lol I just killed Pinwheel in two seconds with the Furysword +4. :/ Did that zone a bit late I guess, gear-wise.

I'm pretty sure he's just really easy no matter what. I did the same thing. What's behind him though, that's not good. :P

Yeah, he took about 4 hits from my lightning axe. I have yet to read a single person say anything about dying on Pinwheel, I don't even know what he can do.

Finally tried some coop in this game, seems to make most encounters a ton more easier. Fun though :).

How common is invading? I have yet to see anyone like that yet.

Can summons hit the ghosts? Or do you just run like hell via the shortcut and skip every mob on the way?

People just skip the mobs because the boss fog is only 20 seconds away at most.

@ People having trouble with Capra Demon:

What's your soul level? I killed him on first try and need to assist people for Sun Covenant. I'm SL 32.

I watched a video where someone that was a really low soul level fought Pinwheel. He creates multiple copies of himself, shoots some green balls around, etc. It's very reminiscent to the fight in Demon's Souls in the
church where the chick teleports around
but a shit ton easier. You don't need to hide or anything - just run up to him and poke him to death. He's 100% magic, so if you keep stabbing him he becomes interrupted and can't do anything.

This was either a major miscalculation on From's part, or they expected people to into that fight at a lower SL so they didn't make him as difficult as other bosses in the game - as it's quite possible that others will wander into there instead of going towards the gargoyles on the first playthrough.

just hope the one invading doesn't have the fog ring

It's pretty weird because what usually happens(as evidence of about 3042342 posts in this thread) is people go to the graveyard, get their ass kicked by the skeletons, and don't come back until after they've rung both bells. I personally didn't even do the catacombs until I cleared Anor Londo and New Londo Ruins.

YES!!!

Finally got that son of a bitch and beat the game. Ah man, that was a rush
having those parry attacks connect one after another
. I almost slipped at the end but I managed to get the victory.

As for the ending
I went with the Dark Lord ending. Seemed a lot more satisfying to me especially after seeing how the 'good' ending goes.
I still have to collect my thoughts on this game but man, this was an experience. Overall this was an amazing game but as i've said before there was a few things here and there keeping it from being a perfect Action-RPG. It's everything I wanted in a Demon's Souls sequel and more. Awesomely designed boss fights, a very realized and detailed world, more armor and loot, improvements (more or less) on the combat system, etc. From Software did a great job with this game but I kinda wish they spent another month or two dealing with all the glitches and exploits. I dunno if that's From's responsiblity or if Namco-Bandai are to blame. Either way, this game is definitely gonna be somewhere on my top list of games for 2011.

And yeah Lost Izalith still sucks.

Fuck the capra demon. Anyone have some tips? I'm kinda losing it here, I walk through the door and WHAM.

This is what I did. It worked every time.

When you walk through the mist and he comes at you, just don't move -- stand there a second. Right when he pulls back to hit you with a sword swing, immediately roll under the attack and run for the stairs while trying to avoid the dogs. Get up the stairs and separate the dogs from him as quickly as possible. Drop from the top of the stairs, then immediately take those dogs out one at a time.

You can then simply keep your shield up--at all times--and circle him. Keep a decent distance with your shield up until he swings, then walk in and get a few hits off. Walk back, keep your shield up, keep drinking estus as needed, and keep picking away at his health using this tactic. Once the fucking dogs are dead, the rest of the fight is just keeping your shield up, drinking estus, and picking away at him bit by bit.

This fight is a load of luck, and a lot of bullshit and failed game design.

Any alternate route out of Blighttown?

For what it's worth, I entered through the Sewers, beat
Quelaag,
but I'd much rather just leave this place than continue on to the Demon Ruins or whatever they're called. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay,
Stray Demon
is the cheapest freaking boss I've ever seen.

You learn absolutely nothing about fighting him. Fighting close gets you killed. Running away gets you killed. Standing in front of him gets you killed. Standing too closely behind him gets you killed. His weapon follows rolls. His shockwaves take up half the room. He's enormous but he's also very fast. He hits right through your shield whether you're level 10 or 54 (like me).

There is no strategy to this guy aside from just pure tedium, hoping he doesn't turn around faster than you can cut up his tail.

Skip to the Stray Demon and listen to how he learns from every encounter.

I visited him at a higher soul level and beat him on my first try. His area of effect attack is completely blockable (you take minor damage) and his melee attacks are also blockable, providing you have passable Endurance and a good shield with magic (or was it fire?) defense. If you have the Crest Shield or the Dragon Crest Shield, try one of those.

As long as you can block his AoE attack, you will be able to beat this easy boss.

On a side note, woooooo I killed Ceaseless Discharge without the need to cheese him!

He's actually ok once you get him in a pattern. I died so many times it was ridiculous, before I managed, though. Just need to keep strafing / rolling to his side and when he goes for the shockwave attack, get to his back and leave some room, then get in close and hit him a bit. Rinse repeat. You'll get there.

Haha I get so lost and go exploring in places a level 7 shouldn't go.

I saw that the butterfly is an optional boss in a stream and I ran into it while running away from the plant enemies and those two huge knights. Bffgjkggjkug one shot from the butterfly and I was RIP.
ah yeah, before that , I ran past the monster on his knee

Dcjkyfbkugg always blows my mind how games can connect each location , awesome yet :/ haha.

Whelp I'm stuck on the right path.
the gargoyle on the roof just kills me instantly, but then I had the special guy help a bit, but then the second gargoyle came and murdered us both

This fight will take a while to beat :P

Today was a good day for me. Beat gargoyles and Capra.

Killed Capra on my second try, too. I honestly don't get why people think it's so hard. It's painfully easy to cheese it with plunging attacks. I'm surprised it got such hype. I was a little disappointed by how easy it was.

I have a +5 Elite Knight set, +5 Knight Shield near 30 strength and endurance.

If I'm supposed to be blocking this guy, then I just need to find some better equipment.

I can stagger damn near anything in this game.

level 7? level up a bit first and explore Undead Burg

I wish I had more than three charges for Wrath of the Gods because it's amazing.

Priscilla? Whatever
Silver Knight Archers? Might as well be dreglings.
Smough & Ornstein? Pushovers

Wrath has made Anor Lando a cakewalk.

Knight set is better than Elite Knight set.

Anyways to fight him you (or at least I)
Always stay behind him as he moves as in be moving in a direction that will put you behind him and if you get in front of him move out of range of the shockwave and then run behind him when he does a move that will stagger him for a short period like a butt flop or an overhead strike. Figure out the range on the blast behind him and use it to move out until the blastwave is done then move in and hit him as you have a few second window to get in a strike or two after he does it. He's easy from behind but will kill you easily from the front.

lol wtf you skipped to tomb of giants before going to anor?

Just woke up and noticed that DSP finished Dark Souls... as in, rage-quit. I knew he wouldn't beat the game. Oh well.

What about Capra is giving you trouble?

Being under 50% equip weight and sprinting to the stairs at the start of the fight is really that hard? Man wonder how you would feel
fighting 3 to 5 at a time later in the game

The guy couldn't even figure out that L ment your left hand and R was your right hand and he was already into the forest area. Of course he quit the damn game.

I stumbled my way through the Catacombs killed the easiest boss in the game got kicked down a hole saved
Rhea
and ran away from that horrible place.

It's not him, it's his stupid ass dogs. Sprinting to the stairs is a fucking blind luck. I can easily roll past his attacks but it's a crap shoot to whether his dogs don't fuck me over before I get to the stairs.

There is an easy strat...
didn't even need any fire protection. Just strafe behind him when he winds up for the big explosion back up hold your shield and then go up to him and hit him once with u r stronget attack, rince and repeat. Beat him pretty easy after a few tries.

Maybe people just go there too early? I beat him on my second try, level 21.
Thanks to my good shield and that staircase, I guess. I just lured him to the end of the room and ran up the stairs to drop-attack him a few times and run up again. I just had to be careful to wait for his attack...All a matter of timing. I finished him in some good melee battle, yesss!
Actually he was one of the bosses I had the least problems with. I didn't even notice his dogs at first because I killed them both with one slash in his direction, both times :D

I don't know why but I can't talk to the dude with eggs on his back anymore, so I can't upgrade my Flame further. :( The "Talk" prompt is there but it doesn't do anything. I never hit him, so I don't get it. Glitch?

I hope you're not talking about the Butterfly. Everyone here is having their way with that thing and it killed me like 6 times and I had to make a
return trip to the asylum
just to get the crest shield because I'm so terrible at dodging it's beams.

haha no I'm not, it's a crazy looking boss. that is all im gonna say

george_us said:
It actually kind of is.

I've played through that fight with 4 different characters already. Over the course of them I died a total of once.

1st was a cleric
2nd was my non fucked up stats cleric
3rd was a thief
and 4th was a Sorc.

The only time anything throws you off in that fight is the fucking dogs charging you the very very first time. After you already know what to expect, it's not an issue.

WTF is this bullshit?

I work my ass off to kill that taurus demon only to then keep getting killed by that dragon thats close by with the enemies on the bridge.

When I get close it keeps killing me.

I beat him at SL 17. The key really is
just doing plunge attacks over and over from the top of the stairs. The dogs can be a giant fucking problem if you don't know where to attack him from, but once you realize that sitting on the ledge and ganking his dogs is as easy as it is, you can just plunge attack him over and over, and he really doesn't recover quickly enough to hit you before you go back up the stairs. Even if he follows you up, he really can't touch you for long enough before he just falls off, and you can plunge attack.

Did you play Demon's Souls? This dragon has a very similar tactic.

Sprint across that bridge and there is some stairs on the right that you can go down.

I just sprint forward like a jack ass and eat one flame breath before heading down :D

*dont have your shield up that will kill you*

Capra Demon
is going to be so much fun :)
Just make it fall off the stairs, he has a really long ass stagger animation that's how I beat him the first time.

That's the tactic!

(though you can totally sprint in full Knight armor to the stairs without getting hit. I've done it several times)

So as soon as i get down to the bridge just run towards the zombies and the dragon, let the first fire blast hit me and keep going?

haha are you referring to 1-4 blue dragon? cause the red in 1-1 you could make leave xD

The red in this feels like his fire breath speed is damn near random.

and yes that's the tactic

It shouldn't hit you, actually, but yeah, if it hits you, get up and keep going.

Yeah, he's way more annoying than the red dragon in 1-1, because you get hiding spots in Demon's Souls. But yeah, it's SIMILAR.

Plus, you don't really want him to leave until you've passed that bridge....if you know what I mean. ;D
