and I'm finished with this place, where I should be headed next? I tried the great hollow but those fucking frogs keep cursing me and the big mushrooms 1 hit kill me too, so, I guess I shouldn't be here yet.

So I decided to switch it up and run lightweight for a bit... and I'm really enjoying it. I have a shield for backup, but most of the time I just have the whip in the off hand and a bandit knife in the right. Have pyromancy and poison mist on the ready for a tricky sneak attack.

Last invader got his world wrecked lol. (probably just an average player, no uber gear)

I feel like Indiana Jones half the time.

So I'm about to buy the key for that place. Is killing those dudes bad? Will it cause me more grief going through that whole area?

So I'm at the second bonfire in blight town, I'm out of moss, and I get poisoned whenever I trek to the boss...

What do?

Leave, go to Darkroot Forest, farm the walking tree looking creatures for moss.

Or at least, that's what I'd do.

They respawn. It MIGHT affect the forest covenant standings, if you haven't met Alvina yet.

If you have though,you're fine.

Pray, son. Pray.
Also, you can bail out if you go up in the waterwheel, then further up on every ladder instead of going into the poison darting guys, you will be able to run back to Firelink Shrine in a matter of 2-3 mins.

Only if you're already in the Forest Covenant. They attack if you're not and killing them dosn't affect your ability to join later on.

The crystal ring shield is amazing if you're not using it as a shield. Mine does about 1200 damage.

If you're trying to decide on a good shield and happen to have a decent amount of twinkling titanite, I'd suggest the silver knight shield from the guys in anor londo. Fully upgraded mine has 83 stability, only weighs 5, and has great resists PLUS looks cool.

I haven't. Is she deeper in into the forest? Also, this is the grind-y area where people are levling higher right? (the 20k soul door I mean)

Yep. If you go through and want to meet her straight away, haul it to the northwest, she'll be in a little castle-looking alcove. Try to instigate a conversation, and they should leave you alone if they're chasing you. Make sure you tell her what she wants to hear.

I accidentally attacked a friendly npc, how do I stop him from trying to kill me?

Its the guy in the barrel in the depths.

if you didn't kill him, go talk to the creepy priest dude at the bottom of the first belltower and request absolution. It'll cost some souls.

Don't send him there, he'll accidentally attack him too!

Thanks for the help gents. Also, this forest area has to be the best looking area in the game for me so far. Its a godsend after spending so much time in the depths/blighttown/great hollow.

Awesome :( stuck there with no humanity, no souls and the fucking casters are destroying me :(
Just kill the skeletons one by one.. Try to let the environment block the Soul Arrows. Do it slow and you will be fine. (I just poked them all with my Lightening Spear)

It's not that hard really, and it is not that long. :)

1200 wtf? Which weapond are you using?
I tried with the lighting spear+3 360 damage, with the sword of queelag+4 490 damage.

I wonder if I can upgrade the whip with lightning or something... this is my new mission.

Only its name is Crystal, right?
So it can be actually repaired? :D

If you have no problems connecting to people when laying your summon stone a great place to farm souls is the
Gaping Demon
boss fight.

It's a bit hit and miss how long you have to wait to be summoned (in my experience anything from 1 minute to 15 minutes when I was at level 29), but as you can finish off the Demon in ~3 mins it's an easy 12500 Souls each time. I spent around 90 minutes in total on it and cleared 137k, spent most on weapons/upgrading and the last chunk on levelling up to carry on through the game.

I'm no expert, but I finished Blighttown a short while ago and I managed to get kinda deep into the door that opens in the cutscene after ringing the bell, where the Onion Guy is
you know, Sen's Fortress in case you didn't know
. It's a fun place :)

I beat and tried the Blighttown boss several times WITHOUT moss, btw. I just went into the boss room poisoned. It was annoying as fuck, though.

I wish I could show you but there is a route you can take that you will not get poisoned, turn right out of the sewer bonfire, go towards the hut there, it has a ugly fire spitting dude there, kill it, then cross over to the land, follow the land which leads you towards the left side of the area, cross small water and you will be in front of the boss island, and sprint across.

I cant imagine that helped but I hope it did.

Don't even sweat killing NPCs you meet in the game. I had no clue that wall that looks like Quaelag or w/e by that bonfire was a NPC until I was 80% through the game and realized I could never light that bonfire anymore if I teleported to it.

I mean, the first time I saw Frampt my initial reaction was to fuck him up, but I slowly approached with my shield up till I saw the talk prompt. Same thing with the cat in the forest.

That's just my reaction to fucked up shit in a game full of fucked up monsters that kill you in one shot. I mean hell the wall looking EXACTLY like the boss you just fought isn't something you think to chat and ask questions, or in my case I was able to stab from further away then I could actually do a prompt to speak. To add to that it was a 1 stab kill, and behind the wall was a Firekeeper soul to upgrade my Estus Flask so I thought I had done good.

Oh and fuck the cat. He asks some jacked up question to which I said no to, and so after that he doesn't want shit to do with you therefore no covenant for me. Treasure > your requests you ghetto Chesire wannabe.

I don't know why the
Painted World
has given me so much trouble...I feel stupid struggling against those basic enemies

I'm debating between starting NG+ and starting a new game/building strength based tank (like the huge shield guy at the Undead Church). Is Ng+ worth it for a pyro/mage hybrid?

I really appreciate the advice but I ended up just running through and just using flasks as a means to counter the poison and with the help of some phantoms, we did it! Now on to Demon Ruins (?)

If it's the flying Raven/Crow men, then you are better off just avoiding them. It's easier to just get all the treasures, run in areas where those guys can reach you, and then go tackle the mini boss and the boss of the world.

Some of the monsters just aren't worth the hassle and they happen to be one of them. Another is the Jurassic Park rejects in Lost Izalith.

I have a question related to this games save system: is it possible to test something as dramatic as killing an NPC for example, then delete the local save, download my cloud backup, and load?

I don't want to take any risks unless they've been tested.

So I just beat the Paining of Aramis. Only Jeremiah never invaded. I was in human form. The phantom with me had this puzzled look on our faces. We ran all around the courtyard for a good 3 minutes. Nothing. Did I miss something to get him to invade? Just realized I missed this eastern part of the courtyard. Damn....

Why is it that, sometimes, I see yellow lights coming going towards my players head and then it says something about Locking On? I thought maybe I was being invaded but didn't see anyone. I'm only SL 4. Pretty sure there weren't any enemies dying either.

I kinda feel like the forest farming spot is the major thing that throws everything else off, even if you don't glitch it the guys die in 30 seconds or so depending on how much they evade and give you 2000. It's awesome... but it ruins the rest of the game. I don't mind dying in Anor Londo because those guys are harder and don't give you crap, and I can just go make it up in the forest in a matter of minutes :/

I also feel like the Dragon Sword you can get early on throws off itemization pretty badly until mid game.

Two small tweaks there and I think the game would feel a bit more balanced, atleast in the early to mid game.

I actually got the knight sword and to be honest it wrecked a lot of stuff early on... and if you get the Gravedancer sword early forget the dragon sword.

Yes it works, but there is a 24 hour limit between each download from Cloud, so it's useless.

Is Smough's the best armor I'm going to find? It's kind of ugly. And now that I killed that hacker with 300k souls, I can go shopping.

I never saw anything about locking on, but the yellow glow going into/towards your character is free Estus Flask restores that will add 1 more heal to whatever you currently are holding.

Not sure what prompted this.

Oh okay, I saw that I had 5 Estus Flasks again, but thought I got them from talking to the merchant. Thanks.

i'm in such a shit area atm, i'm at the boss of Anor Londo and i have no humanity and i get completly demolished by it ( tryed 10-15 times ) and when drop a summon sign and nobody summons me... ( been 30ish minutes ) Any advice.....?

In the Depths, made it past the Gaping Dragon.

Would have done it the second time in, if I hadn't kept being invaded.

How do I put someone in the book of Indictment? Do I have to open it while they are in my world?
