Also at the heart of this that's a new element is that She-Ra's story is a redemptive one. After years in Hordak's army, she's done some pretty brutal things. Is that an element that dominated how you approached this?

I think so. She's really got a lot to come back from. She's been a very dark, dangerous character, and yet we want to admire her and see her relating to the people close to her like Adam. We want to make it seem possible that she can be as good as he is while also coming from this very dark place. I hope we pulled that off. In many respects, she is the most interesting character in the book because of her history and how far back she's got to come from her origin. She was a prisoner raised in a circumstance she didn't understand, turned into a killer and forced to do some abominable things for what she perceived as her father. Now we need to explore her and also understand her. I hope that balance has been struck.

Sounds like they are turning her into Xena. The last time they did something like this, Wiley Kit ended up being Mumm-ra's sex slave.

There should be a Xena comic. The world needs to see more of Joxer the Mighty.

I suppose this 'She-na' will suffice, for now.

Edit: Neat! :)

Definitely interested in this. While I grew up mostly watching He-Man, I was always drawn to She-Ra's back story and origin. Kidnapped and raised to basically be Hordak's own Darth Vader, it was much more interesting than He-Man to me.

For the honor of Grayskull!

That's all consistent with her origin story. The only reason she wasn't shown doing brutal things in the Filmation cartoon was because it was a cartoon aimed to sell toys to children.

I agree completely. Larry DiTillio did an amazing job writing that.

1. Fiktion will FUCKING PAY for sticking me with this damn avatar.

2. I was referring to the whole "absolutely everything must be teh grimdarks" mentality from '90s comics.

I fucking hate this so much, damn Frank Miller. If it ain't dark it ain't interesting, fuck that noise.

So a dark and gritty comic version of The Secret of the Sword. Cept now she can't get on with her life and will probably get all mopey.

Don't blame Frank, blame all the hacks who cribbed all the wrong things from The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen to try and replicate their success.

Wait, mods can do that? That is terrifying.

He's not a mod. I just lost a bet. I don't even like MLP.

Though, Mods can stick you with certain avatars. They just save that for when someone uses a NSFW one.

who is the one in the pink that looks like a scorpion?

Ah, for a second I thought this was a movie. I was wondering why they would do this without making He-Man first and cross-promoting a universe.

.....ugh that name..... really? is that the extend of their creativity?

Uh, it was a toy line designed for elementary school kids in 1985. What do you expect, Shakespeare?

Edit: Some of the he-man names and concepts were hilariously terrible though- freely admit this. They were intended to spit out as many variants as humanly possible in a short amount of time with the same molds.

I don't know… I'm game. I'm one of those people who love seeing the "dark and gritty" retellings of stories that were never dark and gritty. Not because everything has to be like that, but because it's fun to see a wildly different take on things at times.

Thundercats really isn't much better.

Cheetara, Panthro, Lion-O, and Tigra for the Cheetah, Panther, Lion, and Tiger characters isn't exactly bleeding creativity.

show was miles better though.

That is teh safest image i could find of that run, Google Mummra bath. Dude was creepy as fuck.

not a terrible idea. The concept still has some life in it, panders to aging gen-xers nostalgic for the 80s.

I'd watch the shit out of a live action thundercats, done in say, the style of avengers.

Its the wilykit stuff i was talking about.

And im done with thundercats unless theres a competent writer. The anime had potential and became complete garbage

When someone going to take on Silverhawks, there is the real gold. But they probably make Copper Kid a rapist or something.
