What's the difference been Drop 2 and 3? Which is better and why?

Magical Drop III
-Has twice the characters
-Has some control tweaks, such as letting you drop rows into your field manually to make chaining easier and faster, and letting you pick up normal and "special" pieces of the same color together (II didn't let you do the latter as a weird holdover from the first game)
-Pushes "garbage" lines into the opponent's field unevenly in competitive play, the pattern being based on character
-Much more in-depth Vs. CPU mode that changes based on how fast you play
-Replaces a mode where you solve preset puzzles (which was cut in the English versions of II) with a board game mode
-Is much more polished aesthetically

MDIII's better in pretty much every way. Only things in MDII's favor are the aforementioned preset puzzle mode and the fact that it's less obvious that the CPU breaks the rules.

Oh shit, finally, portable Magical Drop!

Prefer 3, but if buying 2 guarantees a release for 3, then I'm all in on both.

Data East is back?

Who is in charge of resurrecting TechnoSoft and IREM?

Data East isn't back, the people who own their games are just licensing them out again. Irem's in the same category, they'll license their games to anyone with money but they'll never make anything new.

Sega bought Technosoft's catalog last year.
