At what level are you "suppose" to fight the
Moonlight Butterfly?
I read that its an optional boss, but i was able to kill it after learning my mistakes when I kept dying.

I'm SL 17 at the moment, and Just an FYI, make sure you use a shield that has high Magic Defense. I wish i known that sooner as my best shield with magic defense was the crappy wooden shield.

Anyway after killing it, i read up about it and an easy way to defeat it is to summon the witch. I would've summoned her, but i didn't want to waste my humanity to go back to human form lol and i was being stubborn as hell because I wanted to kill it by myself since the fight is fairly simple, just need discipline and stop trying to sneak an extra attack.

Reading the guides on how to kill it after i did kind of sucks, cause I wish I knew about the crest shield beforehand :/, but hindsight is 20/20.

Basically a shield with strong magic defense, plus ranged attacks equal easy victory.

Just beat the game. Wow, pretty satisfied here.
Started up NG+, but I'm a bit burnt out. 43 hours of Dark souls in about 4 days... yeesh lol

I am really interested to see if there are any other changes to NG+ besides the damage increase. I am hoping the loot improves also!

Well, I upgraded my Winged Spear to Divine +10 (for the Tomb of the Giants boss fight). Was it a smart move, or should I have wasted my White stones on another, better weapon?

Divine +10 is pretty overkill... lol You could always un-upgrade it back to normal Winged Spear +10 later.

Yeah, he took about 4 hits from my lightning axe. I have yet to read a single person say anything about dying on Pinwheel, I don't even know what he can do.

Yeah I was in there a bit too early, if you don't have a weapon that kills him quick he's really not that easy.
He's like the 2-2 boss (2-3?) in Demon's Souls. Makes copies of himself which hide where he is, plus the copies attack you. Wasn't that easy and thanks to those Wheel Skeletons getting back wasn't that quick either.

Oh man, I just had the most hilarious PVP experience ever. I invaded Sen's Fortress and it spawned me on a ledge right above the last set of axes before you reach the roof. I could see the host 2 stories below me acting paranoid thinking I was behind him. After about 10 minutes he started to move forward instead and walked onto the narrow platform. He turned to face the Serpent and I did a falling attack on him. And missed. Luckily I was still on the platform and continued to attack him but instead he turned and ran, so I chased him down the stairs thinking he was trying to get a safe combat zone. Instead he kept running through the previous set of axes and got hit by one. Instant death.

Lol. I love the invasions where you don't even have to fight.

People get so caught on trying to escape they forget that the levels are far more dangerous than the invader.

EDIT: On another note, has it been established that higher strength = faster weapon speed?

Maybe I'm having a placebo affect from using a Zweihander for so long, but I just hit STR 30 and took my Claymore out and the swing speed on it feels so much faster than I remember it being. Again it could be placebo, but has anyone confirmed it or tested with multiple characters?

I also wanted the shiny trophy. :(
completely forgot about trophies in this game :lol

Yeah, I finally discovered last night why people were preaching to be careful with that master key.

I ended up going through Blighttown essentially backwards, got really confused, and am stuck there with a nearly broken sword. It is proving to be a bitch to get back, since I hit a locked door dead end.

Fuck, I didn't grab the
white titanite slab and the large divine ember and the tranquil walk of peace in the Tomb/Catacombs.

Time to go spelunking again. :(

that is the worst place of all catacombs, giant skeletons everywhere!

Wheres the first bonfire in Sens Fortress? I got through the first white light and
got eaten by that fucking mimic at the bottom of the long stair case

It's at the top of the tower.

You'll have to jump off the roof during one of the segments where you're getting explosives thrown at you, keep your eyes open for a crack in the wall and you can't miss it.

After the boulders and more guillotines you'll eventually be outside. Go up the stairs and at the second
fire trap
there will be a gap in the wall. Roll off the edge and drop down to the bonfire. Also once you open the shortcut you can go straight from the first guillotine section to the floor below the boss so the bonfire isn't necessarily that important.

Ok, so how do I get a bse weapon higher than + 5? I want to have a + 10 base shield to make one of the boss soul weapons.
I think you need to give blacksmith a large ember and have large titanite shards.

I have been playing for 40 hours and am only in Anor Londo, lol. Of course I farmed quite a bit, but still I think beating this beast in 43 hours is pretty darn good.

heh, had a funny moment in one of the first co-op sessions i had. the host, me and another phantom were in the Depths and fighting the first butcher guy, and after we killed him the character model glitched or something because he wouldn't go down, just stood there doing nothing, so ALL three of us simultaneously did the "Well, what is it?" gesture right next to the butcher :D the whole thing looked so funny. and i can't believe we all thought of doing the exact same thing at almost the exact same moment.

Man, you're crazy. It took me 62 hours to beat the game and even then I felt I rushed in some aspects.

Oh okay, finally bit the bullet and entered Blight Town... dat framerate, lol.

yeah me too, and actually i thought the place was damn awesome, like a scarier 5-1, at least until i died at the swamp when the framerate got terrible.... i hope the swamp section is short because the rest of the level felt pretty big.

tried helping someone get through it and it was fantastic, the host was so close to death many times and i kept saving him by backstabbing every ugly ass monster in sight with the iaito so he could stop and heal. i actually felt useful...... until i died at the swamp :(

In the
Depths
, after meeting the merchant, I walked down some stairs, there is an enormous open room in front of me and white light. Did I miss the bonfire, or is it past this white door?

I just rechecked, 51 hours actually.
It was awesome, really enjoyed the whole package. NG+ is pissing me the fuck offthough. Dont know if its the fact that I've put so much in, but I'm upto First boss in Anor Londo, and its very fucking difficult.

Taking a break for a few days I think.

Good ole' DSP on Youtube quit the game last night on Blight Town, lol. He then proceeded to do an in depth 30 minute review as if he was qualified to do so. He gave the game an 8 and pretty much said that more people will hate this game than love it. Which is a fair point, and I both understand and respect that it is certainly not for everyone. I am just saying that he is hardly qualified to do an in depth review beings he gave up before even ringing the second bell. Makes his review for his audience a bit misleading, I think.

I could only watch about 5 or so Episodes of him playing and I had to turn it off. Dude curses and cries way too much. Plus failing some of the early combat stuff was making me rage a bit. :D

LOL, but he started listening and was doing better. He actually took out The Capra Demon on his first attempt. Sad that he let Blight Town defeat him, when all he had to do was go get more Purple Moss. You could really tell that he was miserable playing, though. I understand that this game will just not be fun for the impatient, instant gratification types who want nothing but popcorn games. Even so, he should not be posting a 30 minute review when he barely even scratched the surface. He is not qualified to be reviewing this game. He should have merely given his opinion on what little he did experience.

I need a little guidance.

I'm in Sen's Fortress again, doing some cleanup. To let you know how far I am; I really just need to step through the door to the end boss.
But yeah, one of the guys
Griggs of Vinheim
has turned hollowed in there, and I can't figure out how to reach him. At all.

I go to the place where there are jailcell-doors and he's on the other side, but it can't be opened from my side. How do I get to the other side?

Is the iaito good for backstabs? I'm a thief, using bandit knife +5. Backstabs are my life, as I haven't been able to pull off a single parry/riposte yet.

Very good. I'm a thief as well and I swear by it... Wait till you get it to lightning +5, just beastly.

demon ruins or the great hollow? What should i do first?

Great Hollow and Ash Lake just have some covenant and extra items (a lot of dragon scales).

If you did not do the boss in anor londo, put off the demon ruins as you'll have to go all the way through it again.
