In the Undead Burg there is a ring that increases defense when your health is low. Remember the area where there was a flaming barrel thrown at you? Well just before those stairs in the same area is another set of stairs leading down. It'll be on your right as you approach the stairs leading up.

Is that the place that is guarded by the Black Knight? He devastated me.

Is there a shortcut to
blightown
?

God I hate that place. It's basically the new world 5. The stupid
Gaping Dragon
broke my spear, so i had to fight the boss down there with my dagger, and of course I lost.

so im kinda disappointed in the stat weapon scaling compared to demons souls. feel like i wasted putting some many points into dex for my dex build when weapons with elemental effects do more damage.

wow the forest hunter covenant glitched on me and was broken. googled it and it turns out that ninja scrote suicided, causing the betrayal. supremely annoyed as i was having fun protecting the forest.

at least he dropped a boss ring

if I didn't have a headache and have to get up early tomorrow i'd play all night. I went into 1-3?
sens fortress
I guess you would call it. fucking amazing, i'd go into detail but this thread moves too fast anyway. but yea, so many hidden areas and nice loot [finally some good rings!]. i feel like im in the minority but i've been getting a lot of help from the messages on the ground, much more so than I ever did in DS1. I only made it part way through before hopping out, cant wait to get back in tomorrow

Totally beaten above!

There is one on a corpse in Undead Burg, there is a black knight standing in the way, but you can roll off the brige where those guys are throwing firebombs and onto a small balcony, you can't miss it if you look down. I think it boosts defence when HP is low.

You will have to fight the Black Knight either way, but doing it this way guarantees you'll get it.

Suicide run confirmed, thanks

Uh, Valley of Drakes. Is this a place I want to be?
Haha, you used the master key or something?

Does NOT having DS installed improve framerates in blight town on 360 because I'm willing to try deleting it, god damn.

I didn't have framerate issues, I really don't get the complaints here. It was a little buggy at worst.

After exploring the sewers some more, I came across some some shortcuts, figured my way around, and then got stomped by the boss haha. I got summoned by someone and we also got stomped by the boss together. It was fun though.

Damn this is good to know. I still have time to "correct" my stats, but I've been dumping into mostly DEX.

??????????????????????????????

Are you guys telling me the 360-version doesn't go to a crawl in Blighttown?

That is the one. He's tough but beatable; had to take him out at Lv.18 when he wouldn't bug off, and damn if I was about to lose my 3 precious humanity >:(

OMG YESSSSS, i got through and now i'm at the boss.
is it me or these 2 bosses resembles the nuclear bomb at WWII. One was a fatty and the other was the skinny one :). Anyways, i'm very happy that i got through. I died on my first attempt on the boss but i'll kill them eventually!

I need a key? I just realized the route I'm in leads there, not to the Great Hollow.

I CLEARED it. And I'm on PS3.

You crazy, brah.

I was having trouble with the framerate before but after Blighttown, the rest of the game feels silky smooth.

Are you aware of what frame rate is?

I mean frame rate drops are no big deal to me in this game as they've never happened in combat for me. However with that said I can't deny that I've dropped a whole lot of frames in places like Blight Town.

well i am just sl 45. so maybe it changes later but right now it seems dex has done nothing but let me use a couple weapons. I would of saved about 15 or so stat points if i new that

blighttown? shytetown more like.

5-1 and 5-2 are much worse. The swamp in Blighttown is maybe a 1/5 the size, and there's no gigantic tribesman with clubs.

And yes I had framerate issues, but I don't think it made the area unplayable.

Can't seem to beat this giant monster right after the black smith. His attacks are very easy to evade or block, but my weapon just isn't doing shit damage to him. I'm playing a thief with a dagger and I have never pulled a crit on him, which is weird because they're usually quite common for me.

also am i supposed to chop his tail off or something?

i hate those giant tribesman with a burning passion and 5-2 in general

lol there's a thread about the gaffer who claims he messed with his PS3 to the point of having better performance and textures. Is he your brother or something?

Yeah I'm way below you, only 23ish but I have like 22 DEX so far. I guess it has been relatively pointless for me already, considering I can one-shot almost anything that I can riposte. I may have to re-think my stat distribution. It already sucks trying to fight bosses with a dagger lol

I couldn't get into there, how did you? I just said hi to Quelaag's sis then GTFO'd.
How did you do that? The only thing I could find is the tentacle monster

the valley of defilement and blighttown hate in here is getting ridiculous. They are both my favorite parts of DS and DkS.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times in the thread but I couldn't find the answer in the last couple pages.

I rang the first bell, and have no idea where to go now. I went back to Firelink and assumed I was supposed to work my way through the cemetery to get to Blighttown, but that led to a place called the
catacombs
which really didn't seem like a place I was supposed to be at that time.

And a Black Phantom with a Meat Cleaver stalking the swamp. Still one of the most memorable things from the first. I liked 5-2. :P

blighttown is a breeze if you got iron ring and decent poison resistance
Picking up the shadow armor early was a good idea -- in my case. I didn't get poisoned until the swamp area.

ewww, the framerate in blight makes it less enjoyable than any other lvl so far in darksouls. VoD lvl 2 is just terrible. Hated it so much i just skipped half the loot on later play throughs.

I really love catacombs in DarkSouls though and that gets a lot of hate.

You can open the door on the Red Dragon bridge that leads to the Depths, right? Seems like that's where most have gone after ringing the first bell

if you head out through the undead church to where the blacksmith is, directly below him is a headless demon.

you can kill that demon or just run past him, but behind it is the entrance to the forest and forest basin. that's probably where you should be going. By no means should you be anywhere near the skeletons or the new londo ruins. why those two areas are directly adjacent to the starting point I have no idea

Because Firelink ultimately becomes what is basically the game's central hub.

Are you talking about the one with the huge silver knight at the bottom?

Alright, can someone help me out here and elaborate on where the shortcut back to Undead/Firelink is in the
Depths
? I'm sitting on a ton of souls here and I'd like to go back to Undead Burg and stock up on Firebombs and stuff before I go any further.

I'm at the (only?) bonfire down here, by the way.

Manmademan said:
you lose them. don't drop them, there's a method to exchange excess items later.

Ok, I heard if you drop them they turn into monsters in other people's worlds, but might give good loot to them.

BTW I got the Drake sword. But I'm too weak to hold it one handed (sorcerer):p
