Dark Souls |OT2| Praise the Sun!

Beat Dark Souls the other day. Easily one of the greatest games ever made. The last boss rocked my ass so hard until I learned about the trick to beating him. I crafted a lot of weapons and grinded to be able to use a lot of weapons. My total time for my first playthrough was 93 hours.

So now that I've done Anor Londo what should be my progress through the game with all these places opened up?

Also I've noticed a few people saying they have upgraded their Iaito to +5 lightning I thought +15 was the best upgrade for a Dex build? Should I take it to lightning even though I have the lightning spear at +3 atm?

Got me the Lord Vessel, then the first time I went down to New Londo after getting it, some enemy I've never seen before tried to attack me, right after you trot down the hill, before the wooden bridge/planks. I wasn't human/alive at the time, so I'm pretty sure it wasnt some sort of invasion.

It kinda looked like another player was trying to attack me, but hollowed/undead, wearing just regular steel armor, no helmet. He was attacking me w/ what I think was a longsword.

Anyone know what that was? That's the first time its happened.

That was the Crest Fallen Warrior who you meet after leaving the tutorial level. He hollowed.

Lost 11 humanities to frickin Blighttown. Didn't bother me, though. I was tired of going everywhere, dead scared of dying. Now I'm like "C'MERE AND DIE". Way more relaxed. Stupid to lose them by buggy, silly stuff, but wutevs!

yo can somebody help me out i'm after
the Quelaag boss and i can continue to some huge ass boss in demon place who just one shots me, do i have to ALL THE WAY back? or is there an other path i can go to...?

Reposting this.

I need a little guidance.

I'm in Sen's Fortress again, doing some cleanup. To let you know how far I am; I really just need to step through the door to the end boss.
But yeah, one of the guys
Griggs of Vinheim
has turned hollowed in there, and I can't figure out how to reach him. At all.

I go to the place where there are jailcell-doors and he's on the other side, but it can't be opened from my side. How do I get to the other side?

Blighttown would be a tolerable version of the Valley of Defilement if it wasn't for the atrocious frame rate there.

Framerate is killing me right now... haven't wanted to turn the game back on since I quit yesterday.

Ohhhh. Damn, I was expecting him to attack me at a different bridge for some reason. Thanks for clearing that up. ^O^

Managed to find the guide today, (UK) Gamestation had one copy left, will make a nice toilet read heh

Are you taking about the
Ceaseless Discharge, the big ass red firey cthulu thing in the lava?

If you are
there's an amazingly cheap exploit you can to do w/c can kill him pretty quickly. It involves getting him to chase you all the way to the fog gate, then after he slams an attack down, you attack him a few times, then he falls into the bottomless pit he stupidly tried to walk over.

If you just want to get out of there, unfortunately, you have to slog your way back up, there's no real shortcut you can unlock.

I've asked for help about this as well and didn't get any... but as far as I can tell you can continue into
demon's whatever, i forget the name, with the crazy boss (though he can beat) and these crazy giants after that... or you can mess around in new londo ruins - which I did for 2 hours and didn't find a boss or anything.

But the big thing that happens after quel is you ring the second bell, and that opens sen's fortress, which is down that path from the bonfire to the right of undead parish (with the blacksmith downstairs). As far as I can tell this is where you go next to progress the "story."

There's nothing in Demon's Ruin to do for story progression yet, so go on to Sen's.

There is a nice set of armor in that area you can pick up before leaving back to the surface though.

Black knight dropped rare loot. Loot is in the air, and I can't loot it. Reloaded area, and it disappeared.

Fuck this game.

At best it's a piece of his equipment or a single piece of ore... I honestly wouldn't worry too much!

There will be a point in game where you can grind them endlessly if you want to get their items.

Bell Gargoyles are really testing me right about now. I can't seem to beat them. I've got a +5 Halberd & +5 Zweihander plus Steel Armor @ +2 and still I get owned. At least I managed to chop off the tail off one of them for that special axe (can't yet wield it properly though).

Sigh.

I am at the Anor Londo Boss and yeah, this is a complete brick wall for me. I am currently trying with a Lightning Spear +3 and just can't beat them. After 3 hours and numerous tries I think the game just crossed the fine line between challanging and plain frustrating for me. It doesn't help that online is broken for me, I tried to summon some help but all I get is:

SUMMONING FAILED
SUMMONING FAILED
SUMMONING FAILED

Well the game was good while it lasted but this is one step ahead of what I consider fun.

In Blightown there's this deep silo thing - you can drop down there right? I died falling off the wood planks but saw someone's message at the bottom so I'm guessing you can go down there? It's so damn dark though.

Try again later, not the best help I know. I've had the same issue. And that boss is really one where people will rely on help.

Yes. The plank you fall on should be visible from where you fall from so it's not a blind drop.

Alright, the boss in Lost Izalith defines the jankiness of the game. I mean, it attacks completely arbitrarily, you can barely defend the attacks and you are barely given room to recover let alone heal up. Complete and utter shit.

You can try summoning the NPC Solaris. His summon sign should be on the steps to the left, near the fog gate. At least that's where it was for me.

Same goes for this:

Praise the sun! The battle becomes a cakewalk once one of them is down.

So I haven't really used any humanities. I don't have online atm (ran out of XBL Gold) and I have like 9 humanities and a twin humanity. Is there anything useful I can do with these?

fuck. i can't beat Sif, really, wtf? One shot and i'm dead.

Just learn to recognize when he's about to do that spinning move and try to dodge. The rest of his attacks are blockable.

Kindling bonfires(Gives you 10 flasks instead of 5) and summoning NPCs for certain boss fights.

Ugh, getting summoned as a Sunbro is insanely hard. I suspect that people do not notice our signs because it's the same color as the guide signs.

Same as humanity that's automatically allocated to your counter. They don't do different things or anything... I've got about 20 humanities and 3 twins, near the end of the game now.

Once in a while, I'll gain a humanity on my counter seemingly from nothing. Does this have to do with what someone else just did in the area I'm in?

Those archers in
Anor Londo
almost made me rage-quit this game after two hours of non-stop failure and thinking it was fucking impossible.

Then, it clicked - it's just that having my shield up was so ingrained in my head from the previous 40 or so hours of game-play that it was a hard habit to break. I actually unequipped my shield because pressing L1 is just natural for me.

Tip on how to do this:
* Take the path on the right, not the left first
* Go up at a jog, not a dash
* Do not hold up your shield
* Dodge/roll INTO the wall while making your way to the archer on the right first
* Once he pulls up his sword to engage in melee - back track down the archway you just climbed up - he will end up falling off to his death
* Repeat dodge/roll to archer on the right, and do the same thing
* DO NOT HAVE YOUR SHIELD UP - shield up = block = knockback = many infuriating deaths.

If you have invisibility items / poison arrows / etc, you can probably deal with it by sniping them, or getting ontop of them before they know what hit them. But, I didn't realize that
inspecting the light after the Iron Golem would take me to Anor Londo
with no way of going back, and ended up in the area a little under prepared.

Is the gold hemmed black armor not upgradeable? I was waiting to upgrade armor until I got it, but now it doesn't seem possible. Is there an armor set that beats it after upgrades for light weight?

Should i still be using the Drake Sword in
Blight Town
?

That's fine. I used it through most of there (and I believe on the boss). I've changed to using a +10 katana now, though and it finally hits for about as much as the Drake sword, but it also has bleed, which is great.

What part are you having trouble with? All you have to do is
run to one of the orbs, and smack it. Run to the other orb, smack it. Then wait for him to destroy the middle area, and jump on the tree going to the middle portion of his body
. Shouldn't last a couple of minutes.

Poison Arrows were the correct answer.

But you can go back. Just press X to talk to the Gargoyle where they dropped you off and they will take you back to Sen's Fortress where you beat Iron Golem.

It's the complete reliance on trial-and-error gameplay that annoys me to hell; screw up and you're going to die for sure. It also doesn't help that the nearest bonfire is right in the middle of
the lava lake near all those fucking T-rexes.
Makes it an extreme chore to get back to the boss.

Either way, killed off the boss just a few moments ago, so now I can approach the last area of the game (I think).

I have a question though; all those embers I have collected and given, will they carry over to NG+ or will I have to refind all again?

Lol, all I did was run up to the ledge dodging the arrows, and once I was up on the ledge, I ran towards the knight, rolling whenever he'd shoot arrows at me. Once you get close to him and he brings his Sword/Shield out, just put your back to the wall and allow him to bounce himself off the ledge by attacking you with your shield up. The other knight can't hit you, so it's safe to just wait it out, but it only took like 20 seconds before he knocked himself off.

Where exactly in blightown are he forest covenant vendor and the whip? I thought I saw someone say that they were near the water wheel you take out but I can't find them anywhere.

Yeah, but poison arrows involved absolutely no risk ;P

Not sure. I don't think so, but someone that is that far in NG+ would know more. Just don't
beat the final boss until you've grinded a satisfactory number of levels, because NG+ is harder

That boss was barely a boss at all. Very disappointing to me =/. I do dislike the
fake health bar, and there being only one way to beat it though
A lot of comparisons have been made to the Dragon God from Demon's Souls.
