I ended up loving them. In fact, when discussing these two archers with my friend, I call them Bill and Bob. Bill being the one on the left (while facing them).

poor billy, he had to go first :)

it would be perfect if not for the horrifying framerate and occasional shoddy translation errors.

but it's the framerate that is working to limit my enjoyment of the game. It's a masterpiece in all ways but that... but that is a major flaw :(
Yea. The slowdown is definitely noticeable :(

Wowza the fight with Sif was fucking amazing. I could just barely block any hits he through at me and it was so tense all the way through. Holy shit!

Kinda dislike the auto-save sometimes. I'd like to go back and fight him, but I can't now. I feel like I really missed out on my first true feeling of success in this game.

Honestly I didn't find the fight very hard at all, only took around 8-10 firebombs if that, so I didn't really feel much success from fighting it fairly. There are much harder and much more victorious moments in the game beyond that stupid asshole.

hwahwahwahwahwahwahwhawha.

I'm glad to see GAF's finally reached this part of the game. Oooh, sooooo good.

What the hell is wrong with this game??? Friggin HOMING arrows? For real? Game should get 0/10 just because of this part!!!

Wow. Dog bite, hit with sword, all in 2 seconds. God dammit. I can't take this...
Roll towards the stairs. Kill the one or both dogs at te top of the stairs. When Capra gets up there drop down and move away and Estus. Then keep luring it up the stairs and getting it to jump down. When he drips down he is stunned for a moment giving you a chance to either drop attack him or Estus.

You'd think it would be obvious, but it wouldn't be the first time I had that conversation about FFVIII. not to derail the convo, but there were a lot of gamers back then that played it like it was 7 (overleveled, didn't junction), got frustrated, and never went back to it.
Haha, and then they went on saying how FFVIII sucked. Yeah I know, I've had to argue with a bunch of these people. Anyway, sorry for the derail!

Yeah same here, he was positioned worse than Bob :(

Again. Fucked by the dogs in the corner. Spend 10 minutes getting to the damn place to die in 2 hits

ah, Capra demon. the gift that keeps on giving.

There's a shortcut you can open up that should make getting to him a breeze, but fighting him and the camera? you're on your own there

Undead Burg, Undead Parish, The Depths, Drakeroot Garden, and Firelink Shrine all have good frame rate for me. Is it just Blight Town that is bad?

Wow. Contacted Amazon over an hour ago asking if they'd refund me the difference between the old price of the guide and the new price. I explained I knew they didn't have to but that I felt kind of duped for ordering while it was out of stock only to have it cut in price right as they charge me.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us about the recent price change on "Dark Souls The Official Guide." I recognize you have a choice of retailers and appreciate that you prefer to order from us. However, amazon.com do not offer a post order price guarantee.

But considering that you are a good and loyal customer since (2008) I am happy to make a one time exception from our standard policy and refund you the price difference of the item that you recently purchased.

I've refunded $11.25 the difference of the Amount paid and the current price, please refer on the following information:

Amount paid: $24.99
Current price: $13.74

You should see the refund in the next 2-3 business days.

Amazon is so ****ing awesome.

Blight is the worst I've seen so far and I'm on a PS3. I didn't notice it so bad once I got down into the bottom of the level, but on the way down it was horrendous is many spots. There's been a few other places here and there but they don't last long that I've had bad framerates effect me.

Anyone know how much more game there is after the
arrival at Anor Londo? That place kind of reeks of "final area" but I'm hoping not
...

Any powerful bows in the game? If so where are they? Not a hunter but wouldn't mind having one.

Most powerful bow I found was the Compound Bow so far stats are 55 physical and C/C for str/dex. I found it in
New Londo Ruins

Dont use lock on unless you have to during the Capra fight. It's easier to get up the stairs, turn around, and swing after blocking a pounce if you don't lock on.

Also, maybe try going human, there are often summon signs laying around that area.

yeah I wish I could do a Moon Winged Spear (Intelligence stat bonus)... dunno how to upgrade it the Winged spear in DkS :/

find the ember that allows you to "ascend" weapons to a magic path, make a winged spear +5 and then convert it over to a magic one. is my understanding anyway.

next time, go past the door to the demon and you can open up a shortcut to firelink shrine.

A quick question about upgrading since the wiki and faqs are pretty barren.

In De.S I had a divine halberd which granted regen. There was a limit on how much I could updade my halberd before upgrading it to divine (I belive). Does the same apply to Da.S? i.e. It grants regen and I should not upgrade it beyond a certain point?

WTF why is it like 45% off?

Buy message soap from the 1st merchant you find in Undead Burg for 100 souls.

I don't know about sixaxis, I just pick a taunt.

See above, the soap writes & rates messages.

You can't aim with the crossbow, it only locks on.
thanks. also, didnt mean to ask about messages twice, heh

Return to Firelink after ringing the bells:

Frampt is amazing. Is that Old King Doran's voice I hear!?

That render.

Are any areas in this game 'optional', or is it all required eventually?

No regen in this game (From felt it made the game too easy) but there is a weapon upgrade path you can take to get damage scaling based on faith.

Around 50% dude. Trust me, you'll be surprised to see how much left is opening up when you beat Anor Londo.

+5 from my understanding. Haven't confirmed as the best I have is a +4. But it was +5 in demon's souls. No idea if it grants regen though.

RE: Capra Demon fight.

I used some lightning powder I found before the fight. I applied it to either a short or broadsword, killed the dogs in one swipe. Stayed really close to Capra and circled him so he wouldn't use his jumping overhead attack. His two handed attack is the only worry at that point but he telegraphs it so you can roll away.

I've killed 5 black knights so far and not a single one has dropped a fucking sword or lance or anything. God damnit.
Did you have humanity when you killed them? I got a sword.

Damn so just beating Capra is like, what, 20% of the game? lol

Yeah that was my favorite so far by a wide margin except that damn framerate.

Just got this "stone greatsword" from those statue knights in the darkroot garden, it is damn near unstoppable. You can use that ability the statue knights have where it binds every enemy in the area so they can barely move. It could make a great PvP weapon for melee characters.

Also, I have not gone far into the area yet, but I can already tell the Catacombs are going to be an absolute Hellhole.

Haha, it's insane. It blew my mind when I realized how I've only had discovered such a small part of the game (when I originally thought I'd had beaten it soon).

FUCK. I WANNA PLAY THIS GAME. FUCK MY FINGER, IM GONNA GO CUT IT OFF OR SOMETHING.

So I got the
Soul of the Moonlight Butterfly
, how can I use it to make a unique weapon. Do I need to get the Weapon to +10? Then where do I go to make it, or can I do it at a bonfire or in my inventory.

Snapshot King said:
No...I haven't had any humanity on me in hours. I used to gain it for no reason, that stopped suddenly and I'm not sure why.
I think you gain it if you're actively killing stuff at a good pace but not dying.

What happens to the red dragon after the Capra fight is weird...

My guys feels very strong now. Like DS, the leveling and upgrading system in this game is confusing. I took a gamble on upgrading the wing spear, but it's worked out well. I've got it up to +7 and it does about 100 damage per thrust which is enough to take on just about every trash mob. One of the dark knights dropped a sword so I lvled up str/dex to use that and it's my boss/big mob killer.

What stat do you dump in once item reqs are taken care of? I was thinking of just pumping endurance...

Speaking of the Dark Knight Sword... when you're gonna Plunge attack an enemy, make sure to equip it solely for that. It does TONS of damage.
