Alright, I'm getting ready to head to Blighttown for the first time. Let's see what all the fuss is about.

Also, am I the only one who didn't have a problem with the frogs/rats in the Depths? I remember seeing a bunch of people were trying to avoid them like the plague, but I was able to take them out pretty easily

as long as you don't fall in the hole they are alright

Any other differences? Item and enemy placement? What do you start off with? Anything?

once you finish the game, you are sent straight to the assylum
everything in your inventory gets carried over except for the key section (bottomless box gets carried over)
your level, souls and equipped gear are carried over.
enemies stats are boosted by 40% (so they have better def, hp, block rate, damage)

enemy placement are all the same

Questions about NG+

- Do any shortcuts you triggered remain active?
- Do any bonfires you lit / kindled remain lit / kindled?
- Do you keep your reinforced Estus Flasks?
- Can you get multiple of the same unique items on a subsequent run? (For example can I end up with 2 Covetous Gold Serpent Rings, one for each finger?)

I understand that in some games, a couple of maps are designed for melee, some are designed for casters and occasionally they are designed for both. Tomb of Giants needs you to take it super slowly, which is fine by all means. But when they decide to put giant skeletons that are incredibly hard to defeat even without the darkness and cheap deaths, it just makes it pure frustrating and nothing else. I'm doing this as a 80% magician and although I've barely given the stage many tries (the backtracking is ridiculously long), I do feel right away that this isn't designed for a caster. I'm supposed to kite and have map control. Those two are non-existent in the Tomb of Giants. It also doesn't help that I feel the need to take every loot I can find, which makes it even more impossible.

there is a spell called illuminate or so, look it up

right now i get one humanity 'cause i beat the iron golem as a phantom, but from there go to the falò is not so easy. =|
i hope that cage goes down once i've used it, if it stays over there it's pretty useless, only for one time.

Awesome. I'm guessing you aren't at the Catacombs yet, but I'm curious if you get another Secret Rite that lets you kindle bonfires even further.

You should have passed right through a room with two cages over a square hole in the center. It's very close to the room with the fog that leads to the boss. If you take one of the cages down then there will always be one there waiting for you when you come back.

Stay behind him.

I am well beyond the fortress, but I've made nearly 50 fucking trips through that dungeon, I thought that the design was intentionally this way. fml

secret rite is under key section so that doesnt get carried over

Having trouble getting ANY titanite slabs, the wiki is either wrong or the drop rate is beyond terrible, farming with 6 humanity and the serpent ring. Any suggestions?

The Tomb of Giants is starting to get to me. My
lightning weapon
worked on the
skeletons, killing them permanently
for the entire Tomb of Giants, but now it doesn't work during the boss fight. Makes the boss so much more difficult, because as we all know, fighting a
lot of things
is more difficult than fighting
one thing
. This is even more true when your
weapon suddenly won't make enemies permanently die, even though it had been

Also, me not
being able to see
isn't a good game mechanic. That is all :P

Yes I have the lantern. Yes, I have the spell. I still can't see very well

I did the same thing... I just so happened to notice the "press x" prompt pop up on one of my trips... It was bittersweet.

kill the skeletons first by using a divine weapon and use your other weapon on nito

THE GUILTY SHALL BE PUNISHED.

That Lautrec fight was a lot easier once you figure out how to aggro only his cronies

I'm pretty sure once you've used it once it is a permanent 2-way shortcut

That fool met the business end of my Black Knight Halberd, and it pleased me. I didn't even kill the guy with the spear.

Yo 1st strike for all those people running around with 50+ humanity are they getting that legitly through say PvP and items, or is that number pretty unreasonable meaning they probably glitched the item. Because there are a ton of PvPers in the Book of the Guilty that are running massive amounts of humanity.
99% sure they're all using the dragon stone cheat.

You misunderstood what was going on with the enemies. Your lightning weapon as never doing anything special. There are two ways to do what you want
1.
use a divine weapon. Only divine will work
2.
kill the caster that is reviving them. Once dead they stay dead. you probably did this and thought it was your lightning weapon

How's the HP drain effect on the Server? I'm going for a greatsword-wielding magician for my second character, and I'm trying to decide between rolling with that or the Zweihander for my main weapon.

Get ahold of a Divine Weapon. :P Will kill the skeletons during the bossfight, and make them stay stead.

Crank the brightness in game and on your TV. You'll see better. Crank it back down after your done?

Okay i got the weirdest thing.

I wanted to get the
havel ring
so i attacked the guy who has it, and i tried multiple times (its kinda hard) anyway after a while i ran out the tower with him following me, i accidently rolled off the cliff, and he followed me.

Soo i respawned, and i hoped he was back, but he wasnt...and neither was the item....

Anything i can do ? or is is it just gone forever.

- i tried quitting the game and restarting etc.

He's something like a mini-boss, and once he's dead he is not coming back. The item rolled off with him.

It's gone then. And so is his item. Sorry.

At least he'll be back for NG+.

Just beat it.

Thanks for the good game From, will look forward to the next one. With lower expectations, obviously.

I'm being a lot more diligent about talking to people my second time through, and I noticed that
Lautrec has a line about how he can't stand Patches, and if he sees him again he's going to have his hide.

I wonder if he'll actually act on that. It would require
going to the Tomb of Giants before ringing the second bell
to find out, which sounds annoying but entirely possible.

what's with the strange golem in the
darkwood area? i freed the npc and she just disappeared without leaving anything. i said yes when she asked, she thanked me and went away.

Xanathus said:
I'm very sure that I tried that, and hitting any of them causes ALL of them to aggro you. Were you wearing the Fog Ring?

Nope. I did snipe the caster from where you spawn and he didn't aggro, so I moved up a bit. It's worth trying since there really isn't any consequence to losing in that fight besides human form if you die.

lvl 50 where do I go to help people. I don't seem to get summoned much in AL.

I think I'm level 46 and I was miraculously able to summon some people.

I saw signs all across the first bridge once you exit the elevator, and at the foot of the staircase leading up to the giant door.

Maybe I just got lucky. Took me a while to get summoning to work though (so many "summoning failed" messages).

One thing I'll say for sure is THANK GOD they hotfixed the online because mother of God was it bad the first 2 days... now it's almost completely fixed (except for the few disconnections here and there).

The golden barriers block you from getting into the tomb prior to having the lord's vessel? I never actually saw where the barrier there is. Is it before or after patches?

I'm done. I literally cannot get pass these archers and I'm not having fun getting back to them. Those lightning bat things aren't fun even with their attack patterns and a lightning resist shield. Giant harpoon archers on this one walkway isn't challenging or fun, it's cheap and shitty. Which is a shame because I absolutely love everything else so far.

Try using the miracle "Force" to push them off the edge.

I'm still having trouble here... I think it's working slightly better but I wouldn't call it "fixed".

I didn't go there until
after getting the Lordvessel, but I'm almost positive that the gate is near the end. The entire area is wide open between Pinwheel and Patches, so it's not like there's really any place that the gate could be placed.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. The
Catacombs
ain't so bad, really, and there's really only
one giant skeleton to deal with between Pinwheel and the first bonfire.
