Even the regular mobs are now killing me.

It's impossible to make the difference between an enemy losing their balance, or preparing a powerful attack. If it is losing balance, I should attack, but no, it was preparing an attack, so we both hit at the same time and lose health.

What class are you playing?

Uh, Valley of Drakes. Is this a place I want to be?

I went down there and aggroed the first dragon and managed to beat him, but it was clear it was NOT the place to be. I was taking off no damage even with my +1 drake sword.

In any event, I beat Capra Demon. This guy was way overhyped here, I thought I was going to cry or something. Just run left up the stairs, take out dogs and then the dumb demon is easy as pie to defeat. Stupid as shit to have a boss fight with two adds in such a small space, though.

Also, there's no Blighttown shortcut? Seriously? Madness.
Get the key in the chest by the very last ladder near the tunnel leading to Valley of Drakes, cross the little board bridge and use the key to open the door to the left. Takes you to the entrance of New Londo Ruins.

The tight space is exactly what everyone is complaining about. It's really cheap. Half the time I would go in there and just immediately get stormed and cornered into a wall and immediate death.

Because Firelink ultimately becomes what is basically the game's central hub.

I get that (I've opened a good chunk of the game already) but a player just starting out has a 2/3 chance of wandering into an area they have no business in and getting obliterated. In fact, the area with the skeletons seems the obvious route to start out in, when the reality is the exact opposite.

There's plenty of areas sealed off with keys and whatnot to keep newbies from wandering into them before they're ready, having those two areas positioned where they are is confusing.

Are you talking about the one with the huge silver knight at the bottom?

No that door on the right when you get to the bridge with the Red Dragon.

well i am just sl 45. so maybe it changes later but right now it seems dex has done nothing but let me use a couple weapons. I would of saved about 15 or so stat points if i new that

You have to look at stat scaling, not just stat requirements.

Right but it's not actually that hard at all to get up the stairs, which is really the only key to beating this battle. If you use one well placed dodge roll you'll already be prepped to go up the stairs and then it's game over for the Capra, any skilled player is not going to die after that point. He goes like 1/2 health with one plunge, and even if you take him head on you can easily defeat him in a few well placed hits once the dogs are gone. It's really only the dogs that are unnecessary due to the small space.

Totally lost. Again!

Beat the Iron Golem, got to Ando Londo whatever, place seems way beyond my abilities right now though, although I managed to beat one of the gargoyles and get across the chapel rafters and extended the bridge. But then I got down to a place with like 20 white ninjas and said fuck that.

Apart from that the only places I know of are... well the giant wolf with the sword in its mouth that I stand no chance against, the New Londo Ruins... yep that's about it as far as possible things to hit up
.

Alright, can someone help me out here and elaborate on where the shortcut back to Undead/Firelink is in the
Depths
? I'm sitting on a ton of souls here and I'd like to go back to Undead Burg and stock up on Firebombs and stuff before I go any further.

I'm at the (only?) bonfire down here, by the way.

Turn right just before the Capra Demon fog door

There will be two assassins (?) down there, one will ambush you from the left, the other is in plain sight. Go up the staircase on the left hand side. There will be an archer there, but he is too easy. Keep going up until you are in the aquaduct that you were in at the beginning

There's some sweet equipment just laying around there though, and those drakes are slow as hell. I stripped to my undies, ran circles around them and picked up a ton of stuff at level 20.

of course, I got killed before I got out of there, but I didn't have any souls to lose at that point so it was win/win.

It's can be hard or easy to get up the stairs depending on whether the dogs feel like blocking you or not.

I need a spear (preferably that you can block and attack with), that has Intelligence as a stat-booster... is there one?

I can kill them, it just takes a while. I didn't feel like going through the trouble.

What equipment should I have been getting? Any good thief shit?

Didn't know they block you. They didn't bother doing that for me.

Gah, it happened again.

Was running along, a noise that something died, and then I absorbed a yellow light. It happened 3 times in under 30 seconds.

What is that yellow light suppose to mean? Did an NPC die? I didnt gain any souls.

Yeah. Sometimes I run to the stairs and get blocked. Most of the time I just die immediately, what soul level is recommended for this fight? Im 17 pyro.

you get +1 or 2 estus flasks. It means someone kindled a bonfire you were near, or rated a message you place.

They do, even if they're just milling around. Infuriating.

Ah, that sucks I guess. The tight space really was unnecessary. Guess I should be glad I did it in two turns.

Bandit's Knife cuts through them like they're Tauntauns. :>

not for me with the gear/stats i had, one plunge took off about 10%. Still wasn't much trouble after the initial entrance to the room. Definitely the size of the area that causes problems.

This is not a bad thing. This a very, very good thing.

Anyway, just beat Q
ualeeg and rung the second bell, now the question is do I go deeper or return to the surface for a breather.
Decisions decisions..

Zeliard said:

My +1 Drake Sword does like an infinity billion more damage than my Bandit Knife does at this point, and I'm a f00kin' thief. I'm just not meant to be there yet.

The Drakes are super easy, just time consuming. I can wait I'm sure.

I need a super light weapon (for my caster) that gets damage bonus from Intelligence... anyone :/? (I'm not playing the game btw, just planning ahead).

Okay, I'm confused. See, I'm IN the Depths now, in fact right now I'm right outside the door to Blighttown. And I'd REALLY like to get back to Firelink before I go any further. Surely there has to be a shortcut? I'm so lost down here...

upgrade the winged spear, using magic weapon in the meantime?

take the ladder shortcut back to the bonfire in the depths (have you found that? it's on the other side of the bars from where the
giant rat
was, from there it's pretty quick to go back to lower undead burg, up the tower near the depths entrance and pop out in the tunnel right near firelink shrine. don't need much more of a shortcut than that.

God I really hate the ghosts in the Ruins. I have tons of Transient Curses ... but they just fucking gang up on me sometimes and come from all these weird angles / levels through the walls and shit.

Fuck fuck fuck. Almost had capra. Finally ran up the stairs and had him at 2/4 health but hit me twice while running up stairs. Gah

Completely forgot about magic weapon... is it sorcery or miracle?

Here's what I picked up when i was running around in there:

The brigand armor set: Spider shield, brigand armor, brigand hood, brigand gauntlets, brigand trousers.

A dragon crest shield that's 100% to physical and about 80% to fire

Astoria's sword, scales with strength/dex/and faith at C rank

and there's supposedly a ring down there I missed and might go back for later. Didn't take long at all to grab this stuff, those dragons look big but will never hit you.

Sounds like you got lucky man. When I go in there? Capra on the right, both dogs on the left, no where to run past, I get reamed.

I spent about two hours in there getting owned before just giving up and saying to hell with it.

Those things weren't even giving out any souls for my trouble.

edit: I swear to god I saw one with a red face that screamed at me too. F that place.

anor londo is your next stop. Good luck because you will need it at a specific part :)

Any good links/info for PvE builds? I'm playing a Warrior right now and just got access to the forest farming area, figure it's time to level up some. I'm SL 23 right now, current stats:

VIT: 16
ATN: 12
END: 15
STR: 17
DEX: 13 *
RES: 11
INT: 12 **
FTH: 9

* Not sure how this is 13, I remember doing 12 for the short bow, don't recall the extra point.
** Newbishly did this at the start thinking it would let me get some basic spells, didn't know I needed Attunement instead :(

Also looking for a good PvE 1H (not a spear if it can be avoided) that will be comparable to Drake Sword.

Any tips?

sorcery. i'm assuming it scales with INT but i haven't been boosting mine so can't be sure.
yeah I wish I could do a Moon Winged Spear (Intelligence stat bonus)... dunno how to upgrade it the Winged spear in DkS :/
