A remastered edition of Darksiders II is in development for next-gen systems, its publisher Nordic Games has confirmed to GameSpot.

Retailer Amazon stirred rumours when it listed a PlayStation 4 edition of the game, carrying the price tag of $40, but pulled the listing hours later. However, a representative for Nordic Games has since told GameSpot that “the authenticity of the listing is unquestionable”, but added that it is not yet ready to discuss the project. An Xbox One edition is therefore likely but not yet confirmed.

Hmm...this reminds me to give this another whirl on PC.

I put about 20-30 minutes into it, quit and never came back. I'm not sure why either, to be honest.

Good to see them not letting the IPs rot, even if a remaster isn't super exciting on it's own. Wonder if Red Faction Guerilla will get one too? Guerilla 2 would be super amazing. (If you want a Guerilla Definitive Edition, that's the steam version now BTW--they fixed it GOOD!)

Weird choice for a HD remake... Then again, they did have a perfectly serviceable PC version and porting that to the 8th generation consoles is a piece of cake.

But I expect it to be a really hard sell unless they add something crazy awesome (which there isn't in the game right now) or include an exclusive demo for either Darksiders 3 or something.

As it stands, you can get the PC version at ridiculously low prices. The DLC was meh.

Hopefully this signals some kind of Darksiders 3 announcement sometime in the future. And hopefully that game does away with most everything the 2nd game brought to the table aside from the combat system. EDIT: And Jesper Kyd's amazing music.

Darksiders II was a highly underrated game, IMO. It improved on the original in just about every way, but critical reception was largely the same and sales were a lot worse.

If anyone's on the fence about this, please buy it to encourage Nordic to go forward with a third game!

They're there on Amazon, so they're pretty much already confirmed.

When the Legend of Kay listing first went up, I hit 'em up and they were pretty much like, 'yeah, they're there, so we can't not confirm it - but we're not saying anything about additional platforms.' Then it came out later via the Amazon US listings that there's a PS4 version, too.

The combat and loot in this game are excellent, though the world design felt like it was intended for an MMO, as each area outside of the dungeons seemed empty of life or organized structure and instead were a series of empty fields littered with only respawning trash mobs and fetch quests. Still a fantastic game, as the dungeons and loot keep coming at you, with pretty awesome bosses and spectacles.

I think I'll get this again! If they tweak/improve the loot and endgame, I'll absolutely double dip.

My main gripe with the PC version were the textures. Some were decent, most were just downright sad.

If they dedicate some time toward crisper textures, they're good.

It's Nordic Games. It's going to be very basic, as their shtick is basically to buy up dead publisher IPs and milk them with little effort.

It'll likely be in line with the PC version, at least, which should be a decent step up over the PS3/360 versions.
