Errr no you can'tchoose the souvenier as a gift, but you can find the pendant late in the game. There does not seem to be any way to use the pendant, and i've finished the game with it as the starting gift. People saying you give the pendant to Priscilla when you have high humanity is bullshit.
Oh I am misremembering then. egg on my back. Cheers for facts, Imma trade that ish.

What happens if you're in a covenant and join a different one? Are there any negative consequences? Is it considered a "sin" against your old covenant?

Yup. Gotta pay Jesus to forgive you.

This is actually better than returning to that bonfire.
Like you I managed to reach this bonfire without dying but I regret it. I was dying a lot after that and I wish I could make it back to the surface.
I am level 22 so I guess I am underleveled. But if I want to level up, I have to get out of here first. I already lost more than 60k souls or so. Really frustrating.

I felt the same way, I was trapped there for three days till I finally found the bonfire at the bottom... which then I was stuck there for a day before realizing what was just across the swamp from me the whole time, I did go from 23-29 though ... slowly. Eff those trolls btw..

I adore this game though, the moment I broke out it was such a great feeling of discovery. Then locating
the discharge lava monster
and thinking I was about to beat the game to realize I'm maybe 1/3 through the game as there are areas off Firelink I know of and never went into.

Well, you can do the forest. Lots of stuff to do in that place. You can also go to New Londo Ruins, but I don't recommend that area just yet.

The_Darkest_Red said:
Not yet. It's okay though, Blighttown will make you stronger! Develop that resolve.

Abooie said:
No, not really.

If it's any consolation I finished Blighttown today without too much pain in the grand scheme and it's a great feeling when it's done.

Ok. Considering i'm at the first bonfire there I guess I'll power through.

I think you need to pay to forgive your sins, 2k souls per SL.

Then you can rejoin. Any progress you made with your old covenant will be cut in half. So for example if you turned in 10 medallions in Way of White, then left and came back, it would have recorded that you only turned in 5.

are some more forgiving than others? I joined the way of white when I first started, then switched to the forest one when I was offered it. The monk is currently only repeating a questline dialog about his lady, will he be pissy with me once that is through? ;-/

When you arrive at Asylum, there is a nest on your left. Go on the nest, and drop an item in the nest. If the crow doesn't say anything, that means you can get something for it.

Current known list of possible trades:

Bloodred Moss Clump ---> Twinkling Titanite
Blooming Purple Moss Clump ---> Twinkling Titanite x2
Cracked Red Eye Orb ---> Purging Stone x2
Dried Finger ---> Blue Titanite Chunk
Dung Pie ---> Demon Titanite
Egg Vermifuge ---> Dragon Scale
Humanity ---> Ring of Sacrifice
Pendant ---> Souvenir or Reprisal
Prism Stone ---> Demon Titanite
Pyromancy Flame ---> Red Titanite Chunk
Pyromancy Flame ---> Red Titanite Slab
Purple Moss Clump ---> Twinkling Titanite
Rubbish ---> Titanite Chunk
Ring of the Sun Princess ---> Divine Blessing x2
Sack ---> Demon's Great Hammer
Skull Lantern ---> Ring of Fog
Sunlight Maggot ---> Old Witch's Ring
Sunlight Medal ---> White Titanite Chunk
Twin Humanities ---> Rare Ring of Sacrifice
Xanthous Crown ---> Ring of Favor and Protection

read something about having to log out after droping something in? true?
or just go to the nest drop shit and get it ?

It doesn't appear right away, so the fastest way is to quit game, then load it back up.

Drop the item in the nest, go to your menu and quit the game. Load your save, and bam, item is there.

Two new questions:

I just noticed there are unique summon signs. One was saying summon a Dragon something or another, and it wasn't a person. What do these do?

Second question is in Anor Londo I beat the boss/es, but was curious if anyone managed to tackle that boss with defeating the hammer guy ? I tried that route but he was shit nuts hard, so I had to opt to kill the smaller spear guy after the hammer guy to get the spear guys soul.

Oh and I guess a third question is about this bsmith here. Will he be available all game, and is he the one I need to upgrade my shields to +10 ?

Drop the item in the middle of the nest, log out from the menu, then go back in. The crow girl will say something and the new item will be there.

Dragon sign is part of the Dragon Covenant. Basically, a player part of that covenant wants to duel you for a Dragon Scale.

I'm gonna guess that you found one of the dueling signs that path of the dragon members drop down. If you had used it, it would have brought him into your world and you'd get to fight for a dragon scale. Nobody loses anything though afaik.

That's funny, because everyone else I've talked to says that ornstein (the spear guy) is 10 times harder to kill second.

You could buy something from him that lets you do your own upgrades, if you want. You just can't 'ascend' weapons past thresholds without visiting him. And yes he'll always be there - there's a few others in the world as well. I believe four in total.

Where do I find the first boss you mentioned and afterwards the second?

For the first Boss, Capra Demon, you need the Basement key. This is a key that is behind the closed gate at Undead Parish after you beat the Armored Boar. You just have to go out the other exit in the church and down the steps and its there on a body. Once you get that key, you want to go back to the bridge with the dragon. Do you remember where the Sun Knight NPC is that you met? So if you were heading down the bridge away from the dragon and towards that NPC, there is a door on your left that is locked. The basement key opens it.

Once you are in the lower levels, the first thing you should do is go up the stairs to your right. This will lead to a shortcut in Undead Burg so you can open the door and use the bonfire there; then just head back down to the lower levels again. There is nothing to the lower levels, it's very short basically only a single direction to go** with the boss at the end of the ally. When you kill him, you get the key to the depths (sewers).

The sewer entrance is right down the stairs from the boss you just killed behind a locked door. Head on in and enjoy. (You can save yourself a lot of trouble by buying some decursing items beforehand from the vendor in the sewers).

** Bit of a lie: if you go RIGHT after going down the first set of stairs you can find a locked door (Undead Berg merchant sells the key) that releases the advanced spell trainer. If you are a sorcerer, this is huge, if melee only you may not care.

can i wake the sleeping
teethdrake in firelink somehow? hit him or what? i don't want to break the game.
I just hit him to wake him up. lol I used to warp back and forth till I got fed up, but yeah it doesn't break the game.

I'm done. I literally cannot get pass these archers and I'm not having fun getting back to them. Those lightning bat things aren't fun even with their attack patterns and a lightning resist shield. Giant harpoon archers on this one walkway isn't challenging or fun, it's cheap and shitty. Which is a shame because I absolutely love everything else so far.

Man. I don't even know where to begin. I tackled all of Anor Londo today, including the Painted World, and omg, what a ride. Really, really satisfying to finally see my character being able to tackle all the heavy combat throughout and come up tops. While Sen's Fortress was a challenge of careful navigation and alertness on the environment, Anor Londo is a test of your combat ability against enemies of various combat types.

For the final push against the boss, I actually spent 3 humanity because I wanted to summon help to make the boss fight more even. The first time, I got invaded by a fucker, and I got killed because he could read my spell casting moves really well, and I made a stupid attempt to attack him on melee and he one-shotted me on my recovery animation. The second time,
after taking out the fat hammer dude, the giant dragon knight somehow killed BOTH my phantoms, and then came at me when I had no spells left. ARGH!
The third time, one of the phantoms I summoned was actually one of the guys who died in the last battle, so that was pretty cool. The second guy was different, but this time we fucked the boss up and won.
I took out the dragon knight first this time, solo, while both my phantoms were distracting the fat hammer dude. Turned out much better because when the fat hammer dude powers up, he still sucks lol.

So now I have the LORDVESSAL and with it
I can warp between bonfires! WOO HOO!
I wonder how much more game there is after this...

The key is to just get behind him as soon as possible, then do whatever you can to stay there. His red-energy attack will almost never hit you if you are behind him, but it fucks you up if in front. Just watch for his jumping attack, it 1-hit me.

He's extremely easy if you play it like this, ranged or melee.

Had a very similar experience to this yesterday. I was sort of starting to lose my direction in the game, Blighttown sucked, the forest seemed aimless. But Sen's and Anor Londo are two of my favorite zones in the game now. Beating the duo in Anor Londo solo has been the defining experience of this game so far. I though it was impossible for about 35 tries, then my last 5 tries it all started coming together, and on my successful run I got hit maybe 2 times. Glorious.

Fuck Painted World. Way too many mobs. I've not made any shortcuts back to the first bonfire either. Got into the sewers (ITS ALWAYS SKELETONS WHY), got an annex key, so maybe that'll help me out but hnnnnghhh.

lol yeah that's the strategy you want to do playing solo as well, take out dragonslayer cuz fatty sucks regardless of lightning.

Also you have plenty of game left depending on how good you are. I steam-rolled through the final handful of bosses and it still took a decent amount of time. But you're nearing the home stretch. Of course that also depends on whether or not you skipped on other stuff that you want to do now, then there is lots more.

in the big room before the boss, climb up the stairs and jump out the broken window. Climb down the steps and from there jump/roll over the fence below you.

Right at the end in the big hallway before the boss fog, go all the way up the stairs and go to the broken window at the side where the entrance door would be below. Go out of the window, and go down the blocks, until you can fall back down outside to the area where there is a door that can only be opened from this side. Beat the bat spear thing, open the door to open the shortcut back out. The blacksmith is in the doorway next to where that bat spear thing was.

wait, so did you
get into the open area with the spear blobby guys? Just open the big door there back to the bonfire. You must have just skipped doing that if you got the annex key.

Ornstein and Smough
are really messing me up. I've tried like 15 or 20 times. I almost killed them both a couple of times. I guess it's my fault since I don't want to summon anyone.

darkwood grain ring + dragonslayer first. I've said it a bunch of times to people in your situation, because I was in that situation too. I had no humanity left, took me a shit load of tries till I realized those 2 things were needed for me, then it just clicked and wasn't so bad.

I personally wouldn't even do that. Just
take the stairs to your right before you reach the broken window, and just keep going down
. Both myself and phantoms I've summoned have died trying the other path.

I actually prefer the opposite approach myself.
You can kill Smough so quickly with the lightning spear that I just berserk against him to kill one of them asap and knock it down to a 1v1. Sure, Giant Ornstein is tough but his moves are also very predictable and trivial to dodge once you learn all his moves. The most unintuitive one being his lightning impale move where you should roll *into* him and not away.

I'm right there with you, man. That was the hardest boss fight I've ever experienced in either Souls game, in large part due to my stubborn desire to solo it. When I was done I just stood up with my arms in the air and a smile on my face for a good minute straight while my wife looked at me like I was crazy.

Isn't there a one-way door blocking your path if you go that way? I thought you had to take the path I listed once to unlock the way to go.

maybe you're just better at that fight but most people can easily beat fatty second, I can do it without ever being touched and rather effortlessly. Everything he does is easy to avoid as well. For people having trouble I can't recommend your way, lol. But if you thought it was easy then props to you.

I don't believe there is. I've never actually been able to go the other way (never been able to make it over the fence). So, I suppose not.

So, for those of you PvP'ing - especially if you didn't play Demon's Souls - here's some tips.

1. Don't clam up and expect to be able to absorb every blow. It doesn't matter what armor/shield you're using if the enemy drains all of your stamina to the point where you become staggered. Like with bosses you want to be hit as little as possible - don't forget that you have other moves like kick, jump back, a roller and shield slam or parry.

2. Assume that every invader is going to go for a backstab. If they get too close to you, jump back and attack - or simply roll away if you're light enough. You can even shield bash them to knock them back. You don't want to play the circle game (where they're running around you in circles with you locked on and trying to get a hit in) as they will probably eventually get a backstab in. Think of it this way - this is exactly what the AI does in the game when you circle around it, and look how easy that is most of the time. Don't play like the AI :P

3. Have a plan, and don't rely on a single weapon. If you expect to be PvPing (i.e. you're invading, or waiting to be invaded) then ensure that you have a set of equipment that will compliment one another's strengths. For example, I use a lightning spear and a fire Server - the spear gives me range, as well as lets me play on the defensive. The Server is used when they're trying to roll around me, or get in a backstab when they get up close as that has a very unique and wide slashing motion.

Another example: Using the special ability on the Stone Greatsword to restrict their running ability so that they can only walk for about 15 - 20 seconds. I then lay into them with my Dragon King's GreatAxe as they cannot run away from it, and blocking it will only stagger them - so either way, I win.

There's plenty of players better than me, and who do defeat me, but these are things I learned in Demon's Souls which still apply in Dark Souls.

I guess. In my opinion any kind of 2v1 situation is waaaaay harder than 1v1. So for me the easiest path is to end the 2v1 as quickly as possible.

Interesting. The Demon's Souls character that I hated the most happens to be the one who gets a cameo!
GEE THANKS PATCHES FOR KICKING ME INTO A PIT OF SKELETON MONSTERS. Even though he inadvertently led me straight to the one item that will make the Tomb of Giants infinitely more bearable, I swear I'm going to kill that fucking prick when I get back there. Again.

So last night I beat
Nico
on my second try... I think I may have found what is broken in PvE. Cuz I used it to beat
Seath
on my second try and
The Four Kings
in under ten.

I'm sitting at 60+ hours and only have one more lord soul and the final left. I think when I'm done I'm going to roll a new character and do things similar but in a more perfect fashion. I have 48 Dex that is COMPLETELY useless to me. Str is useless too with the way I've been playing. Because Lightning and Fire don't scale with stats they deal a ton of damage and you don't even need to boost the damage based stats.

Oh and since I feel betrayed by my
Blade of the Darkmoon
covenant (my net connection won't let me use the blue eye orb ever and the ring has only triggered twice), I am joining the
Darkwraiths
when I start a new game. 360 players beware. And plus most PvP is happening around level 50 and I'm sitting at 70+ right now.
