Fuck the 1-4 dragon.

So as soon as i get down to the bridge just run towards the zombies and the dragon, let the first fire blast hit me and keep going?

Run down the right side. You'll see a staircase to go down.

Sometimes he doesn't breathe fire fast enough and you won't take a hit. Even if he does just keep booking it.

Clearly the dude already had that since he was spewing out fire every 2 seconds.

I kinda miss a few of the mobs from demon souls. Mostly the giant retarded zombies :D and the jailkeepers.

How far have you gotten? You just have to take your time and pull one enemy at a time and don't hesitate to use a bow to take down ones that shoot/throw stuff at you or to pull one enemy out of a group. Also, always have that shield up for the surprise enemies.

Yeah, I really appreciate the advice. I have a short attention span, and I'm not used to games considering each and every enemy as kind of a boss fight..
I exhaled, relaxed my shoulders, took my time, tried to rake up a few souls, bought a bow, leveled up a couple of levels.
And yes; It feels a lot smoother now, and I feel that I have a certain level of control..

Still not happy about the game not having any form for difficulty option whatsoever..

To the comment below: The words RPG and Fantasy is mentioned on the box, that's all the description it has. It says nothing about the game being a hardcore fighting/RPG.. I knew that Demon Souls was "hardcore", and difficult for a casual gamer, but I also vividly remember reading that the developers wanted to implement mechanisms in Dark Souls to ease the experience for an expanded audience. But like I've understood it, the actual fighting in Dark Souls is actually even harder (?)..

I'm done of the night (it's 2am here), but fuck, I'm in the Depths, and I'm so fucking in love with this game. Way more than I ever was with Demon's Souls.

Tomorrow, I'm taking on the gaping dragon. I can't wait to kill the fuck out of it.

Man, this game is my dream game.

Imo, Demon's Souls is a much harder game than Dark Souls. That's just my experience so far, and I'm really only a few bosses in.

Maybe it's because Demon's Souls prepared me for Dark Souls, but I don't think that's it.

I'm not sure where you heard that Dark Souls would be more casual friendly, as everything about the game that's been talked about says that Dark Souls was made way more hardcore. I think Dark Souls (so far) is easier than Demon's Souls, but I don't know why you thought that the game was going to be as easy as the average western release.

That said, that should be the impetus for your to rise to the occasion. The game is your oyster.

As John F. Kennedy probably would have said of the game were he still alive: "Do not pray for an easier game. Pray to be a stronger man."

FUUUUUUUCK the jailkeepers. Fuck them and their asshole bells. Also fuck them being in narrow hallways.

Maybe people just go there too early? I beat him on my second try, level 21.
Thanks to my good shield and that staircase, I guess. I just lured him to the end of the room and ran up the stairs to drop-attack him a few times and run up again. I just had to be careful to wait for his attack...All a matter of timing. I finished him in some good melee battle, yesss!
Actually he was one of the bosses I had the least problems with. I didn't even notice his dogs at first because I killed them both with one slash in his direction, both times :D
As the old adage goes...

"To live by the shield is to die by the-"

Oh wait, I don't die to anything that isn't magic, a tailwhip, or an overhead swing as long as I have my trusty hollow solider shield and use it properly. God, I love that thing so much.

Okay, New Londo question:

The red mage guy is supposed to give me the key to the lever that drains the ruins if I talk to him after I get the Lordvessel, right? Well, he's not giving it to me...and I don't want to kill him. What's going on?

Try multiple times? Alternatively,
did you place the Lordvessel yet?

"The key to the seal is now in your hands. I will do anything I can to help." Though he did at first make reference to me
getting the Lordvessel

And that's it. After that the prompt for buying shit pops up.

Yup.

He already gave you the key. :P

Yes! Beat Capra Demon! I didn't believe that it would be so hard. I died LOADS, and then summoned someone in to help and did it in one. God. I love this game. Although I'm afraid of the curse. I assume it's a good idea to have a curse cure before I enter the depths?

Have I fucked up? Regarding the dragon on the bridge.

I finally went up to kill him. I was waiting for a while and he drops down and I start wailing at him. After a while I noticed a bonfire straight ahead. I didn't want to die and start from a bit back so I made a run for it. Touched it but after I turned around he pissed off somewhere else and hasn't returned. I feel like i've missed out on a good item. Any chance for a second encounter?

That's the main shield I still use as well. : ) At the moment I'm rocking the spider shield in blighttown but after that I'll return to use the old one!

The Jailkeepers were amazing. The bells haunt me.

Depraved ones were just awful though. Especially in 5-2. hhghbjghlhgk
People complain about blighttown's "cheapness" clearly don't remember that level very well.

He comes back all the time, particularly to kill you on the bridge. Shoot off his tail from the underside of the bridge. Then wait for a chance encounter after you've killed the black knight in his tower. One shot from the arrow will net you 10,000 souls

Well, at least almost all of the enemies in Demon's Souls let you get hit before inflicting you with poison.

Okay, reading a bit on New Londo...is there even any real reason for me to be here? I don't have
the ring you need to be able to enter the Abyss
. Is there anything else for me to do down here?

Get knocked into bizarrely unswimmable water by ghosts you can't kill unless you're cursed.

You should atleast drain the water. But yeah, need the ring to keep going.

The ghosts are no problem, and neither is the water, anymore.

Well, nothing else to do here, might as well leave for now. Still concerned about going through the forest door, though. I have no idea how that whole area even works...

Man, putting a boss fight in here that you can't win (
seath
) is a rather bitch move. If it was just souls at stake, it wouldn't be a big deal, but that was a lot of humanity :(

I was pretty scared of getting cursed as well after reading horror stories here.

However, after making it through The Depths, Blighttown/Swamp, and The Great Hollow (and then going all the fucking way back through them again to get back to Firelink Shrine lol) without ever being cursed, I realize you have to be pretty careless to have it happen.

If you are patient and play it safe (i.e. don't engage a ton of
Basilisks
at one time, try to lure out one or two at a time) they are actually really easy enemies to take out.

I had anywhere from 2 to 8 humanity when dealing with them and even at 2 I was able to be patient, wait for them to cast their
curse breath and then pounce as the cloud disappears.

Edit: But yes, as a precaution I did purchase a
purge stone
from the merchant at the
first bell of awakening in Undead Parish.

What forest door? The crest thing? How it works is that you run right in front of the steps about 800 billion times to farm 2,000 souls each from this idiotic, weak mage.

If that's not what you meant, I dunno.

Me too and farming humanity for chaos covenant. I'm 2 dex away from using Iaito. Kind of on the fence if I want to. I'm using divine halberd +5 and black knight sword atm.

Ah, only about 15 tries to kill Stray Demon. Took me a while to realize there was zero point to blocking and start two-handing my weapon.

Like many enemies in the game, he's highly susceptible to bleeding damage. A weapon with a high bleeding effect like a katana will cut him down fairly quickly.

Whose genius idea was it to create Lost Izalith? Easily one of the most annoying areas I've ever dealt with in a game, unfortunately.

lol I made the same mistake. I got much further in than I should have but at least now when I go back, it'll be quick to get around

Yeah, pissed me off too. The guide mentions at the very end of the area to "go back to the room to pick up your bloodstain", and I couldn't help but chortle. The odds of someone surviving from that point on with zero deaths is very slim. Might as well forget about it.

In Anor Londo,
I know the giant black knights respawn, but do the two gold ones in the room before the boss respawn as well? I keep running past them, but if they don't, I might as well get rid of them.

Im hoping that makes it easier to summon help, because fuck the boss of that level, too.

Also, is PvP required to get anything for trophies? I want to plat this to join my demon souls plat but I am not having much luck, and I am the type to just over-level to solve problems (even though i know that doesn't solve a lot in these games) which I guess will avoid a lot of online interactions. Pretty sure some dude just lifted a sword above his head like 10 paces from me and killed me in one shot. Ugh. Feel bad for the guy who was helping me, too.

All of the knights in Anor Londo respawn.

PVP isn't necessary for the trophies, but instead you'll have to do a shitload of farming in order to get the necessary items for ranking up in the covenants.

For summoning, people typically place them either at the last bonfire before the boss, or right after the first elevator where the gargoyle was, or right after the revolving staircase thing.

Yes and they're annoying to kill.

So all my bro's at Firelink shrine...

I've revived the firekeeper but everyone else is still dead, is there no way to bring them back? It's not a problem because I don't use magic but it's just a little lonely there.

Feels like I've come to a complete halt, can't seem to progress anymore. >:(

I have either the Tomb of The Giants or Lost Izalith to progress through, but both are annoying as fuck, especially Izalith. What to do? :(

Also, I have a question regarding the Demon Ruins; right before the
Demon Firesage
boss, there's a detour you can take to the right where you end up in a long corridor with a couple of very small enemies in front of a stone door. How do I open this door?
