The New Line DC property Shazam! has morphed into two pictures. Black Adam has proved vibrant enough to become its own film, to star Dwayne Johnson. Originally, the plan was for him to play the character in Shazam!, which is the tale of a teen boy who can transform himself into a superhero by speaking the word “Shazam!”

I really, really, really dislike this news. The Rock was able to come to the WB buildings and push around the people supposedly in charge of the universe to this extent. No way, "Shazam" is still made. Maybe, "Black Adam 2: Shazam" perhaps.

Then again, Shazam was from the jump an auxiliary property not really on their mainline plan at the time of the slate announcement 3(?) years ago. Even then, New Line people were saying 'this is our movie'.
