how do you get to Great Hollow?
From the swamps of Blighttown, if you head left while staying on the bottom and hugging the left wall, there should be a branch you can walk up (you will see like 3 leeches on the base of the branch), you walk to the dead end and attack the wall and attack another wall behind the chest you discovered

The tragic thing is,
there can be more than four kings. A new one spawns about every 30 seconds no matter how many you've killed. If you've killed three and are on the fourth a fifth one is perfectly happy to spawn and gank you from behind. You can't take a breather just because you're on what should be, by all reasonable standards, the last of the four.

If you watch the life bars you'll also notice that the overall boss life bar doesn't directly correlate to the individual life bars of the kings. If you focus your attacks on one at a time the fourth king will still have HP left when the boss life bar depletes and the fight ends.

....Mother of God.

Well, I'll come back ten levels higher and with a maxed out Lightning Halberd I guess. If only I had like...20 Soul Spears...

ahhh... a new, fresh day for more DkS.

You'll never believe this shit. I just spent hours trying to beat Capra, fucking couldn't even get past him and was getting killed as soon as I went through the door. I took all my clothes of and ran fast as fuck past him, killed him in one try and barely got touched -_-

Nice! I just helped someone beat him, went to human form, and summoned my own help. Got him! Take that Carpa and your stupid dogs too!

I have heard its 10% of a persons level and scales a tiny bit the higher the level you are, or something weird like that.

Honestly warriors of sunlight should get special rules since there designed around helping people, and should be able to join anyone's game, kinda like how there is no level restriction with the forest shenanigans.

Helping me get the last 4 sunlight medals on his NG+ was the last thing he was going to do with that character because I guess he didn't like the way it ended up.

I was in Sens Fortress when I got summoned by (apparentely) a level 48. I was a lvl 64

Oh, and Rz_Ryu, if you read this, I hate you so much you cheating piece of shit.

I tend to stay light regardless of who i'm fighting. I've been utilizing the Uchigatana as a two-hander throughout the game. Been a very challenging experience.

There's some battles where I whip out the Havel's, Stone Armor or other similar armor and just go to town. If it's one of those battles where you need to do damage fast, or the boss doesn't move much, I GreatAxe them to death.

For other battles, I tend to poke them with my spear while hiding behind my shield.

There's definitely advantages to being light, but the damage output is so different. I might be able to do 200 - 250 damage during an opening with a lighter weapon, yet in that same opening I can do over 800 - 1000 damage with my GreatAxe - so the choice is usually obvious for me :P

Not really a cave,
When you freed Lautrec, did you remember to talk to him again to receive you reward? The caged cave was located in front of him along the wall.

One of them can be re ignited again, which is part of a side quest (only the Firelink one), The other NPC related one you attacked. Not much I can do for you and not sure if Requesting Absolution will work, but it is worth a try.

I do remember talking to him but the cave is a blur. I'll have to keep searching.

Felt totally badass this morning
Killed Quelaag, joined chaos covenent and got epic fireball, got my ring wraith on, slaughtered discharge on first try, went to where all the taurus demons were and kiled 2 at a time. and got my flame ember although had to suicide run it cos of the lava
+10 samurai sword is so badass. dont know whether to make it a flaming sword or just go to +15?

i got my falchion to + 5 is this a good weapon to turn divine for the catacombs?

This game is so ridiculously good. I must stop playing it. It's now 4:30am here!

Why did they have to make it so good? I haven't been able to play any other games lately.

It's addictive for sure. I haven't been able to go in another GAF-thread so I'm kinda hoping that my DkS-hype is reduced a bit so that I can explore other stuff too...

I helped someone beat him, but then waited around forever for someone to come into my game and never saw any summon signs. Will try again during prime time hours...

I know how you feel. This thread moves so damn fast that I don't have the time for anything else. In 32 hours my math exam will be over with. IT CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH. Meanwhile, I throw down my soul-sign and then solve some problems, before being summoned.

Should i turn my iaito+10 into a chaos blade? It's stats are weaker but i'm guessing a chaos blade+5 would be stronger. Does it scale with humanity?

I've been gaming with one hand for the past week. I started over as a caster (just like my original DS-character that I loved) so that I can play from a distance and not put pressure on my left hand. My finger is slowly healing I think, the infection exploded yesterday so...

Yep just lose some souls and humanity to the archers in anor londo. How am I supposed to get passed this? Right knight sword pushed me off.

Stop resisting the pain. Embrace it. Then you will be able to move on.

So, given that I used the fire keeper soul instead of upgrading my flask, are there any decent ways to find more? It's really bumming me out.

For my second character,
I decided to buy a bow and some poison arrows from the merchant in Undead Burg. You can stand on a specific spot (near the three white Gargoyles) and shoot the one on the right. He'll get poisoned... then you wait :lol

If you ever use spell for your build, Force spell will help in this matter.

If not, you will have to run straight all the way to the most right Archer, get close enough so that he switches to sword, you have to make sure your back is facing towards the wall. The knight suicides.

There are few places you can get them. If you used one up, while that sucks, you will have other opportunities to get more and reinforce your flask.

Scaling with humanity seems like a bad idea for a weapon IMO, unless you're really good and manage to carry a 09+ humanity count without fear.

I've gotten to +4 just finding them, sucks that you burned one though.

If you want to take the dickish route, everytime there's a firekeeper they have a soul. So if there's someone near a bonfire you don't need, kill them to upgrade your flask.

Oh, so Chaos scales with humanity? That's fucking stupid
and ballsy

My sorcerer stopped at 44 INT since that's what is required for the best spell. I might increase it more later when I finish my Enchanted Bandit's Knife if it continues to boost damage, otherwise I'm just going to push for 30 VIT and 30 END.

Run as fast as you can to the right knight so he gets his sword out and stops shooting you, then just kill him. Left archer should be blocked and won't shoot you.

Regarding a particularly annoying, but not at all threatening enemy in the Swamp of Blighttown:
is there really no way to stop those incessant flies from buzzing about? When I first saw them coming at me, I could see where they were spawning, and I thought surely, there would be some kind of monster to kill there to stop them. But all i found were a bunch of leeches.

They annoy the hell out of me, and I just want to stand and check out some items in Shiva's shop in peace

no way to stop them i think, at least not for my game. So i carry around a bow to shoot them down when they approach. It can be annoying yea, make sure you have adequate poison resistance.

Ooh, I was wondering what the soft-cap for INT was... I don't wanna push INT if it only increases oh-so-little :/ Currently I'm pumping vitality (I think I have 35 or something atm).

edit: Wiki doesn't help me. What's the spell that requires 44 INT?

Crystal Soul Spear I think. My Enchanted +1 Bandit's Knife is only C scaling for INT but by the time it's +5 it should be A scaling so my INT may make much more difference to the damage.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I already bought and can use that one and I'm at 31 INT <,<

edit: Ah fuck, nevermind. It was the regular Soul Spear which I don't use anyway... I hate spells with low amounts of usages and I take it Crystal Soul Spear can only be used like... what, once? Twice?

Damn, this game is truly amazing :O

I haven't experienced such strong feelings of awe, amazement, wonder, dread, despair and triumph since... ever.

Even gameplay aside, the world, enemy and level designs on display here are gaming craftsmanship at its very finest. Every single enemy feels like it's been a labour of love, every single area has been created with a clear vision, and evey item and enemy placed within have a clear intention.

Also, the world is fucking huge (lemme just check this narrow opening here in case there's some treasure. Holy shit I just discovered a whole new area to explore). There's no lazy "walk across an empty, randomly generated terrain for 10 minutes to create a feeling of size" bullshit here either. The world is dense with treasure, imaginative monsters, traps, interconnecting rooms, locked doors, beautiful environments, and just pure gaming bliss throughout ("since we don't need to cater to the casuals, we can do whatever the fuck we want, so I'll just place this huge Knight here. Enjoy"). The world really comes across as totally believable because of this as well: there's no explanation given for most of the monsters or bosses you encounter, so you let the environment, music and your imagination fill in the blanks instead.

If they only fix the framerate issues in Blight Town, this will easily be The Best Game Ever.

Fucking incredible.

I want to do this, I do, but maybe you could ask him to stop knocking me off when he pulls out his sword? A gentleman's agreement or something. ='(

4 times.

On the bright side, really high INT makes you more curse resistant.

I agreed with:

Then I came to the Lost Izalith which was made by an intern at From.

Looks like I'm done for the night. Can't get help beating Anor Londo boss and this is hilariously impossible for me to do alone.

So what is everybody's vitality at? I'm at 22 and I'm attempting the crystal cave which normally ends with me getting two shotted even with heavy armor. Time to go farm some levels I guess?

Also Smough's hammer is hilarious. I love being invaded only to flatten my invader in one blow.

I was getting a lot of multiplayer action earlier today. Lost of covenant, fought Anor Londo boss with full party about 10 times and we got invaded.

I ran like a bitch when he pulled the sword out back to the narrow middle area, and he died chasing me. Try that. :P

Thats the only place in the game summons seem to work because everybody is looking for help with that boss. Go human and summon some help, the boss is trivial with two good phantoms with you.

edit: n/m mistake.

I know, I beat it 3 times today but never in my world.

had to spend like several humanity for help lol got invaded twice :|

Hitting a tiny, invisible wall
(the Great Hollow entrance)
and realizing I just found an enormous hidden level was seriously like some Alice in Wonderland shit. The first time I found it, I remember saying out loud "wait what, is this for real...?" It's ridiculously massive, yet hidden basically in a random location, in a random hole in the wall, in a completely unassuming crack....in a tree? I mean, wtf? Amazing. They don't make gaming moments like this in modern gaming anymore.

Definitely will be remembered as one of my all time inspiring gaming moments. I will play this game on and off for years.

Ok guys, moment of truth time. I've got the Titanite Slab, and a +4 Lightning Halberd. If I use the slab (possibly only one per
playthrough?
I can go from 286 physical to 302 physical, and from 291 lightning to 308 lightning.

In other words, a combined additional damage of 33. Worth it, considering how rare the slab is?

Is there anything else I need the slab to upgrade, or is it only used on lightning weapons?

Wow. I'm in almost exactly the same situation as you. I await the answers with bated breath.
